Not really. Japanese and even Chinese do not know how to speak english fluently or not at all but they are rich and successful. It is a language that we need to understand people from the other country. It is our international language. If your job involves on meeting client around the world, then better to study English.

Good point there. I personally applied this approach too. Reading a lot of English texts to have a big grasp on the English vocabularies and sentence construction; however, just as it would be expected of any rich language, I would say it almost takes a lifetime to master English. You keep learning it, because news words are even being coined year in year out. It never stops growing.

Language barrier is not that great in Japan. Some of my friends are studying there, and they have told me that most of the people know English. Yes of course , but it's not definition of success , success measure by , how you understand and what you learn. Learning english is one of the common language that we used. And yes of course we need it to communicate to everyone. Maybe in some point. But i dont think speaking english will make is successful in life. There are successful countries in this world that don even speak english. The decision to learn this things is just for personal enrichment of your knowledge but speaking multiple languages is an advantage that can open opportunities for you.

English language is the most common language used. not primarily in other countries but I think its one of the most studied language that connects many people all over the world. I think mandarin is another language widely used.

Back to the topic, yes it is important. Like what I have said it connects people. Proper use of language, more chances of understanding others. Good communication makes good production and performances.
