Overtime online gambling has become very popular, many people prefer to use websites and apps to bet on their favorite sports and casino games. This has made gambling very convenient and easily accessible, it's actually why people get addicted to it. Anyone who has a smartphone won't see the need of going to a bet center to gamble. The world has gone digital, but is this causing more harm than good?. land based casinos and bet shops require you to leave your house but online gambling is available, people can gamble from the comfort of their home whenever and however they want. This has made a lot of people addicted, some started by staking low amounts but overtime they found themselves gambling with large amounts of money. Easy access to gambling websites can make it harder to stop and this might lead to a serious issue. Most people think they are in Control of theirself or just playing to have fun but they don't notice that it's turning into an habit. Online gambling has made more addicts than offline gambling.
From a point of view it is true that online gambling is really a caused to lead more addiction on gambling. Because when there was only physical casino's people need to go on their place for gambling rather than in home they weren't in the touch of gambling.

But now in this digital era when online casino comes to in this space the casino's walked to our home in our hand on our digital device, and for this reason we can made easily gambling there is no obstacle like need to go on casino for gambling and that's makes people more time in gambling and by day by day they got addicted into it. And yes if we check the addiction rate now it will much higher from the past when there was no online gambling platforms.

Being addicted is  also one thing if you're addicted to online gambling definitely you will find it very difficult to make savings, this is one of the disadvantage of gambling online. And it can also make one to become more addicted to gambling you know most people only prefer online gamble, probably when you see them you won't even know that they're gamblers because they choose to do it secretly without anyone knowing about it.

You know whatever thing you're doing secretly without anyone knowing about it, even if you're going about it the wrong way no one is going to know about it because you choose not to let anyone know about it, at this point even if you're addicted to it you won't even know because no one is there to advice you maybe if you're going about it the right way or the wrong way.

We cannot  blame online gambling for the addiction some persons have gotten involved with as a result of their  steady involvement in gambling online,  the convenience this has availed us should have rather been channeled to our advantage but it's sad that most persons rather choose to exploit it so much and blame for their  habits forgetting  their indiscipline and gullibility accompanied by greed has gotten them to the point they are at with gambling and all that they have gotten into at the point in their life where they are.

You are sounding like every gambler in the world is an introvert who would prefer to remain indoors instead of going out to gamble. This is a very big misconception about gamblers. Online gambling may be addictive simply because it is easily accessible, but there are people out there who do not find online gambling attractive. I am talking about extroverts who would prefer to go out and mingle with people having fun and engaging in some real interactions with humans while playing. To them, gambling is not just about winning and losing, the experience involved in gambling activities is something they find addictive.

People get addicted in different ways. So they should pay attention to what triggers them and work towards controlling how often they use that platform that triggers them.

If you're someone who gets hooked easily, online gambling can pull you in even more as it's available anytime, anywhere. But OP, even if many end up addicted, online gambling will keep growing because it entertains the majority who know how to control themselves.

So, if you're struggling with addiction, the best move is to learn how to keep it in check.

No casino is going to change its games just for you!

To be honest, I have not analyzed this in depth and moreover I have never tried how it feels to be addicted to offline gambling, what I have tried is online gambling for mass addiction and many more cases of online addiction in my environment, but if I compare it with character and nature I think humans are easier in online gambling to get addicted to online gambling because it is much easier and simple in doing gambling, not like what we have to do in offline gambling where we need efforts to go there and people who enter offline gambling do not As many people enter online gambling.

Topics similar has been discussed severally, still a newbie being inquisitive.

Yes, online gambling is more addictive compared to roadside or physical gambling stores.

The generations we are due to technology has softened everything for us, it doesn't take several minutes before a non gambler can become a gambler and won't take longer weeks or months before that same gambler transform into an addictive gambler because all he does is gamble from his confort without feeling the heat of being outside or taking expenses to first reach the store.

It is easy to avoid going to the store than to quit from not operating your phone, whatever anyone thinks online creates more addicts.

I would agree that online casinos has been proven to had cause more harm to people than good but rationality is my favourite thing so when we look at how far it has come it seems to me that it's not the problem but the gamblers themselves because first before you sign up you have a T&C of the casino to be fully understood before agreeing to it yet people seem to pay deaf ears to it.

Process must be made and going digital is the new moves for everything casinos had to embrace it hence it seems to have lead more people to gamble yet it's not the fault of the casino that people have been lead sideways. And at this same point we have made significant profit from online casinos more than physical/land based casino so I prefer online casinos even with the wrong impression that is pushed towards it.

I think it does lead to more addiction since you can just access the gambling platform using laptop, pc and mobile phones when a person have money especially if a person knows a gambling sites that isn't very strict like no need to complete KYC and  fast transactions (withdrawals and deposits). To be honest, many people in my country are now playing online gambling sites where some people take a loan or borrow from someone just to have money to gamble.

I think it's very obvious that with easy access to  gambling sites, there are now more addicts around the world. I've known several gamblers before, who are into gambling but not casino or slot games itself. And when we go out and play in land base casinos, it gives a wrong connotation to them as if they don't approved us or going into land base casinos and play. Although they gamble but like just local card games and others.

But now, almost everyone are now playing slot machine games online. And I will say that they are really addicted because they play almost everyday because of easy access. Unlike before when I play on landbase casinos, it was just like once or twice account. So that's the irony of it, as those people are more addicted to me during the height of my gambling days.

