Information available on the internet is vast and we can't really know everything in it and yes obtaining the right information is really challenging and time consuming and if there is a way to filter out the things and you know something effective way then yes it would be gladly welcomed by everyone.

Personally I trust very few crypto news sites only even in that there are many news which are mostly comes with the intention of manipulation so news is just a part to make strategies and I am never rely on it completely.
^ Choosing a legitimate and popular crypto news website is always the best option and it should be reliable.
You should not rely on one source, there are a bunch of them that you must check and compare them. I have noticed that all crypto news has the same content on their blog and I think it is no different from others. If you have internet, just simply search on Google and you will get the answer, 3-5 sources will be the best choice.

I think this concern shouldn't be a problem in the first place.

I suggest OP to not make things too much complicated as getting crypto news is just around the corner. They are everywhere!

Nothing to worry about too if you encounter crappy news because I'm sure as a person who browses the internet for a long, you should at least know how to identify fake crypto news to not.

[Disclaimer] If I see these problems are particularly felt by the community, I may patch my personal solution into a product others can use.

I have not read comments from other users, so, i dont know what their opinion is concerning this, but for me personally, i buy the idea, all you said above are problems i encounter too, having traded forex before coming into crypto, i understand how important news is to a trader, it acts as a deciding factor, trading a currency without know what is the latest happenings in that currency is what we call blind trading or trading blindly which also equals to gambling.
Crypto currency space is still growing and still needs a lot of mending, in the area of news, there is no particular source to focus on, An important information concerning a coin can be seen one news outlet  and not been seen on several others, this is not helpful, most especially to traders who need this information to calculate the market..

So indeed, if you are going to make a tool that can bring all the important information to one place for easy accessibility, then be sure you have a user in me.

I'm curious to know whether you also face the problems I've listed above? Alternatively, what problems do you experience when gathering news, if any?

Thank you.
Valerio
You will face this problem if there are too many coins that you are looking for news, maybe focusing on a few coins will save more time and don't need all the media about your crypto as a reference, just what you trust.
Will the software that you will develop later become free software?
That's true and that's what humans sometimes find themselves in,
it's better to focus on looking for news on some coins that we trust, maybe 3 to 5 coins are still normal,
but again it all depends on you because all decisions are up to us

You could check this site, this might help I believe since they have updated news hourly (if I'm not mistaken) about cryptocurrency, like any hot news about any cryptocurrency or interesting news about it that might help you in a certain way. Their UI is very clean and very user friendly, you're not gonna confuse on what to press or anything.

E D I T: I'm not promoting them or anything, just wanted to help OP.

You don't need any strategies to keep yourself updated with crypto and news. You can use the forum. Anything that is trending most likely is being discussed on this forum. You can use google too. Google and you will find some good crypto currency related news portals. You can go through those every day.

And since you are also looking for coin specific news, go to coinmarketcap, select the coin that you want to keep yourself updated about, keep it on your watchlist, and when you scroll down, you will see all the news about the coin from different news portal.

I'm following this website too: https://cryptopanic.com/ since it filters a lot of noise regarding news, it may have features that you wanted that may cater your needs. If you want to build something I think you can make this one as a source for inspiration and coinmarketcap as well as others suggested.

...I think I'm not the only one facing these problems, but I may be overlooking something, given I'm new in the space...

Obviously, this is due to the fact that you are trying to track too much information for a large number of coins. In this case, you need to identify priority areas for yourself, which would include tracking news on 3-5 coins of interest to you.

I could remembered then how i do follow this platform to get updates from upcoming projects and listing in exchanges and CMC. I have wrongly engaged myself with some wrong updates, it was a token listed on Hotbit.io and i made a deposit to trade on that exchange but lastly was dumped over me so i limited to follow news on their website all less a token or coin that would be listing on Binance.

