So I was right. I have been seeing tweets regarding this but I was not sure if it was true. However, you made a good point here about users not actually owning their usernames and can be taken away by the platform whenever they want. If it is true that Elon offered those things to the recent username owner then I think it was pretty generous of him and based on the previous owner's tweet it seems like he expected it to happen the moment X was announced.

Now this may look like it is a funny post. However, it is true that Elon Musk took the username name x from its previous owner (now the owner is using username (x1234567898765). It was all over the platform and people were asking if Elon bought the username yet the previous username owner never answered. The attached photo from op can be found on the reply on of the previous owner's recent tweets.

I can't say with all assurance that this could be the Official Elon Musk Handle as I believe that check tag or marks are easily to get than before so whomever that got verified could be able change their profile details without any restrictions in my opinion. And from my understanding the write up looks like a cheap Nigerian scammer as I believe Elon Musk himself can't just go pm someone in the way without any sign to show. That's to say he can't write in that way as he is not a mad and a naughty writer who does things for a joke. But however, I might be wrong with my thinking as anything is possible if he could buy off twitter what more X.
Maybe he wanna buy X who knows if he planned this to launch a crypto exchange.

1.Buying and selling accounts is against Twitter's Terms of Service.
2.Elon Musk is the owner of twitter, he could simply ban/suspend/delete this X account and take possession over this username/Twitter handle.
Not the nicest thing to do, but who cares. Grin

I kinda get Elon's plan to build a "super app", that will have many functionalities, but buying Twitter and totally changing it's brand, logo and business model still seems like a mistake.

I don't think Elon Musk's Twitter account is https://twitter.com/ElonMuskAOC but rather https://twitter.com/ElonMusk so the account below that made the $69.42M bid is not Elon Musk's, even the account name is a little different.

The ease of accounts getting the blue mark made fraud much easier, which is one of the disastrous decisions taken by Eon Musk.

Changing the platform to X is a direction for Twitter to be bigger than a platform for personal blogs, but I wish I had launched the X service and integrated Twitter with it instead of changing the name of the service just as Facebook did with Instagram and threads.
