Evidence? And what community is this? There's always people who accuse every market of being a honeypot usually just based on suspicion and paranoia. I don't doubt they try infiltrate them, but wouldn't setting up your own black market be entrapment or at the very least just plain illegal?
Well, the FBI has a long history of using entrapment as it's primary tool.  I do not think it really matters what legalese they use to justify or permit it, it is the way it is.

There would definitely be some of us they would not want on juries...
I would say that it is a bit of a stretch to say that entrapment is the primary tool the FBI uses. I would say that some of what they do is 'on the border' and many people would probably not like their tactics however it would probably not be considered to be entrapment

Someone should tell them about OpenBazaar Smiley

The millions of $$$ wasted taking down a few sites could have been spent on catching the real criminals (politicians, banksters and lobbyists)

So what is special about this?
You're doing illegal things. If you use fiat, or Bitcoin they will come for you if they find out about it.

True.

Ha ha, Oerting, the Barty Crouch of Europol  Cheesy

I am surprised they find qualified staff at all, how kaputt must a qualified IT professional be to work for a place like that.

I don't believe these markets keep logfiles/account histories of their customers, that would be immensely stupid.

Why does Europol not utilize their resources to catch the countless scammers in the Bitcoin world? Ah, of course, they want to destroy BTC, so scammers are their natural allies. In fact government officials are following a similar business model, whereas the so called "dark marketplaces" are really based on mutual consent.

Taxes and BTC hackers/scammers are not based on mutual consent.

People were fighting black market for centuries and it always prevailed. It doesn't matter how many sites they close new ones will keep appearing as long as there is demand for their services. Just like hookers and pimps were always around and will be a hundred years from now.

No, it won't be entrapment. But illegal yes(facilitating in drug trafficking). But, I believe it's common knowledge that a decent enough portion of those markets are run by law enforcement, or those connected to.
The law enforcement agencies that are investigating crimes are generally able commit what would otherwise be a crime if the purpose is to catch criminals committing worse crimes. This sounds very much backwards however the law is written this way

I believe user's of those darknet sites are in trouble if they:

a) Are Large vendors/sellers

b) Are frequent Consumers

c) Are staff/admins of said marketplace

d) Use/Accept Bitcoin to buy goods or receive as payment(Blockchain Analysis Programs)

It would only be entrapment if they solicited others to buy/sell illegal items. If people were to simply host the site and not advertise, but people come to the site anyway then it is not entrapment.

The secret service can do whatever they want including running a fake ID factory for several years and actually selling real fake IDs http://www.wired.com/2013/07/open-market/
The same is true for other branches of law enforcement when it comes to selling/buying drugs, as this is how many drug dealers are caught (an under cover officer buying illegal drugs from a drug dealer)

they are honey-pot operations secretly maintained by law enforcement.
If that was true it would truly be amazing, a genius ploy that would have made history for the ages.

“I think there will be more than 55 different markets shut down. We didn’t get (major sites) Agora or Evolution, because there’s only so much we can do on one day.”

I think they meant to say, "I think there will be more than 55 different markets shut down. We didn’t get (major sites) Agora or Evolution, because they are honey-pot operations secretly maintained by law enforcement.

What do you base this on? Are you claiming they were set up by LE or have just been infiltrated/taken over?