Gathering a lot of news takes a long time and causes confusion, it is enough to follow some reliable channels of Telegram and Twitter and take the most important news from there, you cannot follow all the news and check the good and bad ones, you have to focus your efforts in searching for a specific thing or coin that you are interested in , usually coins that have a special event that makes a noise around them that causes them to trend in the media, and then you can search in more detail and gather more information about this coin.
And even if somehow you could get all of that information you still have to go through the trouble of reading it, interpreting it and then to take action based on the news you have read.

To me this whole process seems to be too time consuming and even if you could do it by the time you try to do a trade most likely those which are not interested in gathering that much information already made their move, and even those which only watch the charts would have probably already realized something was going on the market and made their move too, so it seems like something which will take a lot of effort for almost no gain.

Having gone through this process for a few months, I've identified 3 problems:
- Finding news for multiple crypto currencies is time consuming, meaning there's a lot of noise to filter out.
- Reading articles / watching videos on crypto takes significant time.
- Relevant information is scattered all over the place. Back to point 1 wrt investing considerable time to put together all the info I need for my trading decisions.

You will not be able to cover all the news, this is unrealistic, because there are a lot of altcoins on the market. And the very idea of trading on the news is too expensive in terms of analysis and decision-making on entry points to a particular asset. I tried trading like this once, it is very time consuming, it is faster and easier to look at charts and look for good patterns than to read all the news and try to understand whether this news will lead to volatility or not. In my opinion, buying assets on the news makes sense in the medium term. If you are a day trader or a scalper, then the news will not help you much, it is easier to learn how to read charts.

you don't need to read all the news, just browse and filter what you think is important in your trading activities. also, if you are interested in particular coins, just dedicate your time reading about those coins, their social media updates and other developmental updates. your head will go crazy if you will try to get a hold of what's going on in every project.

You can put different sources into a feed system and get that on a single update. While I applaud the attempt to do this, how much good info you will get from it how much you can actually apply in trading is doubtful.

Because people have been trying this for years and every time they are late by the time they get the news. You will not get that first mover advantage that you have been thinking of.

Still the only reason why people do this is to make money, which can be done with spot trading after reading charts and planning your buy/sell levels even after the news. Not all news are reliable as well.

Though I would consider them factual data which is also important to take into consideration while investing and trading bitcoin I believe you should focus more on to technical analysis. Many times TA can be upper hand in the crypto trading because this market very volatile and it could leave the boundaries of facts anytime given the trade. I am more or less trading less and hodling more so I know one thing sure, news may or may not affect the bitcoin prices and with the time they are getting very disconnected. So don’t take that factor into consideration at A+ level but may be just for reference. And best source is forum itself.

To address these issues, I'd like to build a piece of software to automatically get in my inbox all the crypto news I need organised by currency (I'm a programmer). The system scans several info outlets, creates article summaries, and sends the ones that are relevant to me. Every day.

I think I'm not the only one facing these problems, but I may be overlooking something, given I'm new in the space.

I suppose there are other investors which may have the same problems as you when it comes to finding the information they want about the coins they are following, but why not just use Google alerts or another similar service instead of trying to code your own solution when something free is already available?

Maybe it does not do exactly what you want but it is a starting point which could be easily refined by using some filters, and the best part is that it would not require an enormous amount of effort before you see results which are good enough.

In cryptocurrency market, it is hard to succeed if you are relying on news. Because news are faked and used to manipulate the market. If you believe in news, you are believing in market manipulators. Manipulators don't make you rich, they make themselves richer but you will get poorer.

The more effective strategy to succeed in crypto is to ignore news and focus on fundamentals of projects that you are interested in and want to invest in.
What you say is true but on the other hand I think we should keep up to date with the latest news,
after all it is an important thing but indeed we should not focus on that alone,
What is clear is that to find a strategy that suits us, it certainly takes a process

I use a news aggregator in the past but it has been closed down. Other alternatives are Twitter from journalists or TG channels of news websites.

I think your program can be useful, as long as it is not a paid service since most of the time people would rather stick to channels or social media. If you're planning to monetize it, maybe ads or patreon would be more than enough. It is not going to give you a lot of money for sure, but for a passive income, it should be okay. That being said, build it for your own purpose first.
