Everyone that's into sports betting has done this at some point. Playing a running game thats going quite well can come with a lot of hopes, especially if you have one game left to play out on your ticket. You'll definitely start thinking of what to do with those funds that isn't in your bank account yet and if it eventually goes sides ways it would be very disappointing because you put in a lot of expectations in it. Gambling with a delusional mindset can break your heart, stop thinking about a win that you haven't claimed, have fun with the game and accept whatever result you get.

The worst ridiculous and ugliest moment I have ever encountered pertaining gambling is when a friend told me and few other friends that he was going to take responsibility of the bills for our weekend hangout.

This is hilarious like is the energy for me, in as much as you gamble for fun and also to get something out of it at least one shouldn't have that mindset that I'll do this and that meanwhile the said money isn't at hand yet. I know few persons that does this and I'll be like how sure are you, sometimes their positivity will results to something huge but in most cases nothing so you can't be putting hope on indefinite things that are yet to be true. Lol I can't do that honestly and like you said he was no where to be found later on which is to say it didn't turn out well for him.

MLM business is necessary to know. No, honestly, what do you know about this network direction of doing business? I have spent many years on the Internet and I know perfectly well what I am talking about. If you seriously enter this direction, then you will not be disappointed with the final result. Many people have made a lot of money on this business and still continue to do so. Now the world of digital technologies and it has become much easier to find clients, partners for online business, and so on.

Are you talking about MLM business? I didn't get if you were saying that many people made a lot of money in this business. If so, I want to say yes, probably it is true that some people make a lot of money. But they all started at the beginning of a platform. What about who joined an MLM business late? They were always the victim of this MLM shit business which is a scam.

There was a company in Bangladesh Destiny which scammed billions of dollars from millions of people. There are some online MLM platforms as well which promise high returns and I believe all of them are scams. I do not think anyone should invest a single dollar in those kinds of businesses.

The worst ridiculous and ugliest moment I have ever encountered pertaining gambling is when a friend told me and few other friends that he was going to take responsibility of the bills for our weekend hangout.
He had us that confidence to be unfailingly.
Guess what???
It was actually from a game he booked against the weekend that had him that morale to had projected this weekend hangout amongst us and it was not that he had secured the money to be assured.

As a matter of fact, he was nowhere to be found all through the weekend and could not even take his calls because he felt messed up of himself for the false promises.
While time passes by, you can imagine how he narrated the stories and felt remorseful of being a d!ck head as the game failed him as predicted.

I know you might feel disappointed, but guess what? Your friend is an optimistic person, and maybe he's just a beginner in gambling. After all, experts never rely on gambling profits to support their lives. The money they set aside for play is just the extra cash they don’t need for anything else. Honestly, I used to dream the same way (though not in gambling), and I learned that being overly optimistic can sometimes affect the positive person you are. Your friend is wrong, of course, but try to find him an excuse Wink. He invited you into his dreams and expectations without your consent Grin. I bet that after what happened, he’ll think twice before doing that again!

He could just be full of positive emotions that he will win and think that it will manifest in real life,  Smiley. And for sure, many gamblers here have thought of that before playing, we see and dream that one day we are going to win big or just simply winning when go to out and play specially in land base casinos as everything is physical. I mean there are slot machines and players and then you think that one spin in your favorite slot games, you will hit and win the jackpot.

I've seen some of that as well in tiktok, wherein people getting inside a physical casinos and then they are asked how much money they are going to win. So they will say this x numbers. But at the end of the night, all of them have nothing in their pocket and showing no money winnings at all, so funny.  Grin

The most important point here is that your bet has no guarantee that you will win and you can manage your choices and plans when you start betting. Losing should be taken for granted because you know before betting that winning here has to come with luck. When i bet i tend to think more about losing because even losing doesn't change my mind. Again, I don't think about how i will enjoy winning because i combine losing and winning together. My plan is different and I am more motivated to gamble with this in mind.
It is also clear that in a gamble, the name of victory cannot be guaranteed to be obtained, there are some people who have high self-confidence that they can definitely win in gambling, now discussing self-confidence is not wrong, but sometimes being too confident can be a disaster or a weapon that will kill us like in gambling. When we have high self-confidence, the possibility that occurs is just emotion.
I also shouldn't think about losing, we have to be able to optimize everything, thinking that we can definitely win is wrong, thinking too much about losing is not necessary. We ourselves must be able to minimize our thoughts by gambling only as entertainment, because basically gambling is a paid entertainment facility and for those who are lucky they can win.

