Before I knew about Bitcointalk.org, I already knew cryptocurrency and started making some investments. Suddenly, I started seeing Elon Musk tweets promoting cryptocurrencies like Dodge and BTC. I was amazed to the extent I started reasoning that Elon Musk could be Satoshi. Especially when he accepted BTC for Tesla products.
Not quite long his counter tweets and reversal of the BTC payment method came.
It was at this stage that I joined this forum. I was actually looking for a topic I can discuss under. I was seeing Elon Musk everywhere which almost validated my thought of Elon to-be Satoshi. When I wasn't seeing the posts and started reading comment I began to understand that Elon is not our very good friend.
It therefore means discussing him here regularly will give him an undeserved accolade for the fortune or misfortune of BTC.

I did not say people don't discuss about Elon in Wall Observer topic. I used nearly can not find.

I've shown you in obvious examples that this is not the case, EM is a very common topic in WO - but you can't compare a Bitcoin Discussion board to a single thread. If you open a BD board you will almost certainly see the name EM in one of the titles, but if you take an average of 10-15 pages in WO per day, at least a third will contain something related to EM/Tesla. I would therefore say that "nearly can not find" depends on who is looking and in what way.

People talk about Elon in Bitcoin discussion or altcoin discussion boards but you nearly can not find Elon in Wall Observer. It you want to discuss about Bitcoin, join that topic and skip your mind free from Elon.

I don't know why you claim that WO is free from EM - because if you use that thread search you can find posts that mention it even in 2013. If you don’t believe it, here are a few examples that prove that it has spread like a virus on the forum.

In fact, it is rare that a page can be found that does not have at least one post about EM or Tesla.

What I wanted to point out is posters in Wall Observer topic are more knowledgeable and are not obsessed with Elon's tweets. They can feel interesting or uncertain or even fear or panic. But the severity of non sense discussions about Elon is much less.

maybe this is a wise move, which was taken by the moderator, as the forum members here said, too many posts about Elon Musk which incidentally are the same so that in the end the post is off topic
I tried to look at some of the links above, and I got some that were intensive, the answer is the same, namely trying to fight and not believe the opinion statements that are trending in social media circles about Elon Musk

Are mods moving all these Elon Musk stuff to off-topic ?
Topics about tweets of Elon Musk are abundant, toxic and trashy. They need to be moved to trash can if not Off topic.

Moderators are not responsible to protect Bitcoin but those topics only result in panic or fomo and with their abundance, they should be trashed.

Perhaps you need to register Elontalk.org or recognise people don't care about random investors (especially when there are a lot of topics on the same or similar things).
I myself don't care one whit about "random investors".  However, it's hard to argue that Elon Musk's comments weren't worth talking about in the context of bitcoin (and dogecoin for that matter).  I agree that there were way too many threads about him, but I don't think they all should have been moved to Off-Topic--the ones I saw here and there were focused on his influence on bitcoin, which is a real thing whether you like it or not.

But hey, let the mods do what they want to do as long as it's not something egregiously unreasonable, which this wasn't.

Is the concern here that posts made in the Off-Topic section don't count toward signature campaign earnings?  OP is in the 777Coin campaign, so I'm assuming that might at least be part of why he's complaining about this.

I thought some of the originals remained? No one mentioned about them being moved during the crash, those were probably still there.

The other issue is where the topic is placed, economics and speculation boards don't seem as busy as bitcoin discussion or b&h. It was more reasonable for topics to be moved if there was 4 topics in a row on it for example. 1 per 10 new topics might still be a bit much for that section.

Perhaps, the mods moving them will reduce the urge for posters to create more topics on Elon this, Elon that.

^^ This!
A moderator probably wouldn't have reacted if there were one or two threads. The issue arose when several new topics appeared after each of Musk's tweets. This caused many members to get annoyed, and many of them started reporting these posts to moderators.

I fully support the decision. What's more, merging all threads into a single megathread is a good idea.

Yeah I think it was the sheer number of newbies making topics on the same thing that roused the mods to try to counteract it.

We might need something more responsive (like a protocol) for handling discussions that rise that people might want to make many posts about (a forum wide idea for how to deal with these in the future - eg producing a megathread after a certain number of posts on a topic).

No wonder EM mania has become very irritating to some, and every thread that comes up with his name is sure to be reported by at least 5-10 different users - which then leaves the moderators too little room except to send a clear message that such topics have a place in off-topic. While some things should not be ignored, people should refrain from duplicating and repeating the same things over and over again.

