Then again, they probably only got the timeframe wrong. I am expecting Eth to hit $2500 eventually, but it might not even be in 2020. I just don't know, nor does anyone else, but my best guess is that when Eth finally goes pos there will be some huge buying so that investors own the required 32 Eth in order to stake it. That will drive up the price at least a little. Add some FOMO to that and it's a recipe for a huge price increase.
Even if my scenario doesn't come true, I still think it will get to at least $2500 within the next couple of years. Bitcoin no doubt will experience one of its major bull jumps, will probably exceed its own all time high, and Eth will be along for the ride. A 10x gain is not outside the realm of possibility.
Well, predictions are just predictions. They're not a guarantee that an asset will reach a certain price in the future. I believe that the OP's prediction of $2,500 per ETH is just a wild guess. It's possible that we'll see Ethereum touching that USD valuation within a couple of years from now, if Bitcoin continues on an uptrend in price across the crypto market. The much-awaited PoS upgrade for Ethereum could make things exciting for early investors, as prices start to skyrocket like never before. However, Bitcoin will be the true indicator of ETH's price over the long term. We've already seen how altcoins behave on the market once Bitcoin increases in price.
Whenever Bitcoin goes up, most altcoins do the same. Ethereum, being the world's second largest cryptocurrency by market cap, follows Bitcoin's footsteps very closely. With due time, we'll be able to see higher prices than now. In the meantime, it's best to stay calm and never panic sell with wild fluctuations in ETH's price. It's considered by many people that ETH's current pricing is dirt cheap. If you manage to get a stake in Ethereum now, you'll be able to obtain massive profits in the future.
Nonetheless, it'll take a long time before ETH hits $2,500 anytime soon. The upcoming years could spur some interest into ETH among people in the mainstream world, as it implements new upgrades in order to boost Blockchain performance. This would increase demand for ETH, as it's used for interacting with the world's most popular dApps. Slowly but surely, ETH will head to $500 per coin, then $1000 and beyond. But the key here to is to invest wisely at the right time, in order to benefit from ETH's upsurge in price by a long shot. Just my opinion
