using eth platform i guess is better than having thier own because after all eth is almoat like programmable just like wavesplatform. the features are already and all the dev team has to do is just to learn how to configure eth.

makes things easier than having their own blockchain and go through all the troubles of launching mainnet.

Perhaps because when these projects messed up they can just fork it just like before. Now, I might be wrong. Probably they got hooked by the buzzword smart contracts though. Smart contracts is just a well elaborated automation, probably they haven't learned to do it via other blockchain projects with rich APIs which is entirely possible.

Why so many altcoins use the Ethereum Technology?

Because I think ethereum has good data security and transfer speed, so there are so many platforms that use ethereum technology.

Why so many altcoins use the Ethereum Technology?
The reason because the ethereum was having the friendly blockchain. Why those developers are not interested for using another chain? it caused by a lof ot people think the ethereum is the best place to run the project.

I think the Ethereum is more versatile than many other similar technologies.

Why so many altcoins use the Ethereum Technology?

let me put it this way:
it is used by so many altcoins because it is supposed to be used by so many altcoins. it is designed to do exactly that and nothing else.

in other words your question is like asking why so many people use Firefox to browse internet instead of doing somethign else with it.
Over the last 2 months I've heard so many people talk badly of ethereum but the point is that so many altcoins who use the ethereum technology have great success. For this reason I asked the question.
In other words Firefox if it was not good nobody used it...

Why so many altcoins use the Ethereum Technology?

They aren't altcoins. They are called tokens. And they are used by business to raise money essentially for their business/idea/project in the form of Initial Coin Offering, also known as "ICO".

It is the basis of the Ethereum platform... anyone can create a token and sell it to people who are interested.
Depending roadmap of every project development their token, because still have some altcoin use platform Ethereum as Musicoin can't say token.
This is altcoin mining but use platform smart contract of Ethereum.

A lot of people are using the ethereum technology because of its stability.  It is by far the most stable or the only well
Established platform there is. Its technology provides a hassle free and fast transaction which makes it convenient for both parties and on top of that, it offers a more secure system and data storage.

Not actually the stability, it's the accessibility, I guess. It's open to any project team and using blockchain technology is not hard for the new teams. The stability represent more intense meaning, we've seen that ethereum has also stability problems. Bad things happened during bancor and status ICO. Remember?
So for example a coin like OmiseGo maybe is not stable? I hope it is because I bet on this coin. Grin

I'm looking into using the network for something else. I'd like to look at coding a service/product/tool that uses the Ethereum tech.
Any guides/ideas on that?

Do you wanna look at coding a service/product/tool for learning purposes? There are hundreds or maybe thousands of products being developed using Ethereum technology.

If you want to learn how to develop a smart contract code using solidity, you can start with the tutorials from the official Ethereum website:

https://ethereum.org/token
https://ethereum.org/dao

If you want to fund a business idea that could use Ethereum, think about anything that currently needs a centralized entity as an intermediary (such as Uber and AirBnb) that could be replaced by smart contracts. Here is a post about smart contract use cases: https://medium.com/auctus/smart-contracts-ideal-uses-cases-930a9ca6a02f

If you want to know more about Ethereum technology, I have a bookmark folder with useful links I usually send to friends that ask me about it.

I found this very good technical text that summarizes almost everything there is related to Ethereum technology, it was written a few days ago and is aimed to more a more experienced public (some blockchain and programming knowledge required):

Thanks for sharing more useful links. That was really helpful. I wish to add some few links for the beginners who follow the Ethereum technology.

Why so many altcoins use the Ethereum Technology?
Simply because that ethereum is the very first token platform. It is big, stable and evolving constantly.

That is right. It has the first runner advantage.
