use this to uninstall any video card drivers AMD or NV , it works better then some of the paid version at it's level and i would uninstall them in safe mode .

http://www.wagnardmobile.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=700

direct download link from AMD's site for the Catalyst (Crimson) 15.12

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/previous/detail?os=Windows%2010%20-%2064&rev=15.12

Like  eckmar  say use the newest drivers and I 'll take it another step that's bad advice claymore gives on what drivers to use because some cards are not supported by the Catalyst (Crimson) 15.12 and those drivers can be the main problem in some cases and tomorrow if what I read is right there is a new drivers releases coming form AMD that will be awesome . but well see tomorrow .

And drivers do matter in how they run the cards they power and the software those cards run .

I do not recommend using this  wagnard mobile software. It deleted a MF.dll file and I couldn't install neither the 15.12 crimson nor the current one.

So I had to recover my SO with a backup recovery point.

Does this Catalyst (Crimson) 15.12 driver work with RX 480?

No, they were released AFTER the 15.12 drivers were.

I recommend the 16.9.2 WQHL driver for the RX 4xx series cards, it also works reasonable well with most older AMD cards (though there's a couple "holes" in it's support for older cards, noteably the Tahiti based cards like the R9 280x).

Ignore the "blockchain" drivers if you are on Windows 7 - they flat out DON'T WORK on older cards in my limited testing of them.
Seems like AMD ONLY tested them on Windows 10 for some STUPID reason.

1)uninstall current driver

2) install desired driver ...

Use the DDU to completely uninstall.

Why would you use them? Use blockchain drivers. Or some 17.6.x if you want WattTool and don't need DAG epoch fix.
Okay, now I understand, I'll use the latest one, thank you very much.

1) To chime in with the others:

R9 380, 15.12 - since forever

470, 480, 16.9.2 - around 1 yr

I have no issue with ETH or ZEC or XMR.

2) Invariably when messing with any AMD driver, I always use the DDU  utility to reinstall 15.12 or 16.9.2

3) Under Windows, I always run the MSI afterburner utility to manage the above while mining.

4) One other issue, familiarizing yourself with how to setup your MB bios.

I want to use the claymore miner as well!

But having this problem with my current drivers:

Wait, I don't see any problem. GPO 0 means that it's using 1 GPU. Indexing of GPUs start with 0, if you will have 2 GPUs, it will be GPU 0 and GPU 1.

I've got machines with the A10-7860 and A10-7890K running on the 15.12 drivers - one of which has a HD 7850 in it (semi-short card to leave airflow to the middle card in the system, a GTX 1070).

Anything before the A12 series should work, the A12 probably needs something newer as those were released AFTER the 15.12 drivers were released.

Im curious if anyone knows about using the 15.12 with a sytem run by an AMD apu. I have a board running the A6-7400K and it defaults to 17.1 drivers and that seems to be fine for my 480. I can get it to hobble along at 26mh/s. But I also have a 7970 laying around too. Unfortunately on the 17.1 it only gets about 13-14mh/s. Has anyone run the 15.12 drivers with an APU based system?

If you don't know how to downgrade AMD drivers you really shouldn't be mining in my opinion....

Disagree. Its easy to learn and easy to NOT know if you come from a gaming background and let package managers install updates automatically.

do a clean install of the drivers turn off any thing that may use those driver or card before you uninstall them like antivirus software, any profile software you may be using like after burner , awesome miner etc and you may even need to reset you cards default to default with software like after burner and make sure some stuff is off or on for that  card with afterburner, you can't see other wise that keep turning on or off  or some profiles not Turin off on there own or not deleting, or Windows installs it own profile after a driver uninstall or the driver gets stuck on a profile no mater what you do.

tks!!

is it better to get the old drivers?

If you are mining on a card that is older than the RX 4xx series, the 15.12 drivers seem to still be the best combination of best hashrate (though some of the 16.x drivers can argue that point), ability to use modded BIOS (lost as of about 16.11 and never came back), and stability.

For the RX series, you HAVE to go to a newer driver - IME the 16.9.2 WHQL driver is the best for those cards for mining, but any of the 16.9.x and 16.10.x seem to work reasonably well.

When using the dual miner, you WILL lose a little hashrate on ETH while mining 2 coins - you're SPLITTING the GPU between the coins after all.
The concept is "small loss of ETH for large gain on the other coin that more than makes up the ETH income loss" not "no loss of ETH income and added income from other coin" due to differences in the parts of the card each coin uses heavily.

Hopefully nobody mad I am resurrecting an old thread.

I am running an MSI RX 470 8GB OC. I switched to Claymore Dual today from Genoil Miner so I could mine two coins at once. My driver is 16.300.2311.0. I have notice a hit in mining Ethereum by about 2 to 3 MH/s but I am now mining Pascal coin also (I tried Decred but every pool rejected all my shares so I switched to Pascal and all shares are being accepted). As mentioned above Claymore recommends downgrading the driver to Catalyst 15.12. Will I see a little more speed in mining Ethereum (I am minin on ethermine.org) or should I leave the latest driver in place. Before switch to Claymore Dual on Genoil I was leveraging 22 to 23 MH/s (varied a lot with some quiet high spikes and some very low lows) now on Claymore Dual I am getting a pretty constant 20.5 MH/s.

If you're running the older cards, R9 3xx and before, or the Fury/FuryX/Nano, the 15.12 drivers seem to work well more consistantly.
If you're running the WX 4xx series cards I'm pretty sure you have to run some of the 16.x series drivers.
