When you see marketcap it doesnt mean that this is how much money is inside of something. It just means these are how many coins there are (x), this it the price (y). Ergo, we have x * y = marketcap. Can be misleading

at times to beginners I feel because I originally thought it meant money inside a project too.

It's better to just purchase the coin later because their twitter doesn't verify that the coin that you are writing about is the same one as the other.
