I think with all the upcoming ICOs there will be plenty of buying support.... however we are getting to a stage where there are also lots of  post-ICO companies holding huge quantities of ETH that they need to either hedge in value or liquidate on a regular occasion to pay real world costs.... I feel this balance will hold for a while but there must be a tipping point one way or another... an quite often that leads to some panic selling...

I agree with this

I love reading these predictions...everybody is mumbling something but 1 thing is for sure - nobody knows what will be...I say it could reach 10.000$ by the end of this year...it's not impossible. Smiley

It is not impossible because the head of the eth is signing up with the biggest companies in the world that could make the eth pumps quicky Cheesy Lets hope that it would be succesful this following years or this year. ETH is one of the potential that is following the footsteps of bitcoin so it is really promising coin.

As we see today at exchanges the Chinese shock should be over  Smiley

I was also shocked from the first reports but kept on relaxing after some research
who is really concerned by this decision (Chinese investors are not the ones).

So it seems ETH will go ahead

As Ethereum is traded as the "second important currency" in the market
it comes to my mind to compare the pair BTC/ETH with Gold/Silver.
As the behavior seems to bee similar.
When one rises the other follows and vice versa.
So I want to open this thread to discuss the future of the "second currency" Ethereum.

When you post a possible goal for Ethereum in an estimated timeframe,
I am also interested for what reasons yout think of this goal.

In my opinion the rise of ETH is as unbelievable as it appears in BTC till the beginning of this year,
remembering April 2017 when ETH stood at about 50 $.
So its increase in value is much more impressive as that of BTC.

Keeping this development in mind a course of 600 to 800 $ seems to be a realistic reach even in this year.

What to you think?
Possible. Like you said, ethereum is the second most important cryptocurrency (correction), next to bitcoin. It will not be considered as one of the most important cryptocurrency if its not that good. Of course ethereum have good properties, so i think it possible for it to reach that price within these year, hope so, if nothing bad will happen. I'm not certain about that because unexpected thing takes place uncontrollably. But it has the great chance to achieve that point at this time

the ethereum as 2nd coins in the decentralized cryptocurrency has not possible to rise the price value, even the ethereum get higher value than bitcoin value, but bitcoin is always a bitcoin, and his the king of all coins, the king even in the lower value always ontop his popularity among all coins, and goes uprise again because the have a movement and bitcoin value are ontop again.

I've been buying and watching Ethereum when it was only $11 USD. I expect it to continue to grow, and the percentage by which it already has grown far exceeds Bitcoin. Ethereum isn't just a currency, it's a blockchain platform that's capable of fully utilizing the technology, and that's why it's not going anywhere anytime soon and will only continue to grow.

Well,
they are like great astrologers. Everyone says prices are like magicians. I'm not sure they say it honestly. I'm sure they just wasted their time.
There may be some that are true, and that's just a coincidence.
It's hard to tell which one is better.

ETH will definitely touch the 0.1 price. do not believe it, I'm just guessing. Grin

ETH is presented as the best altcoin that even gives greater opportunities for speculators to make awesome profit on trading. I am optimistic, holding ETH for long time is also very profitable as has been proven by btc now. Patience of struggling within ETH provides a definite profits in the future.

ETH will continue to rise. It has been rising at a consistent pace against the dollar for a while now, and no signs of stopping.

Also it isn't like silver to BTC gold... ETH's purpose isn't as a store of value, it's way more than that.

$600 to $800 within the year is a humble prediction for Etherium's price. The end of 2017 is still 4 months to go and Etherium's price is already close to $400. That will be surpassed, I mean the $400 threshold, by September for sure. So there is still 3 months left, which is a long time for approximately a hundred dollars left before hitting the $600 figure.

You seem to ignore some important developments that could influence Ethereums price in either direction. The most important one being ETH going PoS sooner or later with the Ice-Age preceeding this transition. This could have a tremendous effect on the support the currency enjoys.

Comparing the 90-day charts on coingecko.com it seems to me like I mentioned.
As in Gold/Silver, you see often a forerun or a run after of silver,
one can state the same behavior for ETH to BTC.

And yes it is impressive in percentages and % is the only count at the market Grin

BTC rose about 300 %
ETH about 600 %

ETH seems like the clear outperformer (currently)

And yes ETH and BTC are completely different.
As Gold (currency)
and silver (industry metal) is.
Yes, the comparison might limp but I would of course never say they are an equal pair.

Just discussing and seeking for answers.

1. As Ethereum is traded as the "second important currency" in the market
2. it comes to my mind to compare the pair BTC/ETH with Gold/Silver.
3. As the behavior seems to bee similar.
4. When one rises the other follows and vice versa.
none of these 4 statements are correct!
1. ethereum is not at all important and not at all the second one. it is the first noisy coin of all times and the most pumped altcoin though.
2. nobody compares bitcoin and ethereum because they have nothing in common. the noise that i said is doing it for advertisement but in fact bitcoin is a currency and ETH is a token which is not even supposed to be a currency.
3&4. if you really compare the charts of bitcoin and ethereum you can clearly see that the exact opposite of what you said is true.
when bitcoin rises, ethereum falls

Quote
So its increase in value is much more impressive as that of BTC.
impressive eh?
this year bitcoin started out at $1000 and has been only rising ever since and now it is at nearly $4500. the biggest drop that it had was because of a large scale FUD about the internal war and split that caused a nearly 20% drop which didn't even last more than 1 day.

ethereum was pumped to $400 this year only because of countless ICOs which are forced to buy ETH tokens and then as these ICOs cashed out, the price crashed down which is about a 70% drop.

so yeah it is very impressive to have a 70% drop and still struggle to reach back to the ATH of the pump and reside below it.

Keeping this development in mind a course of 600 to 800 $ seems to be a realistic reach even in this year.

What to you think?
what development is that?
i don't really see anything changing about ETH, they just are trying to switch to PoS because of the bomb they have implemented a long time ago and it is about to go off. so this is a rushed fork which they are not even prepared for properly.

bottom line:
is 600-800 possible?
of course it is, as it is possible with any other pump and dump altcoin. but the chances of falling is a lot more serious. specially with the unknown territory of PoS and the death of mining.

Ethereum cannot be a silver if bitcoin is gold. They are very different coins, that it follow bitcoin doesn't mean it is silver, most coins do so. In my opinion litecoin is already silver.

Ethereum is a really good coin. However, ERC20 has to have more technology than token transactions. Maybe now he's one of the best coins in terms of technology. However, according to the current position, this is not an adequate technology.

The thing I want to tell you is that the Ethereum team needs to do a lot more. This requires more work. It may take a short time now to look like the best 2nd coin. It may exceed the level of maybe 600 dollars, but the price may rise more rapidly in future coins.

Eth is a really good coin I'm always gonna agree to that currently we do see because of the eth erc20 tokens raising funds for ico has been easier despite of raising millions and a potential threat of the price getting dumped eth as maintained it's resistance pretty easily.
The only issue with eth is the price remains constant for a long time and suddenly shoots by $300 or $400 because of this you might get impatient but i would say it worth waiting.
