This was not the best game to watch, somewhat dull but this win against Spurs makes it the 4th consecutive EFL Cup that Manchester City have won but it is also another year that lots of talk about them winning the quadruple failed because are out of the FA Cup.

At most this season they will win the Premier League and Champions League but if they end the season as EFL Cup winners and Premier League winners it will not be enough because of the money they spent to build their team.

As brilliant a coach Guardiola is, at Manchester City he will always be judged on winning or failing to win the Champions League. Guardiola won the Champions League twice as manager of Barcelona in 2009 and 2011 both victories in the finals against Manchester United. That team was dominated by Xavi, Iniesta and Messi but Guardiola failed to win the Champions League at Bayern Munich and Manchester City.

Congratulations to Manchester City for winning.

I agree with of what you said but I think this EFL Cup isn't all too important anyway. It's not really prestigious in my eyes. At least both teams played with their best quads.

As for the money argument you brought up, well, that's quite the same for Paris SG. One team that spends absolutely insane amounts on players will lose this semi final. It's billionaires against billionaires, so one of them has to lose.

Fc Barcelona between 2009 and 2011 was probably the best soccer team that ever existed. Their dominance of other top teams was out of this. Champions League is tough and also driven by at least some luck. When Real Madrid won it three times in a row, they were lucky in a good number of games.

On thing is for sure: it is going to be exciting the next couple of weeks! Wink

My guess was wrong but at least City won
Not totally wrong. You and I predicted Man City will win the match, then it comes true.
Unfortunately, the final score isn't the same as predicted. lol

But UCL dificult i choice Madrid to win.
So, Man City won't get 2 trophies if Madrid will win UCL, mate?  Cheesy
Yep, if all Madrid key players can play, surely Madrid has a higher chance to win UCL.
Sadly, Sergio Ramos still got injured and must take a rest some weeks. His role is very crucial because he is the captain and best Central Defender of Real Madrid.

Admittedly or not, but football in the current pandemic condition is less interesting to watch because without the roar of cheers from the audience inside the stadium, the game in football seems to have lost its appeal to be enjoyed, we can see how the final match will be. yesterday was very boring and the game was not like a decisive match, to be honest I even changed the television channel before the game was over because it was so boring..
Congratulations to Manchester City ... !!
I hope the pandemic is over soon and we can see football again rumbling with shouts from the crowd as players dribble.

But what's wrong with Levy..why not wait till the end of the season before you sack Mourinho!
After Mourinho toiled to take them to a final, you deprive him of that chance!
It's sad to see they have sacked my hero, but now I start to think Mourinho is no longer the special one. However, I need one more proof that this guy is done 100%, before lowering my expectation.

Anyway, not sure if Spurs made a wrong decision about it since it's all gamble. Deep down in my heart I'd like to see Mourinho successes with Spurs, but it seems there is no improvement for the past 18 months. He had to go. The timing doesn't matter since they fail this season and still have something to salvage. He was likely going to fail in the final anyway.

It feels like Mourinho isn't full into it anymore, tired of soccer or whatever. Will be interesting to see which club he will manage next. I doubt it will be another top club. Most have their managers and I believe the hype around Mourinho isn't the same as it used to be.

PSG just got a new coach, they also won't be interested. Hard to tell where he might end up.

Anyway, what do you guys think of City HT - FT at 2.06?

Most probably a safe bet to be honest (probably).
Put it this way, no Kane doesn’t inspire confidence in any other outcome.

Hah lost again.  Sad  Wtf is it with the covid era?  Betting on football used to be easy!  Lolol.

Anyway did you guys see Son cry when the match ended?  You could really see how he really wanted to win the League Cup.  I mean it’s hilarious cos it’s the League Cup but I feel for Son.  He’s a player who deserves to win some silverware.

Footballers are very fragile and overworked these days. The issue with Mourinho is that he is too brutally honest with players. Its great when the team is playing well but as soon as the team starts underperforming, he tells them what he really thinks. Which nobody likes and it always turns into a slippery slope. Also alienating future prospects(in this case, D. Ali) doesnt sit well with the management as well as the team.

