what is your AMD driver version for mining ETH with 7950?
I think it doesn't really matters. I use 15.7.1

Anyone know how to compile this on Linux?

Yes, there is a Wiki here:
https://github.com/ethereum/webthree-umbrella/wiki/Building-on-Ubuntu
Ubuntu 15.10 works, I've tested both Cuda and AMD implementations.

Building manually is brutal and takes time and a lot of "make VERBOSE=1" tweaking.

IF YOU'RE A NOOB, USE WINDOWS

## you may have to manually install the specific version of cryptopp or edit the cmake file to allow for version 5.6.3 (the latest)

mkdir cryptopp && cd cryptopp
wget -O cryptopp562.zip http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/cryptopp/cryptopp/5.6.2/cryptopp562.zip?r=&ts=1456766520&use_mirror=iweb
unzip cryptopp562.zip && rm cryptopp562.zip
nano GNUmakefile  // add "CXXFLAGS += -fPIC" just before the make definitions
make static dynamic -j2 && sudo make install
cd ..

*Make sure you use the latest AMD or Nvidia GPU drivers
AFAIK, previous version of the GPU drivers won't work with the XServer on Ubuntu 15.10

Thanks a lot for posting such informative post. GTX 970 is a great power efficient card but 7950/280x are too good if you consider the price and mining performance. I am getting around 19Mhashes in 7950 card. Thanks a lot to the community, specially genoil. Happy mining
My gigabyte 7950 1050/1400 with only 1.07 volt makes 21-23 mh/s. local work 128, global 16384
Running 60c with quiet 50% fan.

asus 7990 1000/[email protected] makes 45-46 mh/s, need very loud 80% fan mode to keep it below 70C (((

1. Why is my hashrate with Nvidia cards on Windows 8 and 10 so low?
The new WDDM 2.0 driver on Windows 8 and 10 uses a different way of addressing the GPU. This is good for a lot of things, but not for ETH mining.
What is WDDM 2.0 driver?

Is this the graphics driver ?
If so can I install a driver from 1 year ago and then will that work?

Thx

the hashrate is clearly displayed, you can see 40mega, 40.721.398H, if this is with two 980, it's relly bad, because my single 970 is doing 22M

what version 970 do you get 22mhs with , I have two EVGAs and an MSI and they get 20.9 , 21 and 18 respectively

gigabyte WF oc

Yup its with two of them.
Coinotron is showing ~46.5Mh for the 980Tis

And just for fun I put the same miner on my gaming desktop that has a 290x and its getting 26-31

Who knows... maybe im doing it wrong.

You need to do P0 state trick, after that oc your memory so that gpuz shows 2000MHz. My 970's max out at 22MH, 980 at 24MH, don't have any 980ti's but my guess is they can do 26MH.

even at 26 they are still not good for ethereum, they should do something like 32 to be competitive versus 970
but they may be good at mining decred with their 80%+ in comparison to a 970

Posted the picture above. Its hard to tell what exactly is going on with the ether miner compared to other ones.

Used the GPU-z app to see the load on the GPUs just to double check and it does show both GPUs at ~98% load

a question, is the 980ti better than 970 for ethereum? what is the hashrate?

i means better in terms of watt/reward

seems that the 980 is slower than a 280x, not worth it for the moment, maybe ther will be a tweak in the future
I wonder what the 980ti will do?

I have two 980Ti's but im not sure how to get the miner to see both GPUs
Yes I know what you mean.....what hashrate are you getting?

i heard the maximus possible for a single card, on ethereum is 32 mega, due to some access thing, i don't remember