Well, your friend is a dumbass. Most gamblers are dumb, even I consider myself stupid, but I'm not as stupid as your friend.
Being 100% sure that you are going to win in a gambling game(even if we are talking about sports betting) is beyond stupid.
Making false promises and breaking them is pretty common among the people. I hate making promises to anyone because I don't want to feel regrets for not keeping them. I usually don't trust people, who are promising something to me. Most people are so unreliable nowadays. I don't know what happened. Did social media ruin all the people?
We don't have to promise something if we don't know how we can fills that especially in gambling because gambling have uncertainty that we don't know when we can win. We can place a bet without saying anything to our friends and let them see the outcome. When we can win, we can buy them food and drink and celebrate it but if we lose, we don't have to fills any promises to them because we don't give that to them. They will understand that we can not always win in gambling so they will not say many things about us and no one will feel that we lie to them. We can still meet them without worry if they will say bad things about us so that will not affect to our relationship.

I wasn't is similar situation. But I have seen this kind of thing in other sectors. I am sure you know about MLM business. You will see they often promise such things to people with the hope that people will join their fucking team. The latest thing I could remember is a Telegram Airdrop Hamster Combat. The airdrop hunters were promising to their friends that they will give a treat once they get the airdrop reward. Even some of them planned to buy a new phone, a laptop, and even a bike. But the Hamster combat disappointed all of them. LOL. Some people even ordered things from online by cash on delivery with the hope that they will have cash before the product arrive. Haha.

I don’t know what is the correlation of social media to op’s friend. Even without social media, people like him existed. They are cocky and egotistical and love showing off. I also would love to treat my friends but this kind of people just want to treat their friends to show off and appear rich. Not only is he stupid for promising something he doesn’t have just yet but he also seems to be like the kind of person who will lose all his money in one night.

Not a good friend to have, imo.

This is funny, how will someone go this extreme to hope on an unforeseen circumstances, people should learn not to hope or have confidence in what they can control, prediction remains what they are and as a matter of fact no one is certain about the outcome of any bet, though I have heard this kind of story before, people tends to have much confidence in their bet bookings but failing to understand that no matter how good you think you are in forecasting matches, the fact you must consider is that you can't be sure of your bets, so it will be advisable for us not to put all our hope in something that's not realistic, though the expectation of every bettor is to win but bettors should also understand that losing is inevitable as far as betting is concerned and that's more reason why its unwise to hope on an event that we can't determine the actual outcome.

Yea, he has to feel remorseful of his actions and I believe he has learned too, though he learned in a hard way which is a very disgraceful way to learn, I know he is full of regret because ordinarily there was no need for him to promise to sponsor a Bill from an uncertain stuff, I think this will also serve as a lesson to many people here not to make the same mistake.

I think everyone starts thinking about the final outcome, whether that is doubling your money or winning against huge odds in the lottery. I rarely place any bets and probably buy lottery tickets the most, but it is nice to dream of leaving your job and being set forever by swapping a cheap ticket for millions. It can actually give you a lot of hope in life, even though the chances of winning are infinitesimally small, and bring a bit of happiness at the possibility. For football bets or similar however, it does add a bit more spice to watching the game and makes me feel more involved - especially when a group of friends all have different bets placed as you watch it.
Oh, yes! How I understand you perfectly about adding thrills when you personally place a bet on a match. You watch it completely differently than without a bet. More worries, emotions and adrenaline. It turns out that betting is not such a bad thing ) You just have to be extremely careful and attentive, so that disappointment does not come later instead of happy memories.

