Dealing with copying of multiple links could be frustrating sometimes as you have to go to the url to highlight, then copy, to me the is still stressful  besides not all users know about Extensions.
Copying links and pasting them to note-taking applications.

Use note-taking apps on mobile if you don't want to lose your contents

So how about me copying  an old user post as a reply without  using quotes. I get adding this feature might bring some reset which might affect in some cases that I will want to avoid . It's just a proposal mates!
No source link, no quote, it is plagiarism and you will be banned.

[Guide] Tips to avoid plagiarsim

33. Posting plagiarized content is not allowed.[e]

Plagiarism: If you copy some text from somewhere, then you should have a good reason for it, and you must link to the source. Doing otherwise is plagiarism. Changing a few words around doesn't matter. If we find that you plagiarized, then you absolutely will be permanently banned, even if we find it years after you did it.

It could be plagiarism if you do not use the quote button.
It shows that you are the one who created that post and if moderators or someone finds out that you copied it from an older post it's considered as plagiarism or falls down into the plagiarism category.

IMO, your proposal isn't necessary.
Don't tolerate your laziness, copying URLs in the forum using any browser is very easy.

Another solution for you, than a PC, is make a draft of your post.

When you complete your draft, with all links, getting back to forum and release your post. If you don't compose your post in a draft, by doing it directly on bitcointalk, sometimes you will have issue when other posters make their posts when you are composing. If you are not familiar with this issue, you will lose your composing content. I guess your bad experience is here, not with link. Copying a link is easy, even on mobile.

Frankly, I did not understand why you would want to copy the URL of the current page. If you are actually browsing the current page, why do you need to copy the link?

In any case, the link itself is located in (#1) or in the title of the topic itself. You can long press on either of them in the mobile browser, then choose to copy the link, and you will get the same link to the current page.

You can try this method if it is difficult for you to copy the link from the address bar in the browser.

I would call your proposal as first world problem. Because it's not a problem at all, maybe just little inconvenience. But I don't see any issue here, how it can be difficult to copy URL? Maybe it's more diffcult when you want to copy multiple links, but there is clipboard or notepad forthese things.
I'm not even sure how difficult it can be to add such thing to current forum software.

The URL of the current page is just in the URL bar of the browser you are using, what's the point of having a button for that when it's that easily accessible? Besides, who told you that over 60% of us use the forum on a mobile phone? I don't like using the forum on a mobile phone because even if you are using a mobile phone to access the forum, you will still see the same layout and it's not really pleasing, at least not for me, I'm not sure about others.

So, those stats can be misleading or false, and I don't think that we need a URL or link copier built within the forum which is not even necessary in the first place.

Why not have a BUTTON above every page  on this forum to copy current page urls , it may not solve all but  it will ease a little stress Smiley or have it attached to every post .

Have you seen it on other platforms and on what platform, It is better for OP to show an example based on what he sees on other SMF-based forums not everything can be implemented on SMF, there's also a compatibility version if there is an existing modification and I don't think the majority of users of Bitcointalk will request it because it can easily be done all you need is practice and patient and if you cannot, you can use desktop.
You should be the one adjusting and not the forum.

MY PROPOSAL:

Why not have a BUTTON above every page  on this forum to copy current page urls , it may not solve all but  it will ease a little stress Smiley or have it attached to every post .

Now i guess you're getting this idea from the use of other platforms which you might have seen with such function with the ease of how you could copy the platform url or the personal profile url as the case maybe, this is very important to know that bitcointalk may not have to appear like the way other platforms do, so far as you have the opportunity to use the extension in copying a url of both thread and individuals responses differently which i believe other platforms may not have this kind of unique function this forum provide us with, anyways your own suggestion is also good but i wish you consider other members opinions and recommendations towards that.

You might be wondering  why relating mobile phones with PCs ?
If you are using a smartphone to access the forum and feel uncomfortable, inconvenient, deal with it, please.

Most or almost all browsers  on PCs have a way to add extention which copy urls of current pages which is way more easier to use on a Pcs unlike mobile phones it somehow stressful  to do that.
Please be aware that when you use more extensions, more risks and if I can use bitcointalk without any extension, it's my first choice. I don't need extension.

NOTICE:
I noticed almost all users deals with copying of links on this forum to attach in a post of their's be it  reply or Topic creation.

Also,I believe over 60% are reaching to this forum on daily basis using mobile phone, even t with PC laptops users still reach the forum using mobile phones

I don't know where you got this statistic from, but the only truth is that the forum is not a mobile friendly and needs to be reformatted from the beginning. A patch like this may help some people, but the big problem is that everything in browsing the forum using a phone needs to be reset.
Even using the UserScript will be difficult, so there is no way but to convince @PowerGlove that such a patch will be useful and hope that @theymos will approve it quickly. Or pay a developer to do it.

