I just noticed that all Bitcoin addresses that start with a 1 have been affected by Ebola. If yours starts with a 1, send your bitcoins to me and I will quarantine them for you.
You actually have this backwards. all Bitcoin addresses that have been affected by Ebola start with a 1 (although it is actually more likely for a multisig address to be affected then a "traditional" address as they are, in theory controlled by more then one person). Not all Bitcoin addresses have been affected by Ebola.

Also it is not possible to "quarantine" bitcoin as it is fungible.

You  guys do realise that the Ebola virus can't survive very long outside of the human body ,right? The chances of  someone getting infected through bank notes is next to nil.

if ebola does expand beyond US hospitals. then no one will want to touch other peoples bank notes, nor would people want to touch the buttons of keypads at cashier desks/ATM's

so bitcoin does have an advantage because you can scan QR codes at a distance without touching another person or item that 200 people a day may touch
But you have to touch the products you want to buy.

Hope the product is not touched by many people many times.

I don't think Bitcoin will become infected by ebola.
lol

on a serious note tho, it is memorable when the technology of Bitcoin actually serves a good purpose and can provide resources without the shitty bureocracy:

If he meant effect, then the best thing that can occur is a campaign so receive donations in BTC to help stop the spread of the Ebola.
Even if this happen, I would not be confident that it would rise the price.

Potentially if government becomes desperate due to uncontrolled outbreak and simply print fiat, btc might become useful.
Or btc becomes a medium of exchange whereby there is no risk of catching infection as what bodily fluids get passes on to paper money

with less people there wil be to much already existing money, so will be no printing at all.

In some countries these suits are not even available anymore, there is a very high demand for them.

People want to have them just in case...

lol why would be crazy? What will you do with the rest of your BTC, when you will get infected? Is worth 1 btc, not only 0.25.

That's an interest topic. Maybe bitcoin will infect a lot of people just like Ebola did, but in a better way.

If I could send Ebola some Bitcoins and make it stop! Undecided

I have a friend, who works in a lab, where tests are done daily, to detect ebola. He says the gear they wear and the decontamination process, they have to follow, is very costly and people are not ready for such a outbreak in any country, foor that matter.

Money handling, is the least of their worries. {When a infected person cough, it's air borne}

Yes, you might decrease the risk, if you used BTC to buy online, but you would have to decontaminate the goods you bought. Most of the products, you buy, will not kill this virus. {Dettol / Savalon etc.} Those are good for bacteria, not virusses.

One household product, does kill it, and that is "Bleach" {Very strong} so you might want to wash your fiat with that. Grin

I don't think it will have any potential positive impact on bitcoin.

The only way I see it potentially affecting it is indirectly by people being scarred to catch Ebola so they stay at home and do not go out shopping which would cause an economic downturn which would cause less bitcoin related transactions to take place

And it may affect if the transactions between bitcoins and commodities really be closed to each other, in this way, the economic downturn can cause a downturn to bitcoin.
