ok apparently i am wrong. heheh, fosco responded to me via pm, and sent me this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_4217

X currencies

In addition to codes for most active national currencies ISO 4217 provides codes for "supranational" currencies, procedural purposes, and several things which are "similar to" currencies:

Codes for precious metals Gold (XAU), Silver (XAG), Palladium (XPD), and Platinum (XPT) are formed by prefixing the element's chemical symbol with the letter "X". These "currency units" are denominated as one troy ounce of the specified metal as opposed to "USD 1" or "EUR 1".
The code XTS is reserved for use in testing.
The code XXX is used to denote a "transaction" involving no currency.
There are also codes specifying certain monetary instruments used in international finance, e.g. XDR is the symbol for special drawing right issued by the International Monetary Fund.
The codes for most supranational currencies, such as the East Caribbean dollar, the CFP franc, the CFA franc BEAC and the CFA franc BCEAO. The predecessor to the euro, the European Currency Unit (ECU), had the code XEU.
The use of an initial letter "X" for these purposes is facilitated by the ISO 3166 rule that no official country code beginning with X will ever be assigned. Because of this rule ISO 4217 can use X codes without risk of clashing with a future country code. ISO 3166 country codes beginning with "X" are used for private custom use (reserved), never for official codes. For instance, the ISO 3166-based NATO country codes (STANAG 1059, 9th edition) use "X" codes for imaginary exercise countries ranging from XXB for "Brownland" to XXR for "Redland", as well as for major commands such as XXE for SHAPE or XXS for SACLANT. Consequently, ISO 4217 can use "X" codes for non-country-specific currencies without risk of clashing with future country codes.

The inclusion of EU (denoting the European Union) in the ISO 3166-1 reserved codes list, allows the euro to be coded as EUR rather than assigned a code beginning with X even though it is a supranational currency.

so yes, we want the ticker to start with an X, and be 3 characters long.

I have a quick question on the symbol ticker.  Why does it have to start with an x again.  Wasn't Doged ticker Doged?  and isn't Bitcoins BTC?  Dash is Dash?  Just wondering why the x?  I guess ripple is xrp hu?  anyone know why the x?  Just curious?

honestly im not sure. someone mentioned (fosco) earlier in the thread that certain exchanges only use 3 letter symbols that start with x, however i just did some research and found this to be totally inaccurate.

also that would only mean that 64 can exist, since there are 32 letters in the alphabet and only room for 2 letters after the x. this must be untrue. ill message him now and ask him to chime in and post some

links as to where he gets this information from.

That would be good.  Thanks dev.  Just wanted to make sure when we make the change all is thought of so we all succeed here!!  Much appreciated!! Smiley

Also, can't vote (not sure why) but I think we should have something with a V, I think the ER could be multiple things but maybe not related to VERGE.  if you look at other coins with x for example.  Monero (XMR) Ripple (XRP) DigitalNote (XDN) Counterparty (XCP) BitcoinPlus (XBP)  Those are just some where they are keeping the main point in their name.  I feel like we may lose that if we dont show like the V for Verge.  Again just thoughts.  And then again looking at the exchanges most other coins don't have the x and aren't 3 characters, but more.  So we can't just be VERGE for our ticker?  This goes back to my last post too, just wondering and brainstorming Smiley

Guys we should be using this name change as a pump. A pump will bring the coin out into the open more for its usability etc. Once it is up it will not see 3 Satoshi again.. So Dev in line with the name change can we assosiate andy tech upgrades in line with this? I take it the web site will need changing etc. But I suspect it would be interest to spread the word and use the name change/ upgrade to get more people investing in the coin. I can pull in an old favour from a news site I suppose. If someone chucks some DOGED my way to support this.

Just think if this coin reaches any where near what other anon coins have we will all be really well off and thank full. Lets do this!

Hi there! Can't vote yet in the pool, but my choice for ticker symbol would be XER. Sounds good!

For the people complaining about the name change, bla bla bla, i've buy orders on bittrex and ccex waiting. I'll be happy to get them at so nice price.

cool, poll ends tomorrow, looks like that one is in the lead =]

in interest of being open and honest, i have been writing vercingetorix and telling him to stop crying about the name change. if he doesnt stop whining about it in the thread im going to ban him from it.

this is what i wrote him today:

"why are you ignoring my messages?

how many coins do you have? what's your coin address?

i want to buy your doged so you leave. you are a huge pain in the ass and are the only one continuously whining about the name change. if you dont like verge, you can leave. if you dont want to sell right now, just shut up and wait for the price to go up. nothing you do or say is going to change the name. i created this coin. did you or anyone else create the name dogecoindark? no, i did. did you or anyone else build ANY of its resources? no, i did. i allowed the community to pick names, and the majority had picked this one, and i chose it. it is now rebranding to verge. for god sake, stop being a baby and complaining about the name change days later, or ill ban you from the thread for being an infant."

just dont want any of my words misconstrued  Tongue

Verge needs now ways to attract ordinary cryptocoin enthusiasts. What a better way of achieving this and making an huge statement other than an increase in the block size from 1 MB to maybe 3 MB Wink

"If humanity wants to survive and grow, we must go beyond the Earth, since we would have to leave our planet sometime."

that would require a hard fork..

since you brought it up though, its a good time to mention that bitcoins blocksize, and ours, (1mb) has never been a problem. thousands of transactions fit into a block, i could always raise our blocksize and create a hard fork, but i'd do that once i saw an average of 500-1000 tx's per block
