I am doing Intense Coin on all of my CPUs -- sort of a "moon shot" since it's not on any exchanges yet. But at least it makes my CPUs somewhat useful in all the mining rigs, haha.

Hmm.. But that will affect your profitability since it will eat more watts.

Is it possible for two miner softwares to be running on a machine? One doing CPU mining, other doing GPU mining?

Of course this is possible, there's alot of tutorial in the web. Google is your answer my friend.

I agree, a decent cpu can at least produce some Monero.  It's still not as great as GPUs, but it's at least something and doesn't seem to impact GPU mining.

Pretty much a silly idea.  Not sure why you would want to stress a CPU for .20 cents a day....

Even my older FX 8320e CPUs manage more like 50 cents/day on Monero (they're pretty close on hashrate to the octo-core Ryzen parts due to similar clock and cache size).

Yes, of course. You can use XMR CPU miner and any GPU miner you want to. But be aware of system overheat if you have air fans (especially stock ones). This will strongly load not only your CPU and GPU but also MB chipset so better consider to move to watercooling in that case.

You can mine with CPU and GPU. I used to do it when i mined XMR and Eth. Just do not expect to earn a lot from your CPU mining as it is not currently profitable when doing so. However, if you are fine with that, then knock yourself out and mine XMR with it.
Agreed. I would double this, don't expect too much with CPU mining. It is just for fun and long term holders.

Yeah you totally can. But don't your hopes up high though.

Long gone are the days when Cpu mining was profitable and useful. But if you actually have a somewhat average-good cpu try mining monero with it. If not then I guess you'd better start looking for cpu-only coins like MAGI (xmg) and xdn.

I don't know if they're profitable but if you have a cpu sitting around the corner doing nothing then let it work. Even $10 a month would be better than nothing.

This is actually my case. I have 3 1060 cards and a low g1840 celeron cpu. I tried mining XMR, but the device would freeze and really affect mining speed.

So right now I'm giving magi a shot. Hopefully its price will explode in the future or something.

CPU cooling important if mining both CPU/gpu correct?

Yes, absolutely.

Yes, sure.
You can also use one runing software and one runing software different instance (same or differents mining software) for each your GPU.
If you have 6 GPUs, you can run 1 (CPU) + 6 (GPUs) = 7 instances of mining software on the same machine.

I tried out of interest to get coins on my CPU via software NiceHash. I have a 4 core processor AMD. Its capacity is sufficient to produce 3500 Satoshi per day. That's not even enough to cover electricity costs. Even if you use a modern processor it will not be profitable. Time when it could be gone forever. Now ends the time mining GPU.

Hi,
I am also using both CPU and GPU mining on the same machine. Running NiceHashMiner Legacy.
Result is go so far those cannot get much with CPU mining.

Pretty much a silly idea.  Not sure why you would want to stress a CPU for .20 cents a day....

And why we would want to "stress" our GPUs fo 1-3$ per day  Smiley With appropriate cooling system it's quite safe.

And a neccessary of high-end CPU is greatly exaggerated:

Yes, you can also use your CPU to mine at the same time with your GPU. I am using Nicehash Legacy to mine with both simultaneously, it is mining Cryptonight.

However, don't expect to earn much with your CPU.

Personally i mine ETH with GPU and XMR with CPU. But i set the CPU to mine on only 3 threads out of 4 so there is some heasroom for the system to run. I used to run all 4threads but it kept crashing so reduced i and now its a bit more stable.

This is the key, if your doing both CPU and GPU mining make sure not to use all the CPU threads and monitor system resources. On my desktop I have NiceHash CPU mining Monero set to 3 out of 4 threads and Claymore Dual mining Ubiq and DCR.
