shitcoin will never replace bitcoin, simply because the money will move on the next shitcoin, for increasing your bitcoin portfolio

now they are dumping for lisk and they will dump again for something else and so on

Sure, ok. Smiley

I also think same about alt coins, they are there just to make our bitcoins busy. Of course many of that coins people use for different things. There is new coin almost every day and people are just use them to earn more coins. But its not easy, following that coins is a hard work.
Cause of that I trade more on luck and advices from much experienced traders.
I don't think any coin can replace btc, or even come close to btc. Yes there will be good one's but they will need to touch 100 $ to become more serious threat to btc and I don't see that something like that will happen anytime soon.

Well it certainly hasn't hit triple digits yet but it's holding on to 0.02 pretty tenaciously.

I noticed that. It's hard to think long-term 'round here, but from a long-term perspective ETH has done pretty durn well.

ETH's more-or-less year-to-date chart:

It's a darn good one. Hard to believe, but you could have snapped up ETH at about an eighth of its current price only five months ago. I may inhabit a different universe than some of the folks around here, but that chart looks an awful lot like an uptrend.

To me it looks like an uptrend followed by a downtrend (doesn't mean that there can't be an uptrend anymore but I am only pointing out your mistake)

Yeeaah, but all of that is effectively sunk. Ultimately what is of interest is how the price will move going forward, yeah?

The ETH fundamentals don't look too good in that sense.

No i dont think tht gonna happen as ethereum and bitcoin are two different things. Ethereum is platform for dapps where as bitcoin is and will be decenralized payment system.

This ^^

AFAIK, you can use ethereum as a platform and use any other coin on top of that. Being either Ether or Bitcoin.

I think it will be wise to hold both.

But I'm a newbie, what do I know Smiley

Its still a very new currency and has a lot of potential.  Bitcoin has that first in gold standard going for it but it has its flaws.  Ether has fast transactions while with bitcoin you have a long wait for your coins to confirm.  Dapps and such seems like a gimmick to me, I mean who wants to micropay every time you use an app but contracts seem to have a legit use aside from the pyramid schemes.

It will rise overtime, it was just over valued too quickly so we saw the adjustment.

going to tripple digits they said..

I think they may said correct but it does not mean that it will replace bitcoin, bitcoin has its own unique place the world of crypto-currencies and will always stay as No.1, and still we wish that like bitcoin ETH also reach to triple digits.

I guess that will not happen, I think ETH is only a coin that are popular today, a time when its popularity will be lost, in contrast to bitcoin is always used even when the price is going down

As said these were the coins which gets popularity for some time and moves off. I have seen users using these opportunities effectively. They used to trade with those coins and invest the profit in bitcoin.
yes indeed many traders just buying eth for benefits unlike bitcoin that we use for everyday needs many people now a  days use bitcoin for shopping and most of it use for online payments and gambling, so if eth do wanted to be like that many things are needed to replace bitcoin, after all eth only relies its price from the whale who dives so deep and pump to rise up.

the more they spammed and spread their FUD about bitcoin, and with every single one of those bots that are spamming here in speculation board about bitcoin being dead and replaced with eth, i became more sure that ETH is nearing the end.

it might not be its complete end but it is heading towards it.

I think by far the most interesting aspect of this all is that there's just been a ginormous bubble where millions could've made in weeks yet Bitcoin itself did essentially fuck all. Same goes for LTC. That's pretty much unprecedented.

If this is the wave of the future then that's a bit depressing for those who are somewhat dim/risk averse/sensible such as my fine self.

Speculations as always. In an altcoin, just because the coin boosted from let' say 100% - 200% increase, it doesn't mean we have to considered it as a valid and strong basis to replace bitcoin.

And with such increasing numbers of altcoins, which some of them also experience some price growth, the market will just have a rotational price. Meaning traders has lots of options to invest and trade with.

And pointing to ETH, it's clearly a whales movement unlike in BTC that can keep up now even with the small efforts of the whales.

ETH might replace bitcoin when it has a real user base and a range of clients i.e. not now, and not soon.

Yes with that it can compete with bitcoin but for now there are lots of people who are still believing in bitcoin and with eth fail to get some sponsor they need more innovation to get more clients.

What if someone makes a decentralized ETH coin?
