EU VAT you can usually claim back (or not pay) as a EU VAT registered company.
Not that it helps miners with the power rates all over the EU...

Same here in Serbia, but not every miner has company under his name or wants to be connected to company. Also, there is a lot of laws that might make it harder for you to do that or even forbid you from doing that. In Serbia, miners are categorized as machines for gambling (even though they are not that per se).

I imported 3 PSUs and 2 ASICs via my company and was able to claim back VAT (at end of the year) for 3 PSUs but I couldn't claim it back for ASICs and it made paperwork a hell of a mess that year.

For individuals however, you cannot claim back or skip paying VAT in majority (or whole) EU and Europe even.

You guys can update this for Romania,it is 19% VAT rate, and NO additional duties. They wanted to do -1%, making it 18% for 2019 but that went out the window ,we`ll see what 2020 will bring.
Can confirm this 100%

For Canada. The 5% is only the base rate and what is expected for a business or importing to a business, that is the GST {Goods and Services Tax}. Everyone has to pay this on import. A registered business is exempt from paying PST {Provincial sales tax} on the items they purchase for their business - that or they make a claim for reimbursement.

So for any personal purchases you get hit much harder in most provinces, which varies by province. See below the additional % you can expect to pay for personal import of mining gear. Some of the provinces below use an HST tax system so I'm unsure how they go about handling this portion of taxation but I always assume the officials will get their dollars from you at some point.

Alberta                                   0%
British Columbia (BC)                        7%
Manitoba                                   7%
New-Brunswick                               10%
Newfoundland and Labrador       10%
Northwest Territories                        0%
Nova Scotia                               10%
Nunavut                                        0%
Ontario                                      8%
Prince Edward Island (PEI)              10%
Québec                               9.975%
Saskatchewan                            6%
Yukon                                       0%

My personal experience has always been that I pay a lump sum to whoever the carrier is before it leaves their warehouse for delivery.

Not true. It's 2.6% and Section 301 ruling still 25%. What minefarmbuy referenced previously that showed 35% was for goods from Cuba or North Korea.

changed it.

Still  27.6%  plus 7% for NJ = 34.6%   a lot of coin to pay the government.

USA has changed to 27.6-37.6% if china made 27.6  if cuba or korea 37.6%

and 2.6 % if mining gear is from other countries then the ones above

and was always 2.6% if over 2500 and any old thing from anyplace.

plus your state if it has sales tax wants a piece.

in NJ it is around 7% on any import of

any kind = some exceptions are clothes.
any price
any place.