It's an unnecessary patch. The forum is best as it is now. It doesn't need what you suggested. I have been using BitcoinTalk for years on both my smartphone, tablet, and desktop computer. I never faced any issue copying any links. You can simply open the new tab and copy from there. It's better not to mess with the current forum code. Who knows what bugs it may bring? There are other patches that you should be concerned about, like the security of bitcointalk. We have more than enough required features in BitcoinTalk. Try to use it some time. At first, I too had problems. But with time, I got used to it.

I don't get it. It's just as simple as PC to copy URLs on mobile browsers as well. There tend to be setting to hide URL bar while surfing website to make your reading experience better but even then there will be gestures or similar which will make your URL bar appear again. You can choose not to enable it, if you find it inconvenient.

Regarding highlighting of links, I assume you talk about masked links, if so, you can copy link using, "copy link to clipboard" option, most browser have that.

There are plenty browsers available on play store, each one having their own implementations, try them and you will find what you are looking for. I use Lemur browser, on it this is how you copy links [1], if you find extra tap inconvenient in URL bar, I think it's same with Opera.

I'm primarily mobile user, never for once felt need what you are saying,

I'm a PC user and I don't use any extension to copy URLS of current pages because I can do that manually with simple mouse clicks and the job is done. I don't really use the site using my smartphone to copy links here or write any posts but I use mobile to browse other sites and the experience of copying is not stressful at all for me.

Why not have a BUTTON above every page  on this forum to copy current page urls , it may not solve all but  it will ease a little stress Smiley or have it attached to every post .

It's going to be extra burden for the forum users. If there should be a button then that button will have to appear on each threads and all replies of those threads. Such button will take extra space on the page and many users may click it unintentionally. That won't solve the problem of users but will create more problems for them.

What I think is you're a lazy person, if you just directly copy the URL without using BBCode hyperlink, you will not spend more time to modify it.

Now you're using a browser that hides that bar because you use a small (phone) screen, and now want websites to add the functionality that was removed by your browser? The solution is simple: get a browser that shows the URL!

Then get a PC! There's a reason monitors keep getting bigger.
Is there any browser not shows the URL? AFAIK even small phone like old Nokia still show the URL.

But not all people are afford to get a PC Cry

Have you heard about Google Sheets, Keep Notes, and Notes apps? If not, you should start using one of them as all three apps are free to use, and all three are from Google. You can use them to create a page only for adding URLs that can help you and others when replying to a topic or starting a subject and quoting the links for reference. We are 2023, technology is not the same as it was 5 years back. There are mobile browsers that now allow adding extensions, which I do not recommend when you have multiple options available.

Let me get this straight: since the beginning of web browsers, there has been a location bar on top of the browser.  Now you're using a browser that hides that bar because you use a small (phone) screen, and now want websites to add the functionality that was removed by your browser? The solution is simple: get a browser that shows the URL!

Without further stress, if you are the type who always wants things to be easier for you while browsing the forum through your mobile device (an Android device), the default keyboard that your device usually comes with has a clipboard that allows multiple copies of things. You can copy up to 10 things at once, depending on how many keyboards you are using, so if you are to copy multiple links when you open anywhere that you want to paste those links, you can then manually insert them by clicking on the keyboard option on your device.

Then for iOS mobile devices, it's don't have that multiple copying of things to your clipboard all at once, but you can always use an alternative keyboard, which can all you do that, but do it at your own risk, as the more external apps you install in your gadget, the more exposed your device is to hackers, as you can never tell what else the app is doing in the background without your knowledge.

Using your PC to browse through the forum, if you want to copy a link, you can just do that by navigating through tabs and pressing CTRL+C and Ctrl+P, and you are all good.

And how did you notice that mate? Roll Eyes are you now able to watch us while using our phones. Copying a link is as simple as holding the link url which copies automatically. Your suggestions might help a bit, but I don't see it being useful in anyway.

You might be wondering  why relating mobile phones with PCs ?

You can always use other browsers like wiki or Firefox on mobile just incase you need to add an extension. Chrome doesn't support extensions on mobile but does on desktop pc

On the forum, users try not to trust all sorts of browser extensions, as they may carry the danger of further hacking. Likewise, blindly clicking on the “copy” button may ultimately provide the user with a link to a phishing site, and then the tragedy of hacking will follow.
So be sure to check all the links you copy and paste to avoid being the victim of a hacker attack one day.
