Who isn't dreaming of escaping the rat race. I'd like to work or invest today so I'll be able to retire early. I want to enjoy my old age I don't want hassles of finding money to pay for my living. You've retired in 66 or 67 but I'd like to retire when I'm younger.

You've found a cool balance to keeping busy so long as you're active you'll be enjoying your life for many years. Working 2 or 3 hours every day online gives you freedom to make your own hours that's the way I'd like to retire. If I can receive a pension with investment returns each month I'll say it's a success.

My wife and I are 66 and 67. She retired in 2012 at 55 after working at 1 job for 33 years.

I got my  pension last year. But I mine and make money in sales ands I am self employed for years.

I make my own hours. I would find it impossible to work 5 days a week 8 hours a day.  but 2 or 3 hours every day via internet and some trips to the mine 2-4 times a month I will likely do for years to come.

I like the work yet I also have a lot of time to spend with the wife.

This Sunday we went to the beach on the Jersey shore. Walked for 75 minutes. Then went to a restaurant ate German food then drove to Six flags great adventure and went to 3 shows of fright Fest along with a few rides,  A long exciting day.

Saturday it rained like mad we slept in . Played  for a few hours ate a brunch, The watched some old movies. I did some mining work on line. It is a good life as we no longer have the rat race to deal with.

This means only your wife retired early. I always wonder, people who retire early, dont they miss daily or working routine? I understand that during first year or couple of years, people dont miss their work colleagues, routine of driving to work, getting a coffee on the way and etc. People that retire, they most likely narrow their circle of friend. If they havent saved a lot, for example to travel, they spend most of the time with their second half, family and few friends. But when you are at work, at least you get some news from colleagues. What I mean is, with retirement, the life somehow stops or pauses.

Reading the snippet of the article kind of screams people that opt for early retirement are people that are just in need of a good vacation to get their batteries recharged for a new challenge and not that they needed to retire...am pretty sure such people miss the sense of belonging, the sense of being a team player that is required to do their part of a project to progress otherwise when that phone rings less, your friends/colleagues get too busy for you such that you seeing people less can affect your psychology and want you to get back working says retirement isn't for you.

But if you got into the job market for money and get to have it, I see no reason to stick around when you can spend this time with family and maybe run your own business with your own term's.

But that would be semi retired not retired.

The majority of people who are still happy with their decision not to come out of retirement are considering their own age, which may no longer be suitable for working like younger people. So the majority still have to be grateful for the things they have got and enjoy their pleasure with their current life, while those in the minority are still looking for work when they retire because they don't have enough money to continue living in conditions like now, so they are forced to to look for work to be able to meet their own living needs at this time.
Apart from being grateful for the work they do in government or private agencies, I think they have no other choice but to survive until their retirement arrives. Sometimes continuing to work at an government agency is a safe zone for most workers because they depend on their monthly salary to meet the basic needs of themselves and their families. But it is always difficult for them to enjoy their old age well if they don't have enough savings. Most retirees have to rely on their children for meet his old age needs, but if they have additional sources of income in one way or another while working and then that is where the difference can be found.

Meanwhile, someone who retires early from their job so they can focus on their business is also not a bad choice. Sometimes that is a difficult choice for most workers, but if they really focus on building the business they have been working on themselves then that is where they will feel something different. We have seen that not many non-position government employees (ordinary staff) work 30 to 35 years, but they never become rich without side income. They are all in a comfort zone where 99% of their salary is only sufficient for family living costs and accommodation costs at their place of work every month. That's how it is until they retire.

You proved yourself why this is a subjective topic. Think! The number of early retirees who seek jobs which you mentioned are part of the minority while the majority are completely happy with their decision and won't come out of retirement.

Also, this isn't the first time that inflation became a thing and the global economy is already recovering which you clearly failed to observe.
If inflation and the global economy have begun to recover, this is actually quite good for those who are very vulnerable and have often felt the effects of inflation and an uncertain economy during this time. Because I believe that some people who are really ready to face any problems in their lives - really don't really think about and observe the problems of inflation and the global economy so that some of those people don't realize that inflation and global economic problems have recovered.

This is a very subjective topic op. Firstly, no one knows how long they will live which is why retiring early is preferred over retiring late. Imagine saving a lot of money and retiring late only to expire shortly after. Crazy regrets!

Secondly, most early retirees are happy with their decision. The ones that you mentioned are part of the minority who can always come out of retirement.
I disagree with you. With the current condition of the global economy, more and more early retirees are back to seeking jobs and any sources of income. While it is true that retiring early allows people to finally have time for themselves and enjoy life, majority of the people see it as a hard-to-reach goal due to inflation and the possible hit it will cause their financial stability once they choose to stop working. Hence, I wouldn't call this a subjective topic.

