There is no easy way to double your bitcoins, anything that offer something as appealing or as close to doubling in general is a scam, Bitcoin is not virtual money but real money and that has value, it's the same as someone offering to double your USD or money..
Totally agree, I tried various ponzi schemes like Fibonacci, ltcgear etc. but none worked. all are crooks.

I totally agree to that bitcoin is like another currency and its not free money. Many bitcoin doubling schemes are just Ponzi schemes and you will loose all your money if you invest in them. I could not find even a one site for which i can safely say that it is the safest to double your coins.
I remember someone that posted here some kind of doubler in 48 hours,i had invested some penies i had on my account and guess the result he achieved around 400 btc from people and closed the deal,i know that they scam but the ammount risked were soo high that i cant stop smile,but be sure all those projects scams.Try exchange at altcoins you may double your coins but not from one moment to other.
yeah i have used these sites once or twice in my life.
but i have only used them for "gambling purposes". for me it is like rolling dice with an extremely low chance of winning. but in the end i think you are better off rolling dice on 2x with ~50% chance of winning.

As always, I recommend selling a product that people need or a service, charge in Bitcoin and if your offering what people want. The Bitcoin will make its way to you.

You should look for work at freelance places there alot of things to do there even here at bitcointalk there many people looking for people to do all sorts of things, from very odd to very common bitcointalk has it all

faucets? you must have a lots of time. For people who are newbie about bitcoin, i'm sure he/she will go faucets first. So maybe he still new about bitcoin. I advice you to leave faucets, better do signature campaign. and you can also go gambling though, beucase you can easily doubling your money.

Once you get to a higher rank on bitcointalk, you can sign up with a signature campaign, which will pay you by post, more and more depending on your rank and the sig campaign requirements. Much easier to make BTC with signature campaigns than faucets.

Well another project a bit more elaborated then the usually doublers running it may let some people to double but others wont see a satoshi from it.Its more risky then any thing,and you main investment will return after two years.
These are not even investments, Everything offering double on a period of weeks is just too ridiculous to even call scam, I find it amazing that some people still fall to this kind of traps even with users telling people not to use these sites. 
A good way to get some coins is joining IRC channels that rain altcoins, then sell them for BTC. Usually it is a little faster than faucets. You can also just hold/stake the coins you get.
I agree with you about holding the coins as a working method to make some earning, but about the altcoins are you meaning trading ? if it's the case, i think it's a little bit risked unless you have good experience about it
For trading you need to have a good experience. If you are new to trading field you can easily lose your coins.
