If the government allows crypto, you will probably see many Bitcoin or altcoin logos and even meme token logos in every city. People will start putting up those logos in lots of places and not that, maybe they'll start putting up signs accepting payments using Bitcoin or altcoins or meme tokens.

Adoption can continue if there is approval from the government so that people are not afraid if they install crypto attributes in businesses, places or wherever they want. This will increase public awareness to continue spreading the news about crypto in many places.

But if the writing BTC doesn't mean Bitcoin, it means it doesn't aim to tell many people about the existence of Bitcoin. It just refers to the abbreviation of Bayelsa Transport Company, namely BTC. So don't think too much about it unless you put a BTC sticker on your vehicle.

I live in a locality called MINAMA, in Rivers State, but a few days ago I traveled to a state called BAYELSA. When I reached Bayelsa, I saw a taxi that was writing BTC taxi and I was wondering, how? Why was BTC written on top of the taxi? I was beginning to think that the government of Bayelsa state had accepted BTC, but to my greatest surprise, it wasn't for Bitcoin, but an abbreviation of a sentence (But that doesn't mean anything).

The reason why I chose to bring this thread here was because I believe that the government don't want to do with anything called BTC (Bitcoin), but I was surprised to see the state government put the sign of BTCBTC in their state taxi, not just one but about 100 of the taxi he bought.

Although the government doesn't actually mean Bitcoin, as long as the letter BTC is theirs, it also means Bitcoin, and moreover, this BTC sign will also help spread the awareness of Bitcoin in that state, so every ear must hear the letters BTC. The old and the young will hear about it, so when Bitcoin will start pumping that everyone will be in a rush to join, nobody will say that he or she didn't hear about BTC.
Yes we can see BTC Taxi written on the car. It doesn't actually refer to Bitcoin. BTC has many abbreviations like (Bayelsa Transport Company). If the car had Bitcoin written on it, it would give Bitcoin abbreviation and scanning code. But nothing like that is given here. If there are people from that country here, they can give a good explanation about it. What is actually meant by BTC here? We cannot say anything but conjecture. However btc is basically what we who work in bitcoin like to hear btc. That's why we immediately thought it was Bitcoin.

I tend to agree OP.  They know what they're doing.  Like this newsperson Brian Taylor Cohen is not advertising for BTC, he is using BTC to advertise for himself.

let me guess

Bayelsa Taxi Cabs
It is wrong. The full meaning of that abbreviation is "Bayalsa Transport Company" (BTC) and it has nothing to do with bitcoin (BTC) though the OP did not make more research before creating the thread probably it was the anxiousness of her that make her to create the thread. This is a transport company which own by the State Government. And the services of the company were stopped for years back because of mismanagement, and recently, because of the hardship and the hike of Tfare (Transport Fare), the state government decided to reduce or subsidize the price for the poor people in his own state. And for that all the State own Taxies, Buses and other transport vehicles must abbreviate the company name as BTC (Bayelsa Transport Company).

The name BTC (Bayelsa Transport Company) has been on existence for a very long time because the company is a public own company, the management is very poor, ill-equipped, ill-staff so the name is not popular for many people in the country at large if not by the right as a transport company, it supposed to travel across the country for people to see and quickly reorganize the different between BTC as bitcoin and BTC as Bayelsa Transport Company.

It is really misleading to other people because the BTC that they will be reading on the taxi is too far from the BTC that we are using right now because when they hear it, they think of the taxi that is blue, not the Bitcoin that has a valuable and high value.

Lastly, don't put the Bitcoin logo on the end of BTC because it's annoying to see, I want to see it at the start of the Bitcoin.

don't Put the LOGO of BTC (BTC) because it wasn't added in the taxi photo ,
but instead the abbreviation only of btc.

But I may  join your belief that even though it doesn't stand for bitcoin   yet that is favoring our market  here.

and is that a taxi operated by Government? as you keep mentioning? or a Private taxi operators?

If the BTC written on public taxis is not the abbreviation Bitcoin, it could mean the abbreviation Bayelsa Taxi Club. Only in that case you might think more of Bitcoin when you see the abbreviation BTC on some of the taxi cars there, so that's why it's important to research first before immediately judging what we see in the current world.

It probably wouldn't mean anything to the people there if the word BTC had been on the 100 taxi units for a long time because the people there would think the abbreviation BTC was for the taxi group, not Bitcoin. So it is also necessary for several people to inform and direct the people there so that they don't immediately think about taxis when someone mentions BTC, which you have also experienced when you see the abbreviation BTC on 100 taxi units which in your mind is Bitcoin.

If no one tells them that BTC is Bitcoin, then those who are there will always think that BTC is a taxi in their own area. So it would be better if there were people who wanted to give them a special understanding of Bitcoin so that they don't just think of taxis when someone says BTC in front of them. Because as long as no one wants to tell them that BTC is Bitcoin, then they will always think that BTC is an abbreviation for Bayelsa Taxi Club which was built by someone there.

