Current ETH transactions costs and time are really annoying.
This is because of that Crypto Kitten hype. ETH dev Vitalik Buterin said that stuff like this a reflection of the world we are living in and that ETH was not invented for gadget games like this: https://twitter.com/vitalikbuterin/status/939285774498803712

Seriously you were complaining for a fee of one dollar?

ETH is finished, etherdelta need set gas price to 60 because of that stupid cat app, $1+ for one transaction

Etherdelta is working fine for me, only that it is bugged as hell, i can not even buy a single coin because they are giving me a lot of errors at the same time.

CryptoKitties are killing the ethereum network. I was on etherdelta for over 8 hours today trying to make some simple transaction but it is not working at all.

Everything is fixed now, a few hours ago i received 0.15 ethereums to my wallet and the guy only paid $0,45 of fees only for that transaction.

Good news, then I`ll try to trade there again. I hope that the problems of ETH blockchain will be fixed when they will switch to the POS algorythm

I had already realized those huge fees for which I have practically stopped using etherdelta, unless I receive a token that generates at least enough profits to make it worthwhile to spend my ethers paying those high fees.

Eth is not finished. One dollar is not big thing if can earn at least $20 or 50 in each transaction.
Now we have to care about another cat application that may made from eth again to prevent such this thing happen.
Looks the network back again. The congestion alreayd ended and those etherdelta users can decrease their gwei again and then try to use etherdelta with cheap fees. People are moving towards another trend soon. Looks there are so many transaction in etherdelta by use 4 gwei as the fees.

ETH is finished, etherdelta need set gas price to 60 because of that stupid cat app, $1+ for one transaction

That's so expensive for me, I only set my gas to 8 or 11, it has delays but not to long. I regret, I spent 35 gwei on my transactions last week, I didn't know everything about gas, because its my first time trading in etherdelta, I did'nt know that setting it to only 8 is enough.

I think you should try again.
Etherdelta is back to semi-normal. Today my transactions was filled in matter of minutes with 11-15 gas. It's still expensive but at least is 5 times lower than 60.

Sometimes I see etherdelta charges fee about $1 with 10-15 gwei. How is that possible? 10-15 gwei shouldn't make that much fee as far as I know from my previous experience. I can't understand this.

This was a one off thing and still $1 transactions with ETH is far superior to many other coins, bitcoin transactions are far more expensive than those of ethereum and no one is saying that it is finished. Not to mention that when the improvements come to ETH within the next year or so then it should be almost infinitely scalible and have very low fees.

I think WAVES is doing DEX very well when it comes to fees
You cannot start comparing yet as you cannot compare the level of usage and transactions going on within the two projects. Waves seems promising but only time will tell if there could still be some issues that would need to be fixed once they start receiving huge recognition the way Ethereum is.

People said a lot of negative things and compared Ethereum with bitcoin in the past and how Ethereum can never get congested or have a huge transaction fee, but hey! It has just happened.

I think your point is well delivered. If there is a pattern as mentioned in the scenario above, it would safe to say that our investments in new platform projects had just received a new sparkle of life.
With Bitcoin is now somewhere near Mars, Ethereum is reaching for the moon, Waves could be the next major player in town. And when Waves skyrockets as well, we might be discussing about another affordable and more effective platform.
Cheesy Cheesy Time to launch new project is now!!

Do you see the balance of the etherium and tokens in etherdelta? I have only Huh signs. This is normal?

Agreed, I dont use at the moment, but I also chatted with some guys on TG that told me that everything is working fine again. A bit slower than normal (which could be considered very slow, because ED is slow anyways) but its working at least with okayish transaction prices.

Is the reason for limited block size to do with miners or the developers?

From my knowledge of the blockchain it is miners who want block size to remain small as it creates competition for block space and as a result they are offered more on average per transaction.

Miners or the developers on behalf of miners need to make a consensus that allowing larger or unlimited block size with small transaction fees would allow usage to scale and ensure longevity in the market.

This is a problem so many blockchain coins have, and there is no clear solution for it yet.
I think the whole idea of limited blocksize is so foolish, especially for a platform like ethereum which has so many Dapps transacting on it.
The block size needs to be unlimited or increase in size over time to allow for the growing market.

I dont use anymore EtherDelta at the moment. I neighter want to pay much for the transaction, that still are frequent when I trade on EtherDelta, nor do I have the time to wait for several hours to make my trades. But I think this will settle again soon and Ethereum will get back to normal mode, with modest transaction fees and fast processing.

I dont think that this is the end of Ethereum, not in the slightest. It just shows us where the network has to work on!

Transactions in etherdelta are now too expensive, and every movement we make in ED  they charge. So maybe it's time to say good bay with etherdelta , and move to another exchange.
You cannot blame EtherDelta for the Ethereum network that is congested. Etherdelta is just a decentralized exchange and without doing that, transactions will get stucked. It is just better to move to a centralized exchange for now, as that is the only way you can at least get to do your trading, without network charges and just the platform trading commissions.

But I just wonder why OP is not considering bitcoin's tx fees as optimal BTC tx fees are around $35 compared to mentioned $1 of gas for eth transactions.

So what's the correct gasprice to set in order to operate normally in Etherdelta? 15 or more? Or is it better to wait and not operate?
