rest in peace, cryptopia
hello assetylene

Be careful. Perhaps it will be a new cryptocurrency exchange from the scammer co-founder of Cryptopia Adam Clark. It is the easiest road to wealth.

As much as majority of us all here don't like centralized exchanges ,it seems like these centralized exchanges are more safe than the ones that are decentralized. Okay why I said this is because I've never seen any of these centralized big exchanges get hacked, just like Coinbase, they have never had such a problem, unless I've not heard of it (Coinbase is the only centralized exchange I know) and I based on article I read on Cointelegrah about exchanges ,the decentralized ones are not much. Well, we all like the decentralized exchanges and they trying their best. Users have to be careful and stop keeping to much funds in the control of exchanges ,except fund they are trading and funds they can afford to risk.

Yes, I saw this news and I am disappointed that such a large stock exchange that previously was in the top went bankrupt, but unfortunately no one is immune from this and this often happens with exchanges, but in such cases usually the stock exchanges have reserve funds and we will watch the situation to hope for the best.
This kind of event often occurs that exchanges are the target of hackers. Cryptopia was one of the big exchanges we've known for a couple years, but it is unfortunately if the exchange didn't reserve funds for this incident or it couldn't bear the losses anymore. I left some funds in there, not much but could not help recovering it.
The latest news about cryptopia which I think there is a hope for cryptopia account holders is from Grant Thornton. It is one of the world's leading organisations of independent assurance, tax and advisory firms. More details can be found here : https://twitter.com/GrantThorntonNZ/status/1132815729529479168

Obviously, the hack took a toll on this exchange that's why Cryptopia really had to shutdown it's operation. I guess it's the nature of this business, if you don't have funds to cover the losses, then liquidations will be the next thing to do.

Many people still trade in Cryptopia exchange though the hack and the way they handle issues then makes many investors and traders to loss trust in them as they feel their funds are not secure anymore they may end up losing all. I will say their technical team act unprofessional but we all know its not an easy task managing a big exchange like Cryptopia I just hope it comes back to standard again.

I had move out my bitcoin before the hack, leaving behind my dump altcoin, it was a dump altcoin I loss in the exchange, no pain because it was not worth much, but I should have withdrawn to my private wallet. Why can't these exchanges be insured? or it's not possible to insure against hackers?

Lucky for you, a lot people still have a lot coin and token in cryptopia wallet. I think cryptopia members only waiting liquidation process and it takes months. Hopely they do that with transparancy because a lot member must be suffering a lot losses

Cryptopia Exchange has Gone Into Liquidation After Hackers took away what was reported to worth about $16M in January this year. The New Zealand exchange going down!
In this news; https://www.cryptoinformers.info/news/137-cryptopia-exchange-goes-into-liquidation-after-hack the story of the hack was told.

It's obvious that cryptopia is going dead since the attack. At the very least, I'm still lucky I don't have much tokens stocked in that exchange.
as little exchanges , cryptopia has no power to recover their loss after hacking accident.and much traders loss their balance in this exchanges, maybe they will get refund after many years.

I pretty much like using Cryptopia. It wasn't the best of all but did provide some good coins which weren't listed on other exchanges or we can say it was among the few who listed it.
Thankfully, I didn't loose any money in the Cryptopia hack since I don't keep much money on any exchanges.
They are not best but they still tried in their own little way, and I am so sure that they will rebound back after learning more on how handle the exchange better. This is why I don’t support more exchanges opening now because the competition for exchanges is too much that it makes the volume some good exchange deserves to be limited.

If they had very good volume like binance and they are really making cool profit, they would have been able to curtail the situation without having to liquidate, but I guess the volume was too low for them to get money to handle the lost fund.

It’s a pity for people that has funds with them and could not get the funds out, next time, they just have to learn on sticking with exchanges with great volume.

We can't really trust any exchange. Even with good platforms or with the longer stayed in crypto industry and with good feedbacks, we can't do anyrjir when the hacking issues will happen. And I do also think that it is just an exit scam where traders can't get back their hacked btcs. As far as I know, Cryptopia's reputation was already ruined and it is hard to get back the trust of traders and investors.
After this incident, it will be very difficult for them to rebuild their reputations, the very reason that they've not doing any actions or anything to rebuild as they knew that there's nothing for them to catch up, investors and traders trust already out, nothing left for them.

The hacked is everywhere inside this sphere, when you caught unguarded you will surely lose your business.

RIP Cryptopia. Home of coins / tokens that are not tradeable in most exchanges...
Was one of the first exchanges that I used when I joined crypto.
RIP!

that is the end of that exchange. Electronic money will never end. The market has rebounded. Many great exchanges have very good security.

I still don't believe that the cryptopia hack was an outside job. I think that the cryptopia exchange owners have in hand in this and they stole from users, called it hack and went for liquidation. Just as we saw at quadrigax this other exchanges are mimicking this

It is possible, but we cannot know if your hypothesis is true or not. I only care that cryptopia administrators are not responsible for criminal matters when that happens

Like I've already said.

Like many have pointed out here.. i have my doubts on cryptopia's intentions. I think, they themselves swindled the money and now are playing the age-old got hacked trumpet.

Also note that the founder is already gearing to set up a new exchange. I guess he was not done looting money and wants more.

Good that this exchange already been shut down. Hopefully its for good. I loss a lot of tokens there and dont even like the support. Actually im thinking that they just using this scheme of hack but the truth is they will exit and used all the funds for their own sake. Only my opinion but this is a nice strategy to avoid suspicion.

Cryptopia should open withdrawal for unaffected account. I think cryptopia should do it because many members should waiting for months waiting liquidation process and i think its not fair. Cryptopia should transparant about his process to maintain trust from their customer

They quit their jobs about a year ago and put all their savings into Cryptopia as a full time enterprise, although they were unsure at the time how much future it had.

they quit their jobs because they will retire with your money..and they are very sure about cryptopia's future--> CRYtopia for everyone  Grin

conspiracy theory confirmed LOL...happy retirement guys!

watch how this liquidation pays pennies on a dollar(bear market bottom fiat value plus expenses covered by your money)..or none at all hehe
