This is not the first time youtube ads like that. They are almost impossible to control all daily scam ads posted to YouTube. Hopefully newbie involved in the crypto will not be scammed by these ads.

How Youtube allow this shit? I can imagine tons of people fall for this and actually send him Bitcoin.

Send 0.3 BTC and double it and get 0.6 BTC lmao

https://prnt.sc/11955a9

And youtube appove that? are they idiots?

Don't blame youtube here! This advertising is coming from someone's adwords account. It is impossible for Google to filter out such ads unless the users report it to them! Also, just like facebook, Google should implement a manual verification layer before any of their advertisements go live. That would save common people from a lot of hassles. The process is simple - every advertisements should be checked and manually passed by a human. If you are familiar with Facebook advertising platform, you must have noticed that any ads don't go to approval stage directly. It has to pass a manual verification.

Otherwise, there is no way to stop such scammers permanently. They will keep on coming back in different name, look and feel.

Who is really to blame here! youtube or those greedy people who fall stupidly for an obvious cheap scam? There is no such thing as free money, nobody hands out thousands to you just like that and certainly not Elon Musk,
How people can be so greedy and gullible to fall for shit like this still beats my imagination, people really need to wake up,  when it sounds too good to be true then watch out because it is not real.

Youtube can't control everything people those in their site, reason why there is a disclaimer,  almost like using this forum and you fall into scam in the process would you be blaming bitcointalk for your own actions! I don't think so.

Again?

Youtube really don't filter their ads again. That's been like months that's been happening and they've took action for a while but then again allowing it?

Shame on them.

Youtube only cares about the money which they are generating through the ads. They will not care if anyone is promoting any scam. I don't know if its a part of their policy to check the scams before approving the ads. They can't check each and every ad to see if it is made to scam or not. However, in this case it was easy spotable and they should have removed it from the ad campaign.

I visited the website and they have set it up using Medium. We need to report it to Medium admin, and hopefully they will close down the webpage. But I suspect a lot of people have already lost their money to this scam. Their webpage is full of fake comments such as this one:

Quote
Just received 5.9 bitcoin in my electrum wallet! Thank you so much! We are with you!

Quote
It works! I Got 1 btc after sending .10 ! Thank you very much!

Quote
Thanks man! Markets are crazy and this is a welcome in these hard times! I can brag now - I got 4 Bitcoin !

They use sites such as Microworkers to recruit people to post such comments, in return for a small payment of $0.05 or $0.10. I have 7 years of experience here in cryptocurrency and therefore I could easily identify such scams. But new users may fall victim.

Of course, the problem is that for these scams to work, they have to make them credible and they work hard at it because it is profitable for them. We have at least one forum member who has fallen for it:

When would I get my bitcoins from Elon Musk?

The requirements for advertising on YouTube are getting relaxed. The high demand for advertisements causes less standard preview especially on security even though these scammers are on behalf of well-known companies and institutions.

This shit happens literally everyday and youtube just doesn't really care about this stuff, as long as they got the money they just let it go without caring about the risk and the experience of users.
It has been explained in YouTube's policies implicitly that will not be responsible for the risk of advertisements being displayed means that they do not care about your loss as long as their advertising services are paid in full.

Also I have just realized that on Twitch, the scammer also impersonates as Elon Musk with same scheme as well. Smart users wouldn't fall on that trap, but I feel sorry for those who really believes those.

While I can understand why people are angry that this is happening again at the same time we are the sole protectors of our coins, this is what we wanted and that means that we need to be smart enough to avoid scams like this, and anyone that is not smart enough to do so is probably not going to last long on the market as there are too many scammers trying all kind of tactics so they can get you to send your coins to them, and once you do it those coins are gone for good.

Here we go again and this kind of thing is quite normal on youtube cause they don't do anything about it. Scammers are just carefully observing things and when they see some holes on some platform like youtube, they will inject their scamming method which will gonna fool the others that are not aware of them. Youtube really need to fix their system and update their security to prevent scams such as this false giveaways.

I don't know what type of people still fall for this scam. It is obviously fake, how can anyone double the amount of their bitcoin. This is not even possible if bitcoin was cheap like 2019. I'd rather waste the 0.3 btc on gambling or buy some lowcap altcoin rather than believing in them.  Reporting the ads can help but they just keep making a new one. Youtube should take down these ads or this could be a bad impact for bitcoin in long term if many people will still believe in this.

There are so many people who are caught up in this. One of them is my friend, he gets a message from the telegram and sends his ETH to the account, sometimes I still really wonder why there are still people who are so stupid who believe in things like this.

have they ever filtered their ads before? Youtube is owned by Google who doesn't filter its ads too so I wasn't surprised to see ads like that.

@OP this should be posted in scam accusations. there is a move button on the bottom left of the thread. or you can ask mods to move the thread for you by reporting it on "report moderator"
I think they did somehow when a lot of reports has been made and it is quite a time when I have seen the same ad until op posted it.

They should do something on it and make it automated upon ads being made such as that scam ad.

This is the old way of scammers and they are sure to appear in every bitcoin and altcoin rally. This is their site officialelon2x.com, and I also found another suspicious site official-giveaways-medium.com registered on the same day according to https://com.all-url.info/20/110/ which might be used as a backup if the site is currently shut down by the domain provider.

I've written this [Guide]: How To Report Fake Crypto Related Youtube videos.

Maybe it's time for others to look at it, specially those who don't practice reporting fake sites. It will only take you a couple of minutes to do it, but you will help a lot of crypto enthusiast, specially newbies not to fall for this scheme.

You also need to add or link to the tutorial on how to report a site and multiple YouTube ad formats in your thread

Ain't know why there are people who fooled a scam strategy like this which is very obvious it's a scam, ain't know if Elon Musk is generous kind behind of his being the richest people on earth who will give that amount to random people.  You must think about it before they will be the next victim.

I tend to agree above if you saw the live video or a video like this, report immediately so that YouTube will be shutting down quickly the videos, they are social media too and they can't able to filter what is a video uploaded or what is the content of the live video, once they receive reports it might be that's the right time they will shutdown the video.

From Twitter to Youtube and then what next? How many times there will be a victim until people will educate on such a kind of fraud activity.

it has become a standard for people to always present themselves as stars and in a bid to do a thing or two and then they create an avenue for extortion. except for noobs, i do not see a situation where someone will pay attention to that even after knowing that accounts of top profiled government can get hacked.

Youtube's ad and privacy algorithm is very erroneous, so it's not surprising that things like these fly off their radars. Although of course, this is bad news for people who are not really savvy with crypto and bitcoin, or even perhaps the newbies that just got into bitcoin not too long ago. At this point, it is our own responsibility to take care of ourselves, we can't expect the internet to be very forgiving and generous to people who are complacent with their safety.
