I'm fairly certain 90% of people who have publicly ID'd themselves in this space have lived to regret it.

Buying a coin solely on the basis of it having an ID'd developer is just as foolish as buying a coin because it has a pretty logo. A developer who refuses to identify himself, however, is a red flag. If a coin accumulates enough red flags it's best to avoid investing in it. Crypto is like poker. The key to winning isn't usually winning more. The key to winning is to contain your losses.

I don't think it's a red flag at all. Most people in the crypto community wish to remain anon and if I was a dev I would definitly want to remain so. Those guys get a lot of heat and let's not forget the guy that started all this is still anonymous and nobody has any idea who he is and I'm glad it's that way.

Maybe I should have said that it's something to take note of.

You are right though. Many devs want to remain anonymous just like many of us do. It's ironic that many of us have come to expect the developers to reveal themselves while most of us wish to remain anonymous.

Juicin' crypto
Bitswift setup their 1-844 toll free number, badass!  Cheesy

Most legit dev I've dealt with in over a year of playing with so many coins.  Save for a very few other dev's.

You can't just invest in a coin because the devs are known. Besides, people will just start faking IDs or their identities to gain trust then scam at a later date so being known really isn't going to stop scams. Personally I'd avoid all coins unless you actually believe in them for whatever reason.

Most every NEW coin that is announced will be from a scam team so don't give them your money.

Non Scam coins with ID'd DEVs:
Darkcoin
Vericoin is reversing higher with some game changing POS developments in the pipeline.
Archcoin
Dogecoin
SuperNET

Invest accordingly

Hardforks tend to be part of the process so a change in rewards is not necessarily a bad thing.

With 2 millions of coins mined in 2 days this is really bad.

One of the reason why people respect Bitcoin is because they don't change the mining rewards. Also, a lot of hard forks is really bad. Hard fork should be an exception, not the rule.

In the case of Vericoin, I'm pretty sure they got fucked by Mintpal although that is debatable. I read somewhere the VeriCoin devs had huge regrets afterwards because it divided the Community and ultimately did a lot of damage but they were in a bind and had to do something otherwise there may have been 30% of the Coins floating around of other peoples Coins which they would lose and would crash the price for everyone else.

And Vericoin price falled around 90% since then.

Dakcoin: a coin which loves to change the rules. Changes the rewards for mining, changes the number of total to be issued...
Vericoin: developers did a hard fork in order to roll back the chain to revert a supposed theft on MintPal.

None of these could be called scams, but they are really bad coins.

vericoin was controlled from the start, the group behind that coin (or who worked with/for then against the dev) made out like bandits.  call them what you will verihandgroup, blackhandgroup, etc. - there was more than one i know.  some of them (or ex members) are probably reading this post right now.  i hope you monkeys are enjoying your manipulated funds from all us sheep, fukn A-holes.  dev sold out to them.

I was there from the beginning and you have no idea what you are talking about. Sure, the Blackhand group was there. There is no way anybody can control who buys a coin, and even if there were a way, it would be dumb to try. Nobody sold out though. The Blackhand was there and they made money like a lot of people.

Sorry that you bought high and was left holding the bag. That's why so many of us tried to tried to discourage any pumping of VeriCoin, but in the end, there was nothing that could be done. The devs saw their bag grow and then collapse like so many early VRC holders did. They never sold out though. They made mistakes. We all do, but they have always been straight-up and honest.

darkcoin i like from the start, hopefully it still goes up in future and has some sort of mass adoption better than it has had thus far.

archcoin, eih....good plans, but all talk.  need to see results.  ICO was overpriced.

dogecoin, fun at the beginning but worthless/uselesss unless you can swing trade (IMO)....otherwise, waste of time, dont even bother.

superNET, lol i dont plan on waiting til 2020...again all talk.  (blocknet, maybe potential there still, but they need a bit more time, still young).

as usual i'll bring up bitswift here, dev released his public info....WHAT other dev's have even done that?!?!  dude's working on the coin outside of the crypto sphere like a madman it seems...i think we'll see huge things from it this year, when support shows up.

librex seems to always be a sure bet too.

You should make a list of ALL id'd devs, probably a bit of favouritism in your list, start another thread with poll like list of id'd devs, then we can see how many are out there