Happy New year 🤗
Well, gambling is addictive if you taste some wins and have fun; it is not the same as a child game that you can play on the phone. You can feel more excitement in betting with money than playing a game with no bets.
So for some people, it can lead to addiction if you feel excited to any kinds of betting or casino games because it is fun, and the thing is, it is easy to access on the phone and anyone can play. Even below 18, I think, can access some of the casinos; this is not the same as the offline casinos where below 18 can't enter.

If you don't know the reasons why gambling exists, you might lead to addiction. Unlike some of us, we can control ourselves and just play for fun, not for profit, but sometimes honestly, I am attracted to some bonuses and promotions. That is the only reason I go back to gamble, and gambling is always present when my friends drink together. I am not sure if I am addicted, but it is already part of my routine, and I have self-control.

The easiness to gamble online is the benefit that it has over offline casino but that is also a problem that it has generated for most gamblers because it has made addiction become easier. The number of times and hours that people spend on their phone is increasing so imagine that gambling is one of the activity that they become used to doing on their phone this means that they will spend a lot of time on their mobile phones gambling and in the process losing money. In the process of chasing losses, a gambler becomes addicted.

It's less harm imo. Several years ago, I had to go to a betting shop to register my bet and it was time consuming because you had to copy the code for a specific match and then add your tips (each bookie had an id for every match). Why was this a problem? It's simple, you spend longer time with other gambling comrades and that gives a sense of belonging if you meet other gamblers at the betting centers.

You might feel like since you have others there, it's justified. For online gambling, much more easier to quit vs physical betting centers.

Everything that has an advantage also has a disadvantage. Before online gambling started becoming as popular as it is today, which many can link to the COVID-19 spread that restricted people from leaving their homes, physical casinos and betting shops had also been producing gambling addicts.

Anyone can get addicted to whichever means they use for gambling; if you don't have self-control, you will get addicted even if it costs you a whole day to go and gamble. Some people won't mind as much as it's going to satisfy their gambling urge.
To be honest, you have already said my words on your post that, "everything has an advantage and also has its advantage."
I think the big advantage of  online gamling is it is easy to access and easy to play and easy to afford and also have good privacy. And I think these are the also the disadvantage of online gambling, because of just easy to access people are getting touch into it and those people who don't have control on their emotions they get addicted to it day by day.

So I think yes obviously online gambling lead to more addiction.

Most people think they are in Control of theirself or just playing to have fun but they don't notice that it's turning into an habit. Online gambling has made more addicts than offline gambling.
Nobody forces anyone to play and place bets, the player makes the decision independently. In the topic, other users indicated good examples with the same alcohol or other temptations, if this is not controlled, this will lead to consequences, this applies to many aspects of life. First of all, the player should ask himself questions and not the casino, why does he bring them his money, right? First, self-control and game discipline and understanding of the consequences, then everything else.

.... Online gambling has made more addicts than offline gambling.

It is true that online gambling is more accessible than brick and mortar casinos and with all those streamers and influencers promoting and advertising casinos, it is just a matter of basics statistics for more people to get involved in gambling and eventually get addicted to it, though, not necessarily everyone who engages with online gambling will end up being addicted to it. I am an example of it, (so are many others).
Internet is rather a tool and as any other tool it can be used to spread both good and bad things, gambling is a neutral thing, because we choose whether or not to partake on it and when to stop and how much time and money to invest in it.

If online gambling have made more people addicted to gambling away their funds, it is because a lack of education and self-control. Since internet became a thing all products and services started to be offered online, it was an inevitable trend.

Online gambling has made more addicts than offline gambling.
Everything you have posted is true. Including this that I quote. Most people have the awareness already that they should gamble responsibly. Gambling should be without greedy. And no one should look for money through gambling if they do not want to lose money. People should control themselves and only gamble for fun. If they want to let money to be involved as usual, they should use small amount of money that they can afford to lose.

Online gambling is just like your normal traditional betting where you go to a bet shop and place your bet but what it has done is to shorten the time and stress of going to the betting shop which is full of plenty people so online gambling only bridge the gap of you going to betting shop because online gambling is like you have your own betting shop so you are at liberty to bet at your convenience so you can bet any time that you want that is the only difference and advantage of online gambling

The fact is addiction is something that is personal even those going to the betting shops on the side streets too can get addicted because when it comes to gambling it all depends on self control and having limits at your gambling activities because when gambling is not controlled over a period of time it becomes an habits which will eventually culminate into addiction so wether you gamble online or not you can actually get addicted so it's not only peculiar with online gambling

Of course the same can be said for many more things beside gambling. I think that the world that has gone digital has brought more harm than good, though for me being digital is great, it is people that are not responsible and they use technology in a bad way by becoming addicted to it, new generation is becoming more and more dependent like that joke says about them, "Internet got away and I use to make some talking with my relatives, they were good persons Smiley " this to show that technology has gotten us all. The same for gambling, the fact that we can bet anywhere we are and we are prone to gambling everywhere it can also lead to more addiction. Addiction was much lower when you had to drive one hour to go to a betting center compared to now that you play anywhere.

You already answered the question to your topic with this first sentence. And I couldn't agree more. We can just say that the relationship between the time spent and duration on gambling increases the addiction strength in the addict.  Whatever you give your attention to will grow .