There are others who file for early retirement because they have no other choice. How did I say that, for example, in the past, if they were employed by one of the government agencies in our country, there are other government employees who were forced to do it because if they did not do it, they would not get the retirement fee? Because the management changed that if those who have worked for 30 years of service have been given early retirement.

That's why even after they got their retirement fee, they are still looking for a place to work because they think they can still work. The only sad thing is that the benefits are no longer there, unlike when they were in government, when they were really complete. So on the other point you mentioned, I agree with it.

Early retirement will be the better option,if you have some assets as your backup.Because the business alone help us to earn more for ourselves as compared to the regular salary. If you had enough backup of the assets, you can take the risk of the quit job and do the business which you like and your interest based business. So if you do the business which you like will help you to get self satisfied, the involvement to the game also more. You can give your hundred percentage in the business to grow yourself.

That is why I am really hoping to take advantage of the expected crypto bull run maybe next year and 2025 so I can have enough capital and savings that is to survive while the planned business is still striving in its market. I am also planning to stop a part of my regular job in order to give more attention to a business. Having a successful business is really the main goal so we can retire from our regular jobs. So I am once again willing to take risks once I have enough savings. Right now nearly all of my monthly savings go to bitcoin and some altcoins.

I've got plans to keep busy so that's what's motivating me.
A good retirement plan that everyone seems to be telling the same thing when I talk about going into their retirement age. They will just retire in the corporate job but that's not the end for them to stop doing what they used to do and to make themselves keep busy. And whatever is the outcome of it, will be able to make use of it as an additional income if it's like a side hustle.
Thanks you've simplified the retirement plan that's how it is. Side jobs for additional income if it's available. Enjoying life keeping busy.
That's actually the goal when we retire, we never just quit or forget to do jobs. We'll still do it but they're not that much the same after all. While we enjoy, we get to earn a bit and we're already happy with that as we enjoy the things we do.

If I get there I'll spend quality time doing activities which make me happy. If I'm able to enjoy life with out worrying about wages because pension's going to fund me I'm going to do it. If side jobs or investments help in retirement it's a bonus. It isn't different to what so many other ppl aim to do.
Yeah, that's the main and end goal when we retire. That's the ideal one that we should be aiming for as we retire, sadly in my country, the sandwich generation is still on it. Many of the parents now grandparents are still going with their children as their retirement fund.

Yes I'm enjoying life but I've got years to wait before I'll retire. I don't know when it's going to take place but even in retirement I won't sit on a chair and wait for death.
That's actually the retirement plan, we'll just do the lesser jobs but typically we're all set for life we're not just going to sit and wait for nothing to happen. Our body will look for those activities that we used to do and if we don't, that's likely going to make us weak.

I've got plans to keep busy so that's what's motivating me.

Why do we need to retire anyway and what is left to enjoy in old age when the only enjoyable things for you will be sleep.

My goal is simple. Keep working as long as my body can and enjoy life along the way bit by bit so that i won't be stressed. Along the way i will keep investing my money in assets which will cover my expenses when I am not able to work anymore. Our lives are short and it is true that if our lives expire shortly after retirement, it will be a regret.
If you decide to keep working then there is no reason to retire early when you are still comfortable with your previous job and high monthly salary, we have allocated time to work and enjoy life so there is no problem continuing to work until retirement, except for subjective reasons If he is sick or can no longer work, he applies for early retirement to get severance pay for his medical expenses.

Applying for early retirement is not the best decision if you want to enjoy your youth without being tied to work, even though working for the government or working for a company provides free days off to enjoy life, so enjoy both so that you have finances for the future and assets from the results of your work.

What's so bad about that if i can work until the day before i will die. I would be proud to have such a challenging life. Lazyness makes humans sick and drains a persons life force.
I like your outlook. You've got strong views.

There isn't a guarantee that lives will last long after retirement as well. So why wait till the retirement! Enjoy your life when you can. You don't need to be retired to enjoy your life. If I get a $3000 monthly pension i would start investing it in assets and start doing a side business if my body has the ability to do that. Only lazy people will sit on a chair and wait till his death by saying i am retired.

Then why do you want to call it a retirement plan? You can say it's just a readjustment of our lives from a grand area to a short one. Life can be enjoyable and profitable at the same time. You can turn your enjoyment into your profession if you know how to do that. I saw many people start their own vlog after they quit their job due to health issues. Some even started cooking courses online.

There aren't guarantees in life. Retiring early doesn't guarantee happiness or working until you're old and grey won't guarantee it. What we're unable to ignore is money's going to help the most when retired ppl aren't getting a wage. They'll be depending on investment or pension so they've got to be careful when they're planning for the future. I'd like to retire today. It's about their circumstances but I don't want to work when I'm old and frail. If you're careful where you're saving your money now you'll be able to retire early.
