There is no coin yet that can attract even 20% of the Ethereum hashrate.
The arrival of such a hash rate on RVN or Ethereum classic will reduce the profit to the revenues of 2019, when there were 10 cents of profit from 1 video card per day.
The price of these coins will not rise without the positive dynamics of the cryptocurrency market.

Surely. Such mining power will destroy any coin. The own chance - if the price of ETC will grew up in 10 times or higher, but i don`t see any chance for this.
It will not destroy it will like btc unprofitable to mine with gpus. You all know that it will take time to balance between miners. No profit miner stops mining. Im sure china asic miners also will stop as soon as 2.8Ghs=5$ until gets it balance between miners. We all seen in bearmarket asics were doing 1-5$ day and hashrate was low because few people mined and still there was coins making ok. lets see what happen end of this year.
Yes, miners will change coins to maximize profit. For GPU miners this is rather easy but ASIC miners cannot change algo. And there are not so much coins with ETHASH or ETCHASH algos. Of course, miners will stop mining if it will be unprofitable.

6 cents an mh

so 3000 mh is 180 a day.

for 6-9 months

that would be 32000 to 48000

power,cost,would,be under 10k at 5 cent power.

net 22k to 38k

if you have  paid off gpus.

one asic will earn 30k to 45k and burns only 2k

so nets 28 to 43k

I think that there are no coins for mining for ASICs on the ETHASH algorithm. Ethereum classic will not withstand the addition of new ASICs and the profit will be minimal, and the owners of video cards will need to look for other coins for mining.
But these ASICs continue to be successfully sold, which means that buyers have other information.
ETCHASH seems be not seriously changed ETHASH. I think it will be possible to reconfigure ASICs from ETHASH to ETCHASH.
And lots of ASICs were pre-paid. May be buyers want to return their money back but will get ASICs.

Ethereum(ETH) hashrate 600Tx
Ethereum Classic(ETC) hashrate 28Tx
ASICs will have no choice for mining after changing Ethereum to the POS algorithm.
They definitely won't go mining dubai coin Grin
100 terahesh will come to Ethereum classic and make the life of GPU miners horrible Cry

Didn't ETC change their algo slightly to prevent ASICs. I remember the E3 didn't work, then they released some firmware and it worked again. So maybe the E3 might work but the newer asics probably will run into the same issue. So the ASICs might not be able to switch, only the GPU miners.

However like you said. There won't be enough miner supply to keep everybody happy. The value of ETC is very low compared to ETH and it just can't remain profitable for long.

I remember when ETC switched algos and I tried mining with my old 3GB GPU, it was barely profitable. Then price increased and it became profitable however this is most likely only temporarily.

I think raven coin can be mined only with GPU, so most of them might switch to that and other ASICs resistance coins.

Good thing diff is not growing anymore im following etherscan it highest hashrate was recorded at 650TH now it is slowly going down today 600TH.So far we know eth dev team will do nothing about asics so we all need prepaired for low profit. The latest asics will make profit way too low this time i think. Last bearmarket there wasnt so powerfull asics but now they are serious. When 160Mhs asic deployed it was low but now people talking about asics at 2-2.8Ghs it 20x more powerfull than it used to be.

I think the reason for the drop is due to China banning mining isn't it? Or was that already reversed?

Bitcoins hashrate also went down and I am pretty sure a large portion of ETH hashrate is also in China. If the mining is banned there due to climate reasons then most likely the equipment will be shipped elsewhere and the hashrate will return in a month or so.

So its too early to tell but I don't think the drop is due to the price going down. Because even with expensive power there are still profits to be made mining ETH. Miners aren't shutting down yet.

Well ETH was actually suppose to go POS back in Summer of 2016. Now 5 years later and still no POS. One thing that ETH dev team is great at is missing deadlines. So there is no concrete answer when it will go POS.

You bigger issue is that ETH sustains its >$2500 price and that the difficult stops growing. Apparently there are many high tech ETH ASICs out there and it will keep increasing the hashrate for the near future, not good for GPU miners.

POS is your last worry right now.

I would bet the new ETH ASIC's are already being used to mine by the manufacturer's, which is why you don't see the diff going up. They only release them when the easy money is gone. I think the question is how many miners are willing to drop $30K for an ASIC that makes $60K a year at current ETH price and difficulty with only 6-9 months of ETH PoW if all goes as scheduled. Once the merge happens, all those ASIC's switching to other ETHASH coins looking to recover their investment is going to make it difficult for GPU's to stay profitable.

We are waiting for a PoS till 2016 and still mine. Last i heard that the PoS will be 2022 at least. Just continue to mine. EIP-1559 does not scare me, miner comissions now are about zero.

I think that with this drop in the value of ETH and BTC, they will take a little longer to make the changes.

Regarding the ASIC ETH they are appearing, in an attempt to earn a little more, in this final stretch of the PoW. Of course, all those who mine with the GPU are left with less risk, but that's the market.

You are confusing the ETH 2.0 scalability upgrade which includes sharding, with the merge that incorporates the PoW chain in to the PoS Beacon chain. As decribed by VB in the interview link I posted, the merge is when PoW will end and that is scheduled to happen by early 2022. The ETH 2.0 upgrade comes after the merge.