Sad to see Spurs lose their only chance for silverware in a very long time. Hopefully Ryan Mason at least helps the team securing European competition spot. Which are heavily contested at the moment.

I think Manchester City will win. They have better players, their league is more stable.
I think so. Man City should have a higher chance to win it. All Man City players are ready to do their best in this match, while for Tottenham seems Hary Kane got injured, I didn't see his name on the lineups of the previous match in Premier League. If we consider the player's quality, Man City surely has better, especially for the midfielders. Also, Man City players are likely to play more confidently and solidly.

I predict Man City to win the trophy. [Man City 3-1 TottenhamCool

Had Mourinho remained as Tottenham hotspur boss, i would have said this is a straightforward victory for Pep as we all know Jose would park the bus and wait to hit on the counter; but with new coach Mason, and a re ignited training approach, what can we expect from the spurs team? a cautious football ? park the bus ? dominate midfield tactics ? Its going to be an interesting game and am tipping Mason to a victory over pep tonight.

Manchester city 1:2 Tottenham Hotspur

Well, there will be a mass exodus of players from white hart lane including Harry Kane!
That club ain't serious!

Harry Kane still trophyless after over 6 prolific seasons. The dude should just maneuver a move to Chelsea.. they are the only club truly in need of a striker and can win trophies.

Manchester City 1-0 Tottenham Hotspur

The irony about the final was Laporte scored the winning goal 8 minutes before the end of the game but he should have been sent off for two obvious yellow card offences in the first half.

This was another game that was a let down, just a boring final with no excitement but well done Manchester City for winning the EFL Cup again.

The match has started, of course, I am here to support man city for the victory, what many say is the worst of the Spurs at this time there have been many mistakes after being in Mourinho's grasp but now there is coach Ryan mason I want to know how Spurs deal with Mancity's squarer tea. even some players have recovered.
Mancity is still a lot expected this season with 3 trophies at once, UCL, PL, and EFL if all three can be achieved I think Pep Guardiola will be the best coach with the most expensive players.

I think CIty will win 3-0. Cool
It is possible because City are the stronger team and have the better squad but it is a cup final an anything could happen

Its going to be an interesting game and am tipping Mason to a victory over pep tonight.

Manchester city 1:2 Tottenham Hotspur
I am also going for a 1-2 score line. It is going to be tough but Tottenham could end their trophy drought.

Man City are clearly favourites, they’re expected to win & they should given Guardiola has the most expensive squad in world sport (that’s right, not just football, world sport).

I’m rooting for Spurs though, you have to love David when he takes on Goliath.
Rooting for the underdog has always been an attribute for neutrals when they watch big games. Tottenham already beat Manchester City in the semi-finals of the Champions League a couple of seasons ago so they can win big games against City.

Tottenham is in shambles since Poch left and it was starting to be in shambles during his last season.
Spurs really have been inconsistent since Pochettino was sacked. I think he was treated unfairly by their chairman Daniel Levy. They need a good manager with a 3 year plan and he should be allowed to carry on the good work started by Pochettino.

~snip~

The EFL Cup final is taking place at Wembley today. Two of the 6 clubs that tried to breakaway and form the European Super League are in the final. I think this will end with a first trophy win for Spurs since 2008: Manchester City 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur  Grin

I wanted Man City to win, I thought they would win 2-0. The latest news I have heard Sergio Aguero and Kevin de Bruyne are preparing to perform after injury. They will try to get this champion as their initial target to get 3 trophies. Man city is better now, they appear quite stable. Unlike Tottenham, their start to the season was good but ultimately unstable. Regarding the Super League I don't understand but if UEFA officially prohibits clubs from joining the Super League then it could be their title if the champions can be disqualified.

I think Manchester City will win. They have better players, their league is more stable. Even though they have a busy schedule, it looks like Pep is good at rotating players. Interim coach Ryan Masonn may have the motivation, if he manages to win it can add to his good image in English football. But it's very difficult, Tottenham have to work hard to beat City. I think CIty will win 3-0. Cool
