I think that in 2018 the etherium will still reach the mark of a thousand dollars. Although, as now, this will depend on bitcoin, albeit to a lesser extent than now. Efirium is a good altcoyin and I think that he will surprise us all.
Ether dropped its valuie against bitcoins and thats the real point. If ether wants to become really the second in the list then it should gain its value against bitcoins and its US$ value will automatically increased to something like 700 - 800$ or so on.

Ethereum is actually a good coin to invest but it is having a hard time reaching a new all time high or even reaching $500 as of this moment. But I do believe in time it will reach a new high price and eventually surpasses the $500 mark but until then since bitcoin is still on the rise, slowly it will reach that amount and skyrockets too.

Ethereum is really doing great and can be trusted as a potentially profitable investment just like bitcoin. But in terms of growth rate compared to bitcoin is really far from each other. Reaching for $1k by 2018 is impossible due to the continuing surge of bitcoin price in the market that really affect the ethereum price.
If we look at the previous ETH rate dynamics, it is obvious that it's in the very beginning. And you can compare it with BTC price growth. But also don't forget that ETH is way way useful than BTC, so we will see nice price changes in 2018 by all means

I think the whole issue is based on this article opinion and I am fully in support of it. There is a general battle of survival for all the major cryptocurrency. It's only the fittest that will survive. If Ethereum refused to do something about their Blockchain it will fail.
