Apparently my €50 of BTC is now worth only €27 - but at least the right number of BTC is appearing in the History page of Electrum.
That sounds about right... BTC in January was worth nearly ~US$19K... Now it is under US$10K
On the other hand the Receive screen stlll shows it as Pending. Presumably after a while it will show as confirmed?
Question Someone responded that my Receive transaction in Electrum was not necessary and that I could delete it.
No... what you are looking at is the "receive
request" on the "Receive" tab. These requests are a bit like "invoices" that you can create and send to someone. They send you the funds and Electrum matches up the payment with the request and marks it as "complete" etc. It's a way of tracking payments when you're requesting funds from people.
For whatever reason, Electrum has not matched up the amounts in this instance (likely because the amount of BTC you got from BitPanda does not match the BTC amount on the request). In any case, you can safely delete the entry on the "Receive" tab... it is effectively meaningless... and will NOT affect your balance.
But without a Receive transaction, how would I get a new Receiving Address ?
(afaik it should be unique for every transaction?)
Just look at the "Receive" tab, it will display an address that you can copy/paste. You don't need to enter an amount or a label or click "save". Also, You can look at the "Addresses" tab... ("
View ->
Show Addresses" if you can't see the tab)... and select an address from there that is unused.
Note that while it is
recommended to use unique addresses for each transaction (for privacy reasons), it is certainly not compulsory. You can re-use addresses it just reduces your privacy (and the privacy of those transacting with you) by a small degree if you do.
