setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
cgminer.exe --scrypt -s 5 -o SERVER:port -u USERNAME -p PASSWORD -I 19,19 -d 0,1 -w 256 -v 2 -g 1  --thread-concurrency 8000,8000 --gpu-engine 930,930 --gpu-memclock 1400,1400 --gpu-powertune 20,20 --auto-fan --gpu-fan 40-80 --temp-target 79 --expiry 1 --scan-time 1 --queue 0 --no-submit-stale

Do you have sufficient power for both cards?  You could also test the new card by itself to rule out a problem with the card itself.
=================================================================

Yes,,, I am running a "gold" standard 850 waatt. Modular PS.

Power isn't the issue,,, or I should say,,,, wasn't the issue.

HEAT I believe is the main culprit now,, and I am really trying to keep profit high,,, or at least break even at this point.

Those GPUs are great,,, but man are they ever hot when they get working hard.

This.  Also Try changing the shaders to 1536 since that's what a 6970 should have.
could try adding the -debug switch, might provide more useful info

The -debug is the same as -T arg I believe.

Well I am back to report on this.

I had a feeling the mobo was at fault and replaced it with,, ASUS F2A55-M LE MICROATX 2DIMM FM2 MOTHERBOARD
4 gigs of 1866 memory

and a new proc,,Amd A4 5300 3400Mhz 1mb 65w Socket FM2 Apu

They run but one really runs hot. I am guessing that the warm air from the "upper" GPU is affecting the "lower".

I even have the side off of the PC case and while "0" is at 76c the other is always 7c higher.

So as a partial remedy I placed a decent size room fan in front of the case and it does help some.

When I get home from work today I will attempt setting the cards with different values to hopefully compensate for the heat issue. I SHOULD be able to theoetically pull 1000kH from this rig but as it sits I am getting only half of that.

Any tips Huh anyone,,,aside from the obvious one of using a milk crate?

Keep us updated on how your going.
But making sure the other 6970 that you plugged in is good should be a simple matter of pulling out the old and slotting the other in and testing for a bit.

Do I have to add an argument in the config file specifying I am using 2 GPUs?

--gpu 0,1 ??

Not unless you want to use different settings for each card.  cgminer will use the same settings for all cards unless you separate the options with commas, in which case it will interpret them as per-card settings.

I dont think its normal. I've seen 6970 reach 500kh/s
======================================

Normal as in what?  That card WILL do 500kH,,, when I was running just one I saw it.

I just need to know if in my config file I need to specify that there are 2 GPUs

And the code example of the argument of how it looks

Shoot ,,, I have a 5700 that is gettn me 150-200kH so I KNOW my single configs are good.

I did that a coupla times.

When I get home from work I am gonna reload the PC and add memory.

I think there are a few AMD/ATI folders I didn't clean out.

This is a totally dedicated mining box and won't be used for anything else.

Have you tried GUIMiner-scrypt?
Adding Ram would not hurt though.

No I have not tried that client yet.

What happens when you just feed cgminer the scrypt option and your pool settings,username and password minus the rest?

===================================================================================

It comes on just like normal,,, then just shuts down,,

Would a lack of physical motherboard ram be the culprit?
There is only 1.5 gigs. I have plenty to add to it if needed

I had the same issue when I installed a new Sapphire 7970, but not only would the miner crash, but seemingly any other application would crash.

I managed to get that problem to subside by using the AMD cleanup tool, and installing a new driver. I specifically used 13.1, but you might find luck in a different driver.

I think I will just do a fresh install of Windoze when I get home from work today.

The card(s) DO show up in the device manager.

And I am using 13.1 drivers and SDK 2.7

I appreciate the replies

Do I need to specify in the arguments  (in the config file I have created)  that 2 GPUs are used?

Are both GPU's showing up in Device Manager?
Going off your kh/s your mining scrypt correct?

Have you tried:

GUIMiner-scrypt
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/guiminer-scrypt-a-guiminer-fork-for-mining-scrypt-chains-150331

And does it list both GPU's in the drop down list?
