Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
The person who distributes the Electron Cash binaries has decided to
remain anonymous, and uses the fake name "Jonald Fyookball" in order
to sign Electron Cash binaries. Thus, if these binaries contain code
that is designed to steal your bitcoins, the author of the theft will
be anonymous and walk away safely with your funds.

Jonald is a well known enemy of the realm and a royal shill of Shitmain Corp. He won't be able to stay anonymous for long if he commits more crimes against the bitcoin community.
None of this stuff is "crimes" unless they release a malicious version.  Besides, I've found that jonald is not the lead developer.

Anyway, considering the warning that they have on their page:
Quote from: electroncash.org
We STRONGLY encourage you to test only with very small amounts until you are comfortable things are working as expected. Be especially carefully running both Electron Cash and Electrum at the same time. We are not associated with or endorsed by Electrum.
I've decided that it's fine.  They've distinguished between them and Electrum.  I'll lock the thread now.

I am kind of upset Bcash allowed this to happen for the sake of trying to get name recognition for their coin but if they want to their potential users of their coin scammed that's up to them.

Everything about bcash is fake.

They try to steal bitcoin name, they try to steal its users, they steal their wallets.

Look if they wanted to use electrum's name, there is nothing to stop them. They changed it to electron because electrum dev kindly asked it. They are not going to leave bitcoin name that easy. If they want war I guess we had to give it to them.

I wonder now if Bill Gates/Steve Jobs were right about open source.

They are pumping BCC price to get more user to claim their BCC and then they will steal your bitcoins when you provide them your private key.

On Bitcoin Cash's website, one of the wallets being advertised on there was "Electrum Cash".  Electrum issued a statement here to say that they did not create the "Electrum Cash" wallet, and that it "constitutes a trademark infringement".

Since then, the Bitcoin Cash website has changed the link to the site electroncash.org.  They are still trying to trick Bitcoin users with the Electrum logo, and in the context of a Bitcoin fork I consider this very misleading.  They just very slightly changed the name and this completely unrelated wallet is still abusing Electrum's good reputation.
Thats not at all fair.In morning,i read a news that some one lost his 40 BTC by downloading a wallet having fake name as electrum.Thats ridiculous. Those who are aiming to get free BCC must be very cautious at this time.Otherwise, they would have to lose their hardly earned bitcoins.

Fck, i just lose 1 BCH. The software move MY BCH to the same BTC address what i withdrawal before.

So its lost right?

You should move all your bitcoins to a new wallet first. I'm using electrum with my new wallet but I imported my old wallet into elextron to get my BCC. They say they not with electrum on their site. I'm not sure a out before.

Since Electron Cash is distributed as a binary we don't know the code. It could be a delayed malware code that activates x days afterwards.

I haven't done anything yet with BCC. Why can't Electrum just create a version of wallet just for BCC? That way we know we have a trustworthy source.

Electrum doesn't trust BCash. You shouldn't too.

I don't get why they don't come up with original names and designs for their wallets. Whether they were maliciously trying to abuse Electrum's reputation as a wallet provider or not, it is definitely an amateur move and doesn't give much confidence to the coin.

They don't even come with their own code for BCC, what would you expect for their wallets? Roll Eyes
bitcoin cash made it clear they are doing a bilateral split (altcoin).
seems people are just over dramatising things.
I agree in most cases.  I didn't intend for this thread to be a vague attack on Bitcoin cash in general.  Just an attack on "Electron Cash" who Electrum have now been warning people about.

I do think that often people let their opinions get in the way of their judgement (for example, saying "Bitcoin Cash will get dumped to the ground the second people can access it").  However, I still think it's relevant for people to know that the Electron Cash wallet has only just popped up with anonymous devs and disapproval from Electrum.
So they have changed the name of electrum cash wallet to electron cash and changed the name from BCC to BCH i guess as there is already a coin with BCC which is bitconnect and i really do not think that they are tricking anyone into anything.
Those are completely and utterly unrelated facts which you pointlessly strung together.

Does the Bitcointalk and Reddit user jonald_fyookball have any ties to the wallet?  I'd better PM him and ask.

Those are completely and utterly unrelated facts which you pointlessly strung together.
Then what makes you think that they are tricking any users, people who use bitcoin or any other crypto currency must learn about those before investing their money,so there is no tricking any one into anything here.

So its lost right?

If the bitcoin transaction was made after the fork, the blockchain of the bitcoin cash wallet won't see the transaction.

If it was made before the split, you never had the BCH in the first place.

It shouldn't be lost simply because a BTC transaction was made (unless you mean you manually moved the coins to a bitcoin address instead of a BCH address, then im not sure)

I don't know, but I'm having issues. too. Started a new wallet with my keys in Electron Cash. It is empty and showing the correct transaction history since I moved my BTC to a new wallet to be save.

I tryed to sweep my keys from bitcoin core into the Electron Cash wallet. But the transactions never verified and just vanished this morning. How do I redeem my BCC coming from a core wallet?

electrum's been stolen a few times. the litecoin version isn't endorsed by them either.
As it says in their statement:
We have never enforced our trademark against altcoin versions of
Electrum (such as Litecoin, etc), because we consider that users of
these altcoins are well aware of the distinction between Bitcoin and
their coin, and that they cannot be harmed by that confusion. However,
we do not agree with the use of the Electrum name in the context of a
Bitcoin fork, because it suggests that we endorse that fork, and that
we also endorse that wallet.
It's plain disrespectful for "Electrum Cash" to know about Electrum's objection and choose to still push the boundaries with "Electron Cash" instead of just admitting to being a new wallet.
BCC supporters know very well that majority of bitcoin investors would not support BCC and they would not transfer their BTC to BCC wallets for getting BCC.Already, most of the popular exchanges have announced that they would not support BCC and some have said that if bitcoin holders wish to have BCC,then they should withdraw their bitcoins and keep it in other wallets. So,BCC supportes are trying to mislead BTC holders by giving their BCC wallet name as Electrum cash wallet.Thats not fair.

bitcoin cash made it clear they are doing a bilateral split (altcoin). unlike elements:segwit which is trying to take over bitcoin, changing everything from the keypairs, block template design, network topology and everything else..

so why all the drama about bitcoincash..

litecoin dont even come with their own raw / from scratch code for litecoin. its a direct copy of core...electrum and other bitcoin based software

how is litecoin any different then the drama of the bch altcoin. or any other altcoin like clams

seems people are just over dramatising things.

yes i expect my post to get deleted because some people dont like to be hit with the logic stick...

It looks like they are no longer using a similar logo or font. Also, a big disclaimer on the front page clears out they are not endorsed by Electrum.

Yes, after being called out for using another branded name in the bitcoin community again. Would people want to support this coin anyway after these things? I guess not.
