I wonder how popular is bitcoin payment in Uber in 'El Salvador'.
Maybe Uber will integrate bitcoin in their native mobile apps, now that 'El Salvador' made it legal tender.
Sooner or later, Uber will integrate their payment using bitcoin or other coins, especially if they see people's good reaction to the crypto. They will not be late to integrate the payment using crypto, which means they can have crypto and use it for other things such as investment. But before Uber integrating their payment with the crypto, they will wait for a while and check how big the enthusiasm from people to use crypto. Once Uber integrates the payment with crypto, the other local company will start to do the same, and maybe, the growth of the crypto in that country will establish well.

As of the moment, I don't think that uber in El Salvador has announced any interest in using bitcoin or any cryptocurrency as a means of payment for their services. But with the legalization of Bitcoin in El Salvador becoming even more closer to fuition every single day, I do not think that it would take too long before uber finally releases a statement expressing their thoughts about this matter. And sooner or later, a lot of service providers on El Salvador will surely follow. That is, if legalization of cryptocurrencies on El Salvador really does succeed.

for obvious reason that Electronic payment is what Uber has and bitcoin do same thing , I'm sure this will be on the top list to make happen.

also El Salvador is ready to enter anything that involves Bitcoin because they already declared the coins as legal tender so what their Fiat cando is surely possible for Bitcoin as well.
Legit nation adoption for Bitcoin in El Salvador is great and a big achievement undoubtedly. It is good news but people should not feel too exciting with it.

To become a massive adoption and most favorite payment option for daily expenses, Bitcoin has a long adventure to go. Lightning network can be a good solution in the future, fast and cheap transactions for small payments but at this moment, it is not popular.

Companies if have intention to adopt such payments, will need to build up their infrastructures as well. It takes long time.

Usually companies will integrate local payment options in their apps. Some people don't have PayPal or credit cards but Netflix and Amazon still want to make money from these markets. Maybe they will add BTC payments just to comply with the law but they will make it very difficult to actually pay with Bitcoin by making you go through KYC.

If my memory serves me right, I saw an interview of the CEO of Uber saying that they are not going to accept crypto as payment method months ago. But we don't know, maybe his stance will change since almost every industry might accept crypto or bitcoin in the future.

So it's going to be complicated in El Salvador, maybe they will have to convert their fiat-crypto first before using Uber. Just like the rest of us is doing right now.

Even though the BTC is already legal on that country but it still need to take time to apply into the APP like UBER and it also depends on the UBER CEO,  especially the volatility bitcoin is very high.

I think it's too early to talk about such things, because everything in El Salvador is still just an idea or a proposal to happen. Just because the president wants to do something like that doesn't mean their senate will approve it.

In my opinion, it may take some time for things to settle down there, as mentioned at the Bitcoin Miami 2021 event.

Well still on process mate because the president will send to congress first before the congress either approve or not so there are no assurance that it will happen .

But if then so UBER will make it happen because they are accepting payments online and bitcoin is one of the fastest in transacting .
It looks like approval from their Congress is already certain.

As more than 70% of the Congress approved the adoption of Bitcoin as a legal tender in El Salvador now. I believe most businesses their will have to comply and Uber wouldn't be an exception if they want to continue doing business there.

Oh that's great mate , I stand to be corrected and so proud about for the very first time there is a Country that declares Bitcoin as Legal tender in which being denied for how many years now.

Congrats El Salvador.

Legally speaking now EVERY merchant, service provider, public company etc. operating in El Salvador HAS to accept Bitcoin as a means of payment. That means UBER, Amazon, the grocery store around the corner, EVERYONE is bound to accept bitcoin as a legal tender.
This is truly revolutionary.

That's very possible. But they have to use a third party if they decide to avoid the volatility that will be paid by their customers. It's easy for them to use it and accept bitcoin because it will convert automatically to their preferred payment.

uber can be said to charge quite high fees for customers, and drivers, if el salvador had legalized bitcoin in their country I think uber should automatically accept bitcoins, if uber doesn't accept bitcoin as payment I think uber will have a lot of problems, and has many challenges.

El Salvador's decision is a breath of fresh air for cryptocurrency advocates and is the first country to legalize bitcoin as a legal tender, and hopefully this will continue and not just a temporary trend as it will set an example for other countries if it continues.
if El Salvador implements bitcoin as legal payment long enough, it will prove to other countries that all is well, because bitcoin will act as legal tender in every way.

What do you think about how popular it is to pay with BTC and then wait for the transaction to be confirmed? It should be clear to everyone that paying with BTC is not instant (except in the case of LN), and that most have no idea what a mempool is and how to determine the appropriate fee at a given time.

Bitcoin is a legal payment in this country, all businesses in this country will gradually integrate Bitcoin if it is required.
The problem is whether people accept a large fee to pay Bitcoin or not. Uber is a payment receiver, so they are not responsible for the payment process. It is their responsibility to upgrade the application so that it becomes a Bitcoin wallet.

The bill has been passed with super majority in El Salvador congress session giving btc status of legal tender so uber will also have to accept Bitcoin because it is legal payment system there. The customer can make transactions like in fiat via btc also so uber won't be having any issues co-operating with this decision. Moreover there was one past statement from Uber CEO

Quote
Uber's CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said on Thursday that the rideshare company is open to accepting Bitcoin as a currency.

They are themselves planning on to add btc as payment option apart from cash, card or uber pay so this won't be an issue until the customer who wants to book a cab is not willing to pay btc because of fees or any other issue.

IMO it's not only UBER will accept Bitcoin, but also other service/company in El Salvador will start accept it especially people often transactions using Bitcoin payment. Of course as a first country who legalizing Bitcoin as a legal tender, we will see what will happen soon whether it's bring a positive or negative news about the country. It's a early start from Bitcoin going to mass adoption.

this is good news, we have to wait for the future, hopefully this will become a reality, and can improve the economy in the country of el salvador, but this is still in the process, because there is still much to be done first by the president of el salvador, the president of el salvador must send it to congress past..