That rich prick is, after all, just a man who doesn't deserve our attention to the extent he's currently being given - my avatar says it all Wink

Great, for few days I thought this forum is about Elon and in the parallel universe he is the owner of this forum.  Grin
This was good move by mods for sure. Unlike the COVID mega threads which we saw late in 2020, it's no surprise similar stuff started happening with Elon tweets and his threads. So thats good clean up.

Once a man, twice a child!
Who cares about what Elon Musk says?
You are the people who make it look like he's the controlling Bitcoin price movements.
Can we, in all sincerity, say he hasn't been successfully doing that? Come on, even if we hate his guts we should at least admit his influence. At least, this moment he holds that influence on Bitcoin. The influence may fade out with time but he has it ATM.

As for moving Elon Musk's topics to Off topic, I think it's a good call because of the preponderance of such discussions which tend to give more time to the serial investor with penchant for doublespeak. Perhaps, the mods moving them will reduce the urge for posters to create more topics on Elon this, Elon that.

Due to the above part of the thread the OP created, I think it would be most appropriate for the thread to be in economics --> speculation. There are probably a few other Elon Musk threads moved to off topic that probably should be in speculation.

Is it possible that i can move this thread again to economics --> speculation section which seems more appropriate  then the Off-topic section.

Since mods have moved it to off-topic already, moving it again to another section will be a breach of any rule or come in any violations of the forum ?

your Elon Musk Twitter thread isn't the only one that has been moved to the off-topic board, so it is not surprising that Elon Musk threads being moved to the off-topic board.

I think it would be acceptable to have one "Celebrity tweet effect on Bitcoin" megathread in Bitcoin Discussion or Speculation but OTOH...
probably the best way to do it. so there won't be a new thread every time a celebrity or Elon Musk made a comment about BTC or cryptocurrency in general.

Ever since I got registered into this forum, I have read several topics talking about elon musk and this took me me extra time to browse to know more about him. After my research about elon musk I got to know for several topics carrying him is wrong because the forum is design for purpose of bitcoin and other altcoin and not wasting time reading what will not contribute to growth of the  forum and members ideology. I am not surprise to hear the topic is moved out to another platform.

Today i created the thread in bitcoin discussion Elon MusK Bullish again for bitcoin ?
Is is time for bitcoin to cross the ATH again ?
Due to the above part of the thread the OP created, I think it would be most appropriate for the thread to be in economics --> speculation. There are probably a few other Elon Musk threads moved to off topic that probably should be in speculation.

With that being said, a lot of the threads are either low value, or duplicative. IMO, there should be a single megathread, perhaps in speculation to talk about Elon Musk, and bitcoin/bitcoin's price

Why not then close the bitcoin discussion section as everything which is discussed on the bitcoin discussion board can be fitted in the WO thread  Roll Eyes
That's quite a reach to try and prove your point. A quick glance through the first page of the Bitcoin discussion boards is not wild speculations, so majority of the threads actually belong there. Elon musk's tweet discussions are usually about how he effects the price of cryptocurrencies, so they would fit in the WO thread, off topic is also a good destination or speculation board.

Maybe a “Tweet Observer” thread should be created in Speculation.
Bitcoin Twitter on bitcointalk? That would be a fun party, but with very little actual useful content. Investors should stop paying attention to influencers, but rather to their investments.

Very sad to hear your post got disposed.  Undecided
It's not right to dispose discussions of Elon Musk to off-topic because off-topic should be really stay a shithole for all non-crypto stuff like:
Not every topic that mentions Bitcoin in it should be entertained in Bitcoin discussion area. Otherwise, we will end up seeing topics like "Bitcoin price spikes after Elon Musk tweets himself jerking off"

How does such nonsense affect the development of the Bitcoin ecosystem?

One of the stickies is even quite clear about this;

Low value topics that do not encourage  Any threads that are deemed largely unimportant or unsubstantial in nature by Staff will either moved to Off Topic or trashed. Please report any threads you believe to be unsubstantial or don't meet the above criteria. Thanks.

Incessant discussions about Elon musk and whatever his tweets say is as well "non-crypto stuff" if you ask me, and the thing is even if it is related to crypto in one way or another, when too many threads on the same issue keep appearing, then it's more than needed and thus can be moved to the off-topic board.

I'm pretty sure the mods didn't move every single topic about Elon, including the ones made early enough when his tweet was still fresh to the off-topic board, but rather it's the new threads on the subject that are being moved, what that basically means is that if anyone still wants to talk about Elon and his tweets, there are more than enough topics to do so and thus no need to create more of them.
