I did not understand good enough - is bitcoin allowed in the country and now citizens can make money with bitcoin or bitcoin will be accepted as payment in Dubai hotels and for services? Well, both variands seem good.
Hope it will make bitcoin's price to grow and will affect good on bitcoin in the point of it's development.

Wow, it is such an amazing news today. It is the disaster when Trump becomes a new USA president, which means people from other countries will not be allowed to become a part of America. Thanks to Dubai, thanks for accepting Bitcoin. It makes me happier now Smiley

I am the forever Optimist about moves like this.. today it's some kind of obscure Blockchain spinoff of Bitcoin and tomorrow it will be Bitcoin.

As soon as this is picked up by the mainstream media, more VC capital will flow into other projects... some of them might even be Bitcoin

projects. So let's not make quick judgement about this, and just go with the flow. You cannot throw the baby out, with the bath

water ...right.  Huh

Not only does this remind me of a system to earn from Frequent Flyer points by visiting Dubai, but at the same time with the act of gamifying tourism in Dubai it would greatly promote Tourism by paving avenues for tourists to visit several other lesser known tourist attractions within the country and I'm sure a lot of visitors will be amazed to see a lot more than just dune bashing and the Burj Khalifa once they visit Dubai. I hope people get to experience the cultural heritage and collect enough of those dynamic redemption 'Dubai points' to visit a lot of great places.

I'm sure that with blockchain being a part of the points based loyalty redemption campaign, it'll boost involvement in other Blockchain based projects and perhaps instill merchants over there to accept Bitcoins for several Bitcoin enthusiast tourists looking for a short or long stay.

Since they've mentioned about the Dubai Global Blockchain council being involved in this project, I remember there was a CoinDesk article that mentioned that bigger IT companies like IBM were a part of their project campaign and they had increased focus on storing Health records like X-rays, Business registrations and Tourism Engagement (incentivized to visit places) as a part of their agenda. I'm glad they're taking tourism engagement a step forward with this.

It's often seen that getting tourist to come is difficult and those that do manage to come often struggle with currency fluctuations, recent ones being when euro broke down, and in India news which is getting global attention Rs. 500 and 1000 notes invalid. In all this this is a welcome news that Bitcoins is accepted in dubai also now, cheers to the entire community.

I'm not surprise at all, dubai is an open business centre and they will welcome anything that is revolutionary and timely,I hope it's not only Dubai but the entire arab world will in the future.

It's not Dubai accepting Bitcoin. It's some kind of magic B-L-O-C-K-C-H-A-I-N tourism marketing initiative. Some Blockchain fool was successful in convincing a few even greater fools at semi-official government agencies that spending money on some buzzwords is a good idea. "Gamifying" tourist visits - can it get any more ridiculous? An outstandingly efficient way to waste money if you ask me.

A lot of people in government related position have not the slightest clue what Bitcoin and its blockchain are, but are unwilling to admit it. That's why there are many salesmen successful in marketing snake oil to them.

The true innovation is Bitcoin, the decentralized currency. The blockchain is only a necessary technological prerequisite to enable this great innovation. Banks and governments are in denial of this simple fact, because it means that they will loose their power. That's why they frantically focus on "Blockchain Technology".

Slowley but surely Bitcoin is spreading. Even in the Arab world. Dubai is progressive so this is maybe not so strange but stil it's a big move.
Even if at the moment they accept only blockchain technology this could be a step forward to accept Bitcoin. Hope there will be more similar news each day.

Accpeting Bitcoin and adopting Blockchain technology are two different thing, Bitcoin is a currency while Blockchain is the technology behind Bitcoin and can also be applied to different sectors including Healthcare, Agriculture, Tourism and Financial sectors. If Dubai decided to start accepting Bitcoin that will be very great

you get the wrong point from the news above,in the news they don't mention anything about bitcoin and its relationship with dubai,in other side dubai only implement blockchain system to 'gamify' tourism, and implementing blockchain doesn't mean it's implementing bitcoin, bitcoin use blockchain system but blockchain system getting used by various cryptocoins

Interesting, but what can I see is Dubai use blockchain, according to the article, there's no mention bitcoin, instead blockchain.
There's a country who use blockchain as well for their government system. They prefer to use blockchain technology than using bitcoin too, maybe it currency too volatile for them.

Anyway there's no rule out possibility dubai start using bitcoin as payment. It will be mass.

Well, I hope they will accept bitcoin in Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates soon. I want to visit them to ride the Formula Rossa, the world's fastest roller coaster with a top speed of 239 km/h (149 mph).

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi was named the "Middle East's Leading Tourist Attraction" at the World Travel Awards 2015. It is the first and only Ferrari-branded theme park and has the record for the largest space frame structure ever built.

Now, that would be another bucket list item ticked, if I could manage to visit them and pay for everything in bitcoins.

I can't wait for the day when bitcoin is more widely accepted for everyday items across the globe, imagine never having to be bothered by exchange rates again when you travel.  It would be like the Euro 2.0 without the limitations.

Yes that day is coming very soon. Swizz has started accepting it, now dubai also follows suit. Even school have started accepting it. I wish all countries start accepting it as a global currency. Atms and at gad counters. It will make life so much easier, like roam with virtual cash, no need to pay in noted ever. Let's hope this comes soon

yes it is very nice as it sounds, it is marked that in every country today has taken into account the potential benefits of the use bitcoin as to financial transactions in the Internet world. I really hope my country can use for the benefit of bitcoin transactions offline. in order to facilitate the buying and selling by using bitcoin as a major transaction.
