I am not really sure whether the return on investment from ico has been stopped.

the prohibition of ico and bitcoin occurring is scorned, this has the effect of decreasing bitcoin and altcoin. yes really annoying, makes very hot.
but I believe everything will be back to normal. there is a possibility this is a chinese game that makes rumors. but I'm not too sure.

What do you think will happen to crypto currencies following the latest news on the #ban on ICO in China?

will the already successful ICO's refund people's monies to them?

Is it good for governments to ban the use of crypto currencies?

Tell me what you think about any of these.  Smiley

I heard some rumors circulating a few days ago that the prohibition of ICO in China is only temporary to control the cryptocurrency in China.

I think the ICO ban could have long-ranging effects on crypto, but isn't anything that should have not been expected. Eventually every ICO will need to register in MOST countries as a security. For me, this isn't a negative. It means we will see it become harder and harder for new coins to get funding and regulations will increase dramatically.

The early coins that can manage to get thru all the red-tape in various countries will be HUGE and their value will increase to the moon. Meanwhile a lot of these smaller projects will be kept out of the major markets and access to funding. That is sad, but inevitable.

ICO might be a part of crypto, but is the growth of project that matters to strengthen this economy.

Apparently the effect of BAN is not causing havoc as expected, passionate china traders would eventually get another way to participate i believe.

i believe this a temporary ban,but the question is when are they going to lift the Injunction.
This has really affected many upcoming ICO's within the Asian Terrain
The china government have stated themselves that this ICO ban is just temporary, the official regulation regarding ICO will be released by the government as follows. there's so many people are so dramatic that after the ICO ban announcement they went insane and now hopefully their mind will back to normal again.
and not, it's not affecting the ICO that much in asian, just china government and people in its regional.
I also hope what you say is true because China has made everyone lose a lot of assets because of this ban and this is not good for those who are looking to invest in Chinese ICO projects.
No, I really like the government of China banned ICO market in their country, they created a FUD on market and helps me buy many potential tokens with cheap price. On crypto market, does not have many good opportunities like now while the ICO market recently always attractive investors investing to it.

China market is major role in the bitcoin market and altcoin market. China contribute 45% to run the market and so many ice are coming from China because they know that is big market where they can earn huge profit. Now bitcoin will run slowly and trading will be continue in the market.

The potential of blockchain technology is both limitless as well as scary. Only the future will tell where this will go. As to banning ICOs, no one can really ban them, the same way no one has succeeded in banning torrent file sharing. Still, there is indeed a huge need for some type of global regulation as this is getting out of hand. Going through some of the forum’s threads, one will find a great deal of advice on which crypto currency to buy, when to do so, which is the best ICO right now as well as opinions on many other crypto-related topics. Each member is of course entitled to their opinion, but the truth of the matter is, that there are conflicting voices / advice out here. Adding salt to injury is exactly the fact that basically any scammer with some basic knowledge in regards to the field of crypto currency and computing, may proceed with issuing their own currency robbing people. My advice to everyone is to exercise a great deal of caution when it comes to investing your currency and future. Make sure that you will have all the facts, you will thoroughly investigate all new ICOs as well as the team behind them and that you will not proceed with rush decisions based on ‘feeling’, but rather on pure knowledge. This is the key to long-term success in my book. Just my two cents of advice!

now they say it's just temporary ban. :/ is this a trick from China trader?

Then it's a good news, I will buy more of the tokens which lost value as a result of this ban. I think there will be a massive pump in these currencies, especially NEO.

A lot of people seem to be thinking just that. A lot of chinese government officials might want prices to go down so they can buy in cheaper

I think it's a good news overall for the crypto-economy in the long run. Reasonable regulation can be beneficial for the entire blockchain industry. This way, ICO scams will be easier to filter out, leaving room for good legit projects to gain funding and build actual, useful products or services.

Exactly, less scams means more money to the good projects!

I think the Chinese government only regulated ICO's to protect people from getting scammed throughout the country and spread to the crypto community. And for me I think that Chinese government will give permission or allow legitimate ICO's to operate they are just concern about the peoples safety and investment since we all know that China has big role in any business market. At first I think about that issue as a total ban in China but some people say the government only regulated those ICO's so I think FUD is the only reason of the dump happened recently not the government of China.
