The fact that OP there doesn't come back anymore since the day he created the thread, there will be really a build up of doubts so just don't just used it.

There is no downloadable version of the app so I can't check if there is a malicious build up on it. Im an Android enthusiast so quite have a bit knowledge on looking at it. Since it's not official just ignored that app.

For the meantime, if people really wants to view bitcointalk at segmented pages, they can try UC browser but for me, the desktop view of bitcointalk.org is not really a pain in the a*s when viewed at mobile. Well except obviously with low screen resolutions.

Thanks, mate for your kind information. People should be aware of their security system for ensuring better security investor and users should not use any unauthorized app to perform their daily crypto activity. It is quite dangerous for losing your passwords and assets. So we should be careful from this unofficial apps.

It is not authorised or endorsed by the administrator or support staff and hence it is extremely dangerous to share confidential information such as user id and password with any third party. In the worst case scenario, the account might get compromised and the user will be liable for the responsibility of such incident as it will be the negligence on his part. I am sure that we will see an official announcement from the support staff or administrator if there is any official application rolling out in the future.

It would be good to have a Faqs official forum related handy post, where one of the sections warned people about some security essentials, such as the inexistence of an official Bitcointalk app. Every now and then we see people stating that they have developed an app of the kind, and promote it.

Seeing so many people getting their credentials stolen is nowadays likely more of a thing related to phishing sites than anything else, and one needs to be very wary of links, results of google searches (which often show a few results related to bitcointalk-alike clones, and apps).

The dangers to the account outweigh any potential benefit of an unofficial app, and they simply cannot be trusted. @sncc’s guide on Bitcointalk account security is a good reference to have in mind (see [Guide] Bitcointalk account security).

I just have read that someone has developed an app where you can read all the threads from bitcointalk. You don't have to enter the password though.
But it can steal your password by malicious code while you will enter password from other browser. Owner may have control over your phone. So, it's better not to use the app.

Definitely one must secure one account especially in BCT accounts. There were many attempts already and it prove that many people are having interest with BCT accounts. It was even created a statistics for the accounts that has abandoned and made it as an asset. See this link made by one of the users here in this forum.

This will help one consideration that a BCT account is important so avoid compromising your account to hackers.

If anyone is interested in this app, it is best to register a new account to test it.
For testing the app, you don't have to use your log in credential since the app is "Read Only" but through this app, the app owner may steal your data. Be aware.
For one, they don't need your password enter the account. If they get signed-in cookies and codes from your mobile browser it's enough to compromise the account.
Changing the password does require knowing the previous one or having access to the email as well though.

I'd say that nobody should trust an third party tools for bitcointalk unless the binaries are confirmed to bee built from open source code.
Until the forum can support technolgy for secure sign-in via third party services (f.e. Oauth) such apps aren't secure. Hopefully we'll see a feature for that in the new forum software.

OP, I know that you probably have good intentions, but why do you think this app has a malicious code that will steal everyone's passwords? No app can "have control over your phone" without root access.

Also, where did you find about it?

I think the app is not offical and using it can put the user at a vulnerable state
Obviously it isn't.

Why would anyone even trust such site, that is not approved by the forum nor by theymos
And worst still the information was given by someone of no reputation on the forum
It's apparent that the linked shared by that user is a fishy one, and any smart user shouldn't fall prey to this really..
Thanks for informing the beginners in here

Yes, it is not authorized by bitcointalk, so it is very unsafe.
When you enter your login password, it may log your data. I don't think we should try an app like this, its creator is also a newbie with only 2 posts, which is even more unreliable.
Logging into the website of bitcointalk.org on your mobile browser is not difficult, don't put your privacy at an unknown risk.
If anyone is interested in this app, it is best to register a new account to test it.
