I remember people were going nuts about enigma during the height of the crypto boom.
Privacy coins were all the rage then so a privacy coin that also can execute smart contracts secretly seemed great.
Now the hype is gone, you have to ask, "Is that level of privacy even needed?"
The thing is, just plain old bitcoin is private enough.
But if you want to go hardcore, it is clear that monero is the most favored coin.
And for off chain "secret contracts", I would worry on how governments would eventually regulate that (or try to).
Because of all of these, I would say that ENG is not a sure fire investment anymore, but very risky.
Of course, if you are willing to deal with the risk and believe in it, then yes, now is a great time to invest.

From what I read it was launched 1.5 years ago. Quite a lot of time "under the radar"; people still don't know this coin. So it has a big chance to stay under the radar forever...

Right now Bitcoin is on the rise. In the times the Bitcoin market has big fluctuations, usually the altcoins don't do too well. If you have the patience some altcoins may worth buying while they're low, but I can't tell which. ENG doesn't look like one of them.

I have never heard of the ENG project, if I may know what concept they are making and what field are they engaged in? Then why do you compare it with ETH? while ETH is a coin that has been very strong and very successful.

Lol, why do y'all rant about many coins like that. Everyday we hear "some coin" is better than the other and so on and so forth. Personally, what i believe is that to be the best in crypto, do your very best thing in your own way. Trying to compare yourself with an established coin will leave you rekt. Bitcoin is unique in its own way, ETH is unique in its own way and so ENG should also be unique in its own way.
Yes, I also realized that this is probably Enigma (ENG) . Of course the project has potontsial. But look at the market. Today it is better to choose ETH. The fact is that this is a short-term investment. ETH now goes in the wake of Bitcoin. But the ENG project is not known whether it will grow.The easiest option is to buy ETH now. After rapid growth, you can sell and buy it ENG even more.
if i look from it chart from feb untill now the price of ENG just is decrease, and now is lowest, if you want to invest now maybe i think is right, it will increase but not much, the price now is stable in 0.3..$-0.4...$, maybe just growth slowly. but i prefer with eth will giving you more

Contrary to what most people have said regarding ENG on this thread, I think your assumption might be right.. Although I think the usecase of the ENG is different from ethereum.. I most confess the project has done well even through out the bear season.. I hard a choice to make between drgn, eng and pivx a year ago and I unfortunately chose drgn.. Well the market valuation of all three shows eng would have been the best choice.. ENG is one of those tokens, and I want to get your thoughts on this project. Is now the right time to invest? Yes, I should have clarified that I meant "next ETH" in terms of the characteristics of the price movements, and how it's under the radar (compared to ETH pre 2016 with strong following, strong team but not much media attention). Not comparing it to ETH as a token and functionality, and more so on price and value.
I also invested a small amount DRGN during their ICO and also invested in some of DRGN's own token offerings that have all turned out not as well (eg. Look Lateral).
It was more so to get opinions of the board.
A large number of subscribers can be easily collected from airdrop and it can also be just bots, so this factor is very small when choosing a coin.

Enigma and Ethereum is completely different, enigma aims for a decentralized web and ethereum has smart contracts where you can create your own coin, there's no way enigma can be the next ethereum but in marketcap sure it can possibly.

You have to see and analyze ENG tokens, is it true that the token will be one of the good tokens for investment. but when compared to ETH I suggest investing in ETH but it all goes back to you ENG is one of those tokens, and I want to get your thoughts on this project. ENG is no way close to ETH, it's a hyperbolic comparison. Well, I'm not a holder of ENG and I'm not saying it's not a good coin per say, but definitely not a math for ETH. Also I will advise you not to convert all your holdings to a particular coin or token, it's risky. Do more research on the project, low price doesn't mean it's a good time to go all in.

I think this coin is 'Enigma'. I don't think that there will be the 'the next eth' since altcoins has their very own unique platforms. Ethereum will always be ethereum no matter how it's popular to the people. Wait until the change in PoS has been made by the developers, this is what the people awaits these days.
