I’m an early Ordinals fan, was airdropped multiple RuneStones & hodl the $DOG runes still. That being said, $90 for a beanie baby & you don’t even get to pick the color of the hoodie… hard pass. Good luck on your grift though ✌️
We deliberately didn’t allow hoodie color selection to ensure fairness. There’s limited stock for each color: rares under 20%, uncommons under 40%, and commons around 60%. To prevent hoarding, hoodie colors are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis to keep the process fair. All available colors are visible, and if someone isn’t comfortable with the options, we completely respect that.
Additionally, 20% of proceeds go to the $DOG treasury. Even the coin creator, @LeonidasNFT, started supporting our $DOG of Bitcoin project after ensuring its integrity and seeing hundreds of people post their plushies on X. The treasury enables us to engage the community, allowing members to earn $DOG by spreading awareness. I’ve personally invested to bring value to the community, and as one of the top 10 holders of $DOG, I could easily sit back, but I’m focused on raising awareness in organic, genuine ways.
Lastly, 10% of proceeds go to charity, chosen by the $DOG community. We keep everything transparent. These plushies are costly—between packaging, shipping, customs, serialization, and web maintenance, we’re not making life-changing money. Everything we’ve done has been with dedication and integrity.
That said, I challenge others to step up, use their creativity to drive awareness, bring value to the community, and find ways to make it a win-win for everyone, make some money at it (not life changing but oh well), and then we can sit down and figure out whose grifting what lol
So, if I understood this correctly -please correct me if I am wrong here- :
Hi thank you for asking these great questions, I will do my best to answer them below in bold. In total, there will be 100,000 plushies in circulation. There are 3 rarities Common/Uncommon/Rare & each rarity reflects on the colour of the hoodie -Sleek Black/Pure White/Bitcoin Orange-. The rarity will be revealed ONLY after all 100,000 plushies are sold.
Question: Since this is a physical item -that Ships on 11/30/24-, in the unlikely event that all the 100K will not sold out, how will the reveal take place? You will never reveal the rarity & all colours will be assumed of the same common/unidentified rarity?
This is a long-term project with a total of 100 drops. For this particular drop, there are 1,000 plushies with three different hoodie variants. This is the “genesis” drop, and future drops will feature only one color, inspired by our Ordinals PFP collection on Magic Eden. We’ll select a $DOG from the PFPs and create a physical plushie based on it. The first 1,000 plushies are unique because they feature the original $DOG with its brown and white Shiba Inu colors and original hoodie designs, which won’t be repeated in the next 99 drops.Customers are purchasing those with the certainty that each hoodie will have a different rarity. They are not fortune tellers to predict if the collection will sell out at some point in the future, to receive what they were promised... (Their colour rarity & if they will get their $DOG tokens or not)
We’ve set up a specific sequence for color distribution to ensure all hoodie variants are evenly spread throughout the first 1,000 plushies. This prevents anyone from hoarding rare variants by purchasing the same color in bulk. The rarity reveal is a bonus, as the first 1,000 plushies are inherently rare. The most desired color is intentionally made rare to give everyone an even chance at getting it. I hope this makes sense, but if anything is unclear, please let me know and I’ll clarify further. Why you are not revealing the rarity percentage of each colour prior of sales emerges, for transparency reasons? A potential malicious actor/seller (I am not taking about you) could include only common hoodies in the blind boxes & after the 100K sells out to announce very low percentages of the uncommon & the rare (1% & 0.1% respectively let's say). This is not a very transparent approach....
For a potential collector that would like to collect all 3 different rarity colours & is willing to place -lets say- a 100 plushies order to achieve that: It really matters in their decision (to purchase or not) if the rarity chances of finding a rare is 30% or 0.1%
It is not transparent to sell first, and to announce later on what the customers will get (if they get it at all -ie $DOG raffle tokens-)
We haven’t revealed the rarity percentages before sales to maintain fairness and prevent anyone from hoarding rare variants. The system is designed so that even as the sellers, we’d need to purchase a certain number of plushies to have a chance at a rare variant, regardless of knowing the sequence. This ensures an even distribution and makes it fair for everyone. All colors and hoodie designs are visible upfront, and the rarity reveal adds an element of excitement while keeping everything transparent and balanced.
I totally understand your concern, and here’s our reasoning. Initially, we planned to offer each plushie color (Sleek Black, Pure White, and Bitcoin Orange) as separate products. However, with limited quantities, one color would sell out faster, immediately revealing its rarity. This could lead to bulk purchases (10-15 at a time), making it unfair for latecomers like yourself. We also faced limitations with the e-commerce platform, as restricting each color would conflict with our “one plushie per order” rule to ensure fairness for everyone.
If we’re building a grassroots initiative like this, it wouldn’t make sense to risk our reputation with shady practices around rarity. The rarity reveal for the first 1,000 plushies will happen once they’re sold, not after 100k. Each future drop will feature one color inspired by our $DOG Ordinals PFP collection on Magic Eden. Feel free to check it out to get a sense of future designs.
Lastly, I want to clarify that no $DOG tokens are promised with each purchase. The raffle prize of 10M $DOG will be held once all 100k plushies are sold. If we hit a $10B market cap, that would make the prize worth $1 million USD.How the secondary market will estimate each hoodie colour value, if the rarity never reveals?
This is totally out of our control, there might be colors that are not are but are more desirable then the "rare" ones.... We have an online market place in the pipeline and we will let the market decide. Furthermore, the "10% to Charity" promise requires that the full supply of 100K gets sold out? (similar to the "Millionaire Raffle for a chance to win 10M $DOG" which will take place ONLY if the collection is sold out)
No, of course not. Charity polls will be held on a monthly basis, depending on that month’s sales, with donations made monthly. Please follow our X account for updates. Waiting until all 100k plushies are sold for donations would be ridiculous; this is a long-term project. We also have a live ticker connected to our store’s API to keep track of sales, so the community can always stay informed.
Could you please point out the exact location of the tracker (I couldn't find it on your site), so the community can keep track of sales?
Absolutely, here you go the live plushie ticker is under the main banner of the landing page. Updates instantly from the woocommerce store. https://dogofbitcoin.com/I tried the "BITCOINTALK" coupon during the checkout and it doesn't work. Just thought of letting you know
Haha def something to think about, let's put it this way even as founders of the project we vowed to buy these plushies at full price just like everyone else which we have been and giving away in contests and giveaways for free. Thank you & I am looking forward to your elaboration
