It will be really difficult to kill ethereum. It is a big infrastructure and you should make something different and more powerful. Like a new ecosystem maybe. Not in the nearest future

Which coin, if any do you think has the power to over take Ethereum and why?
I think most probably none of the above would take over ethereum as it was used by most ICO's now. Even if that is the case, I wont set aside the possibility of ethereum being taken over by some other altcoin that also offers token creation on their platform and the one that might possibly do it is waves. Although it has a chance, any other altcoin including waves taking over eth for now is low.

How / why did EOS get compared to being an 'ethereum killer' ? I understand the creator of Bitshares and Steemit is now creating EOS, but just because one person (hint: prolific Steemit poster) says EOS is an Ethereum killer, does not make it so?

it seems to me that Ethereum is too far away from their competitors so they could kill him. Main competition is bitcoin but I do not believe that ever any altcoins can compete with him. The Ethereum can only be killed by users and irresponsibility of the developers.

I voted for 'none of the above' just like most of people did. The only coin close to be ethereum's competitor is indeed NEO. Yet I disagree it can kill eth. NEO is supposed to be growing because of Chinese but, as they are not really into ICOs anymore, I believe neo will not become great. I am aware of its advantages over eth like programming languages and coin's creator potential, but that's not enough for a giant to be beaten IMO.

With the kind of funding and VC backing that are behind Tezos, I am very bullish on this one. Of course, they would be huge dumps when it is launched at exchanges and we may see price dip over the ICO price because there are many people whose money is stuck into it and they have been waiting for long to make multiple x's, and if that does not happen, they will dump tezos and move on to the next ICO

I think ETH will adapt and at worst it will remain a viable alternative. Most likely, "Ethereum killer" will be a popular title for quite some time, meaning that ETH will remain a leader.

In my point of view I would say NEO have good ability to kill Ethereum.Because as NEO continues to catch the attention of crypto traders and investors across the world, the future looks very bright and can over come in competetion with Ethereum. NEO is China’s first original public chain. and NEO has an independent intelligent contract system "NeoContract".Since NEO originated in China and already abides by the proposed rules, NEO would be associated with quality and functionality. NEO the-China’s first public Blockchain could become China’s premier digital platform in near future. NEO could possibly benefit over the long term with Chinese regulatory rules on Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs).

Yeah I think NEO and QTUM will be the one if they sustained the market like this forever. However, ethereum will also evolve a lot in the long run due to all the ICO hype going around. Investments into ether might just increase by many folds but who knows the reality about it. This is going to be lion to lion fight and race in the long run. I'm considering NEO as potential because it has shown good project developments in short period of time and it is in the news as well. Hopefully people will start investing into as potential coin and if it starts hiking then more investors might jump in. Thinking of ethereum it is very stable at 300 USD since long time and not making any moves which makes more easy for it to loose.

Which coin, if any do you think has the power to over take Ethereum and why?
which has a feature like ethereum is waves so I can say that waves will defeat ethereum later if the developers work very hard.

Well, lets put aside the word killer and replace it with competitor. What do you guys think can somehow be side by side next to Ethereum?

so much anticipation, the Ethereum replacement/killer coin
debate keeps rumbling along.

any coin has the potential to take over Ethereum's space
and even take over Bitcoin, but it really depends on adoption,
without the support of the users like ourselves a coin will
always fall short. There are a nice selection of coins in that
list all with their own fan base but too much of a spread to
trouble the #2 spot IMO.

I see NEO on the top of the list and has 5 votes I would imagine
if all the supporters from the rest of the list jumped ship into NEO
there might be more of a chance but the market is too diluted.

I didn't vote, I don't think any of them. But it feels weird to say that Bancor or Aragon might be an Ethereum killer, as these are both Ethereum-based tokens.

This title made me laugh, like ethereum killer? seriously?

I have heard ethereum to be the bitcoin killer before it had the ethereum ICO. It definitely nothing like that and it is different from bitcoin. People dont understand that a new technology is based on some idea and that idea if new makes an own domain for itself and ethereum is like that new idea.

All the coins stated above and based on new technologies and ideas and they all have potential to become big and have a big price later on but the idea that one coin is going to totally kill another coin is absurd.

Buy whichever coin you want and which you deem fit for investing. (I know that is actually what the OP wants to hear)

Wow, how many killers have Ethereum. So far, none of the killers have failed in their task, and many died themselves. Something tells me that they will not work in the future.

There is no killer at all. Maybe there is powerfull competitors but thats not a bad thing. Market cap of crypto currencies growing day by day and its normal to see new competitors born.
It not a bad thing its really good to have alternatives and competitors in all business models.
