You could overlay the average price of bitcoin on that chart.  I bet you the price wave would precede the wake up wave by a few days to a week.  Smiley
Hang on. I can and I will do something like this soon.

Update (overlay it with BTC's daily close price -- taken from coinmarketcap.com. Multipliers are used to make plots are visually comparative).

I think woke-up counts are more correlated to sudden good campaigns or bounties on the forum. It is different than daily new members that are more correlated to bitcoin price.

  • Here: https://loyce.club/seclog/seclog.txt
  • In median: for 3 years (2018, 2019 and 2020) there are 177 wokeup accounts each day with the 50% of observed days have from 0 to 227 woke up accounts. If narrows down the window to 2019 and 2020, there are 208 wokeup accounts each day with the 50% of observed days have from 173 to 253 woke up accounts
  • All time high is at 5716, on 13 May 2019
  • I did not check prospectively but I recalled the Yobit campaign was run in middle months of 2019 so the all time high of wokeup probably was triggered by that spam campaign

If anyone has a years' worth of the seclog I'll be interested to take a copy.

I want a graph that plots the number of account wakeups for a given day with a label for when the ath was crossed as I suspect a lot of people from the last bull run could've just been waiting for the mainstream media to cover bitcoin again (which I assume it has).
