+1 Cogs [COG]

That's the logo for Cyclists of Greater Seattle, but you get the idea...

Should be an acronym too...like Cryptocurrency of Great Stealth, or something.

Darkbits makes me think of a girl's "naughty bits". What about DarkPay?

"Dark" and "Pay" are not original terms.  A name change would require something all together different.  Using "coin" or "pay" or "base" or [insert other over used term] is no bueno, imho.  "Dark" is too political, especially when govts want to ban encryption and stuff.  Keep it fresh and light, let the features speak for themselves - it will be easy to figure out.  Make the coin inclusive of everyone, not just appealing those who prefer to work in the shadows. Also, the name needs to be a noun - incognito doesn't quite fit.  For example, "you owe me .5 incognitos" - it just sounds weird.  "Cogs" on the other hand, that's a possibility and there's natural a logo possibility with word, and it speaks to industry and commerce - it could be a secret/unsaid short-form of incognito, but incognito by itself is too political (google image search results for "Cog" - https://www.google.com/search?q=cog&rlz=1C5CHFA_enUS503US503&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiSjYXrr4bKAhVSzWMKHTFsAgkQsAQIKA&biw=1877&bih=870).   Again, just my opinion - this is a fun line of discussion.

Man, that's such an obvious use of cogs (although its an acronym) and I totally didn't think of it.  Doh!  Anyway, that also works and would add to the mystique of the name IMHO.

yep this entire thing is just too awesome for us to fear a name change. Remember Satoshi changed it to Bitcoin. I would really love to hear from Jed what he thoought was a good name but he isn't willing to give his opinion and Finney is frozen waiting future resurrection  Embarrassed and Satoshi god knows where he  is  Cheesy

Anyway these are my last 2 cents

I would vote for Hashcash

Finney would have been amazing to talk to, period. =\

Those guys might be lurking this thread, you never know...

Also thinking we might not need to lean on the "dark side" of Doged, do we really need anything in the name to indicate it's anon status? People will know its fully anon the moment they google it.

Names indicating the money's anon status tend to sound shady.

We could brainstorm innocuous names like
"Orbit"
"Enigma"
"Charge"

The problem also is so many defunct shitcoins swiped a lot of cool names; and we dont want to be confused with those losers. I'll post again if i think of something good.

DOGED absolutely needs to lean on the darkside as DOGED is the "darkside"

what about darkbits

At first i wasnt a fan of a name change but now i agree a name change is probably needed.

I dont like "DEVcipher," too techy coder sounding for regular people. "DCipher" or "Decipher" i think might be better.

Or call it Cipher or Cypher. The definition of the word cipher? Secret Code.

Just ideas.

Lets have lots of ideas before we change the name. It's too important to just arbitrarily rename the $DOGED.

A thread in bitcointalk is better than make it in twitter in my opinion, but it must be selected by Dev

I liked the suggestion - Incognito. Just my 2 doged  Wink

Incognito, from the Latin incognitus, refers to a person that wants to remain anonymous to the world & others. In hiding or ducked off from humanity.

i like it as well, but the community shall be the determining factor. i can always make a poll here and on twitter.

yes, a poll is a good idea... on BT & Twitter

Name suggestion: DARK

I've seen DASH, but didn't see DARK.  It's simple and says it all.

one thing I thought about, is that if the blockchain tech & wallet tech are interesting enough to some big hands (big companies) there could always be a rebrand of doged to something more professional. I really like this community, and the doged moniker, but it's more or less up to the developer if he ever decided to go that route- if anything like that ever happened or was discussed.

in any case, this coin is going places, that's for sure. i have taken a few mill off the marker. great job dogedev. keep it up!!

A couple of times I have suggested looking at a name change - but the DOGED community did not get behind it. Either way I am happy as DogedDev is a Legend!

I've suggested in the past to change the name to just DOGED specially after Palmer left Dogecoin the project is not what it was and many think of DogecoinDark as a spin-off while DOGED has surpassed it imo and taken a completely different path. Unfortunately many see DogeCoinDark name as a satire and have zero knowledge of what it really is! DOGED is a great coin great features and just keeps on expanding virtues very few coins in all of cryptoworld can say they achieved.
Hello DOGED community. have not posted in a while, but i do think that maybe the word Doge in the name of this awesome coin is holding it back a little. Some people must think that Dogeanything is just a doge spin off, and not even attempt to look at the coin for that reason alone. but those of us that have been here since DOGED launched know how active this Dev is, how helpful this Dev is, how dedicated this Dev is, put's other Dev's to shame  Smiley
But i thought i might add my 2 cent's worth with a few names.
TORNETCOIN   COVERTCOIN  HUSHCOIN  DARKNETCOIN  UNTRACECOIN  Some way of letting people know that this is a much more discreet coin for those who like that fact.
but also to let people know that this coin has an active, helpful, dedicated Dev. And a very upbeat and positive community to boot.
DCYPHERCOIN as mentioned above sounds pretty cool. I do think that marketing plays a big factor in the success of any coin, and marketing of a coin really depends on the community "US" .Maybe if we all come up with some possible marketing ideas we can get this coin really noticed.
Idea 1 maybe start a new thread about  ACTIVE,HELPFUL,DEDICATED DEV'S and their coins. that would narrow things down to a small handful of Dev's, and of course our Dev
would get mentioned as number 1  Wink Grin again just my 2 cents worth

Not bad suggestions for name, but I would suggest leaving "COIN" out of any name.
"scrypt"
the name and algo
sounds like the historical "script" money of the American revolution (http://www.kamron.com/liberty/colonial_script.htm)

Not sure about scrypt as it might be confusing.  Scrip might work.  Look at the definition here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scrip and focus on the modern uses section, particularly on Community Issued Scrip.  Likewise, consider this quote from that wikipedia entry:

" Scrips have been created for payment of employees under the truck system, and for use in local commerce at times when regular currency was unavailable"

The second clause is interesting in the context of the bitcoin blocksize debate.  DOGED could be thought of as a substitute for btc when transactions can't process or even for everyday transactions too small to travel directly on the btc blockchain.  Could be a nice hook for DOGED.  Of course, "Scrip" also can have a negative connotation in that some companies treated scrip as a form of IOUs when they were cash-poor or just greedy. Also, in the early days, when railroads were being built etc, scrip could sometimes could only be spent at a company's own store - the same company that issued the scrip (a little shady, sorta similar to some small block + lightning proponents).
