Waiting for the coins to hit the market and investing of already existing coins has better assurance than investing in ICO, but the profit you can get from investing in ICO is clearly better, if and only if the ICO succeeds.

indeed now investing in ico is still profitable only for now it should be more careful in choosing ico because of the many ico who are scam, and maybe the way to choose it also has to be more thorough because nowadays there are also lots of new ico popping up which might add difficult to choose an ico.

For now I am not too focused on ICO because of the large number of ICOs that have failed to achieve softcap. It's better to buy coins from a successful ICO project in exchange when the token price still cheap than ico's price.

ICOs can be huge cash grabs! I invested in one... I'm 92% down and won't sell.. however ICO is necesseary for some great projects to have the needed funds.

i prefer not to join ico because there are alot more good projects that do not require ico.  these are the projects handled by devs team with resources and confident that their projects is good enough to attract big community support.
If you see project like this, you’d better to invest on that one because a project without ICO is pretty huge. I also not investing too much on the ICO because I don’t have much time to study every ICO and I don’t want to take risk that much, I’d rather buy dump coins today and hold until it pump again.

I agree with your opinions. You are right about the fact that after listing on exchanges, almost all ICO tokens are available for cheaper prices than the ICO prices. Also that the KYC procedure is a mess. But if everyone thinks like this, then wouldn't be any new innovative projects in this space. The biggest examples are ETH and Binance. They came into existence due to ICO only. Of course, they had people with great vision, skills and most importantly honesty. And that's why these projects turned into success.

What I would certainly like to add is that don't invest in any ICO which promises any return %. Also think about whether the project is personally useful to you or not. And then research on team, vision etc. Projects which have support of Venture capitalists and have a working MVP are the safest projects to invest in. But yes, one thing is true that no ICO project is going to give you profits in short term. If you can wait for at least a year after the ICO (for product development), then only you should invest in that project.

"The best thing to do as a trader/investor, is sit and wait till the coin hits the markets."

How do you think those coins from ICO's will hit the markets if you encourage others to not bother investing in them?
Much negative things have been said about ICO's but I believe that new coins entering is still healthy for the market.

but some people just want to get profit without take a risk on trading, though when you invest your money on ICO that means you need to take a huge risk. still, human is greedy they'll join what they think it's profit to them overnight, even though it's impossible now day

I don't know about your experience with ICOs but that is not all correct.
I think although the number of scammy ICOs are high, it should not be too high that no one should ever invest in an ICO.
Also doing a research on ICOs is actually not that hard.
When you know how to do a decent research, I think it should only take you about 2 hours to get enough in depth information about a project. Is 2 hours a lot to understand a project? Not at all.

2 hours, are you sure? so if you are serious then in one day you can research 12 ico, amazing.

I think you have successfully invested in each ico, therefore give us suggestions or ways to maximize research in just 2 hours. help us, share your knowledge and we really appreciate it.

I would have loved to see launch of your coin. And I was optimistic about it.Sad that that project that to be terminated. Most ICOs are just scams on these forums and never even make to any fair exchange. Rest of them are too expensive cmon, no way you could make money off of them with such ridiculous prices. I get it, the developer needs money too but it's too much most of the time.

It all depends on the individual company. Some ideas have the potential to become huge and some are never going to grow beyond a small niche. Right now the cryptomarket is dealing with the trough after a very large peak and is oversold. So trying to make pronouncements about all ICO's at all times is foolish if you are basing it on current circumstances. There is however a great opportunity right now to buy the coins of really good projects for much less than their book value.

Edit: If you spend all your time researching ICO's, you're potentially missing out on solid coins already in existence, that could yield even greater profits, for an already proven and accepted concept. This is my best advice, i give to all newcomers who approach me on an occasional basis.
that's the silliness that often happens nowadays, I also often argue about it. they underestimate and skip old coin coins that have been available and have been accepted by various groups who have proven their usefulness or function. really sad when they say see their developers are very skilled, supported by advisors and great people, annoying.

indeed we admit there are some new ico who have new goals and maybe the same as the previous project that failed and tried to fix it again.

Indeed we should keep. don't get too fond of it too, because it is this an awful lot of ICO for risks. This also now includes a lot of crime coming from the ICO. as with the ICO that scam.

The common valuation for most ICO's is right around 5 million softcap and 15 hardcap. Most ICO's these days rarely get above a consistent 50k+ volume daily, unless the team has some sort of experience backing them, let's face it, most have no clue on how to maintain and grow a crypto.

The best thing to do as a trader/investor, is sit and wait till the coin hits the markets. More often than not, you'll be able to snag some discounted tokens/coins. There are rare cases (mostly with the tokens coming out of asia atm), that they outperform their ICO prices. But, the days of making returns on ANY ICO investment is long gone, especially in this bear market and within the foreseeable future.

The good ICO's that are highly profitable, you are very likely to miss, due to mass garbage/spam. There's nothing you really can do about this, unless you spend hours researching per day (full-time job), or just are pretty lucky.

Added bonus, you don't have to deal with KYC nonsense (for your security btw) and all the ridiculous efforts you have to go through, just to invest into a decentralized coin.

This post will discuss the main keys to pay focus on when evaluating an ICO investment.

* Important warning before we start: ICOs are a high-risk way of fundraising. Never invest anything you can’t completely afford to lose. Keep in mind that due to a lack of regulation, you will have difficulty getting back your lost money in case of any failures.

Yes I Agree with you opinion. Most Of ICO looks more scammy or after launching to the market, their price is going down cause most of them only copy the old coin feature. I know there is good ICO too and ICO is needed too because sometimes they offer a new technology, a new idea, a cool feature that the old coin not have. but to find them is a bit hard cause everyday there is a lot of new ICO come out. so before joining the ICO its better to research them a lot.

I absolutely agree, too much risks on participating on ICO's. Many ICO's price right now is dumped, I think the right thing to do is wait them to list on exchange especially decentralised exchange,it gives you more tokens than participating in ICO and it gives lesser risks compared when you buy on ICO.And I suggest that you buy existing coins with a lot of potential on the market and hodl it for a year.

I agree. I think people should skip the whole ICO thing and just go straight to the market to get better deals compared to ICO pricing. With all the tokens coming out today as fast as hotcakes, I really am sure we would all miss out on something as fast growing or even better than bitcoins.

There are currently many ICO projects. I really do not know where to invest in ICO. But I think that with the growing community and experienced groups, electronic money will be a revolution