That is clearly a case of over confidence. Not only he assumed that he is going to win but also announced it to their friends.
He must really be foolish at that time but I hope he learnt from this situation and took it as a lesson to not depend on gambling completely.

Not only just over confidence, I think the guy wanted to prove something, and that's something like "hey, I'm good at this and you my friends should follow me next time". Or maybe the guy was struggling financially and so envious about his friend's achievements, so he counted his eggs before it hatched, then promised his friends over the weekend and then lost everything eventually. OR maybe most likely, he was promised that he was betting on a fixed match and the probability of winning is 100%.
That was really a platter of shame upon my friend. Maybe next time even when he is assumed to be 100% sure of his winning, he would keep it upon himself and only make plans of his winning after the game has played.

I think as gamblers with high expectations from the casinos we need not to be too reliable believing too confidently in a predetermined future game rather than only rejoice only when the game has played on your favour.

That of my friends confidence was too high to the point to had made plans against how to spend his winning.

This is one thing we usually do, perhaps no one plays a bet and expect to loss, but being overly excited when the game has not ended can becomes a problem when the game didn't end as expected, the story about your friend is even lesser, I have seen people buying things on credit, pricing properties to buy, in budgets of their potential winning amounts, I must say there is an excitements that comes from seeing our potential winning amounts which every gambler can never deny. But however, we don't have to be super excited not until the end of the games as not to be disappointed.
You are very correct and I completely agree with you, this is something I've been a victim of when I was still very new to gambling. Infact, the very first day I placed my very first bet on sports, I was very excited because there was absolutely no expectation of losing in me, I was very optimistic I would win the bet, in my head, I built houses, bought luxurious cars, wore good cloths, wristwatches, shoes, became a big boy over night, I daydreamed until when I had the chance of going to check if my ticket won since I didn't have the opportunity of watching the games live
(it was a ticket with 5 games together, so the potential win amount was actually huge) I saw that I won three games on the ticket, the other two ended in a loss - words can't explain how disappointed I was.

It was a friend I copied the game from by the way, since at that time, I didn't know how to compile games into one bet ticket.

I had a similar experience but mine was a personal thing, I didn't promise anyone to get them something but I did told myself I was going to get something for my self a d my anticipation were very high already because I had window shopped already so I believed within myself it was something I was going to make happen and sadly it never happened, the game was lost, I was so disappointed I had to encourage myself and learnt my lessons never to have such false hope, and since then, untill the last minutes of the last game, I don't assume I have won rhe game so I do not allow the former incident happen again because of a truth I cannot bear it as it will really hurt me badly.

I don't see any reason why should get their hope high in gambling, when you are fully aware they you winning is boils down to luck . Which means you can either win or lose . So not getting your expectation high would help in relieving the stress in gambling. And would help one to approach gambling in the right way , because most time alot folks always get their hope high in gambling because they believe they can get rich through gambling fast which may also trigger some sense of gambling addition too.

When we are playing a game of luck and have high hopes to be able to win, it is very stupid because we will never know the result we will get until we finish the game, which you say is very correct by not putting high expectations on the bets we play, it can reduce the disappointment when we do not get good results from the gambling.
If someone thinks that by doing gambling will be able to make them rich, of course this is very incorrect and most of those who think that gambling is easy to get rich they will continue to gamble and it is not uncommon for us to see them will be addicted to gambling.

Aside gambling wins, everyone relates to this kind of thoughts on awaiting funds. However, it's always important to develop these expectation on funds we are sure to get, so as not to be disappointed as you said. Although, gamblers know of the uncertainty in gaming results, yet, the unforseen expenses happen involuntarily, and also attributes to why most players wager immediately they've lost money.

I know of a player that predicts on multiple games just to imagine himself owning the potential wins on his slips. And over his days as a player he's been losing for accumulating bets on strange teams.
