eBTC Update #1
Simply put, eBTC is Bitcoin on Ethereum. eBTC is not a company — eBTC is a community. Our long term goal and mission is to hybridize the best of Bitcoin into a utility token based on Ethereum’s Blockchain which will bring out the best in both.
eBTC believes transparency is the deciding factor for any community’s success in the long run. We set this in motion with our ICOless and equal distribution of free eBTC to supporters.
20,564,299.77004 of the total 21,000,000 supply of eBTC (~ 97.9%) was successfully distributed to a brand new eBTC community of 8200+ individuals on September 30, 2017.
In the days following the airdrop, a small core team was selected from our new grassroots community to work alongside Satoshi21 in order to pave the road ahead for eBTC.

We’re looking for a couple talented individuals from various backgrounds. Such as those with expertise in software development, marketing, communications, biz dev, graphic design, UI/UX, legal counsel, evangelists, and other valuable talents (describe on form) to join us in our quest to grow eBTC’s community. Members who feel they have the resolve, passion, dedication, and believe in eBTC’s long term vision are encouraged to fill out this form.
The sheer outpouring of support has been amazing. eBTC gained 70+ applicants within the first 36 hours alone and continues to grow hourly. We want to thank everyone who signed up and share our collective vision. If you were not contacted, don’t lose hope, there is a good chance you will be contacted in the future since we highly value community participation.
So far, we’re proud to host a diverse group of volunteers from 30+ nations that include: business managers, coders, UI/UX developers, web designers, graphic designers, Blockchain devs, product marketers, branding specialists, software developers, software engineers, legal counsel, PR, social media specialists, communications, crypto analysts, IT Consultants, an accredited investor/VC, and even a chef signed up to assist in the long-term success of eBTC. Our current core team consists of 14 members which manage everything from day-to-day operations in software to marketing. We welcome this spirit and can’t thank our ever growing community of supporters enough.
Please note: On October 5, an issue was discovered within the code of Satoshi21’s original contract — the original implementation of eBTC. He mistakenly forgot to change it when he decided not to have an ICO. The function distributeEBTC in the token contract was found to allow the owner of said contract (Satoshi21) to essentially mint unlimited new tokens. It has not been exploited, and it will never be exploited. eBTC will forever remain at 21,000,000 tokens. As soon as it was discovered, the team collectively started brainstorming ideas immediately on how to address the situation and possible solutions. A game plan has formed and will be implemented in the coming days and weeks.
How can the community help contribute to make eBTC a long-term success?
We have two “coin addition” petitions started at this time. One at Shapeshift.io and another at Cex.io. The bottom line with larger platforms is usually tokens will not be listed until the a value of function has been determined/proven. This means these exchanges will need to understand the underlying usefulness of eBTC which also includes it’s vision and community.