Now let's get the picture clear to ensure that every i is well doted, in your country am sure the government law is not against the use of bitcoin in the country, they probably don't allow the banks or any other approved regulated financial institutions to perform any bitcoin related transactions, which means by law it is legal to use bitcoin even though your government does not make it a legal tender, those cars you see having bitcoin on them would have been bought by bitcoin or contracted to a bitcoiner who feels he should make it appears that way as part of his own awareness on bitcoin to the world.

Lol, if you read the earlier replies your thought would have been different. It is BTC because it is an abbreviation of Bayelsa State Transport Company just like this reply stated.

The meaning of the BTC signs on those taxes is Bayelsa State Transport Company (BTC) and they were bought to help the citizen cushion the effect of the removal of petroleum subsidy in Nigeria.

The cabs are also not bought with Bitcoin since it was not declared on the article. And take note there is no BTC on that BTC ticker that is attached on those taxi cabs.  So this thing has nothing to do with BTC except for thr Taxi's Ticker BTC

I doubt that government tries to intentionally avoid everything connected to Bitcoin, a much likelier explanation is that they don't know about it and don't care about accidental association. That's even more depressing than the government trying to fight Bitcoin, because it shows how insignificant it is in the grand scheme of things.

When I read the post by the author of this topic, my first thought was: does this taxi accept payment in bitcoin? OP, you can consider that you managed to prank me.

There will be no benefit from people seeing the abbreviation BTC on these taxis, because local residents have no idea what bitcoin is and the effect of popularizing BTC will not work in this case.
Exactly mate, I was also hoping the see the bitcoin logo because that was what came into my thoughts when I saw the BTC abbreviation for Bayelsa Transport Company. This wouldn't create any awareness for bitcoin because the people already know that BTC is not bitcoin. Only the logo of bitcoin is enough to spread awareness to people in anywhere it is.  Although those people like you that are into crypto, the moment they see the acronym BTC,they can still relate it to bitcoin in their thoughts. I was thinking that Bayelsa state has started accepting bitcoin as an alternative payment but along the line I got the picture of the whole thing.

Seems it’s not the bitcoin, but it was curious to know the exact meaning for the state taxis. In some countries the bitcoin and the crypto currency was legalised and used in the shop by the traders. The government get the TDS from the traders at each and every trade. So the government get the tax on each trade by the trading. As OP said,it was seems the bitcoin was not legalised by the government of Bayelsa. Some people in their shop accepting the bitcoin using the scan code used for the fiat transaction. The reason was bitcoin had their next halves in the upcoming years.

It's Bitcoin but the abbreviation is BTC, yes the abbreviation is popular with Bitcoin but if it fits any other thing it can be used like the case you withness at Bayelsa state. Well the letter is not enough to spread the word in terms of Bitcoin, you are just coming to the state I guess so if you stay a while you may notice that people are very familiar with the letter BTC on the cab and what it means.

It’s quite recent actually. The state government decided to make provisions for cheaper transport since the increase in petrol price. OP should have done his research or asked questions before getting excited. Not everything is about bitcoin. Although bitcoin is very popular among Nigerians, the government is still on the fence about bitcoin.

Quote
The new transport scheme, according to Governor Diri, will help cushion the effect of the removal of petrol subsidies and alleviate the sufferings of residents of the state.

Diri called upon the scheme’s operator, the Bayelsa State Transport Company (BTC), to consider the country’s current economic realities when determining fare rates for various routes during the scheme’s inauguration at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall in Onopa, Yenagoa.
https://guardian.ng/news/bayelsa-govt-unveils-106-vehicles-for-intra-city-transportation/amp/

True that, this will also give confusion to people and may lead to other understanding when someone say BTC.  People who are residing on that area understand that BTC means Bayelsa State Transport and will have that thought when they read BTC even though it pertains to Bitcoin.

This action does not popularize Bitcoin but rather it will even give misunderstanding and confusions due to the same ticker but different meaning.

Many of us as crypto enthusiasts see the BTC abbreviation to be bitcoin but in this case, I don't think it is so since you are in a state called Bayelsa and the BTC is been abbreviated on top of taxis in the state. With all that, your mind should have given the idea that this BTC abbreviation you see on taxis can mean something else, it must not be bitcoin. It can be Bayelsa Transport Company(BTC), Which is the meaning.

When you would have thought to conclude the BTC abbreviation you see is bitcoin would have been when it has the bitcoin symbol displayed with the BTC symbol. That's when you have to come to the notion that bitcoin awareness is been spread indirectly through taxis

Hmm, considering the Op's title I can also assure you that at least from social experience, we can have a result of 90% of people hearing about Bitcoin whether it was introduced to them as a negative entity or a financial opportunity. People at least know there's a thing called BTC (Bitcoin), for which to let them adopt the market all we need to make them aware of the reality, to help them to step out of the media and press maturation with narrative building about the Bitcoin as a scam, Ponzi etc etc. At least in underdeveloping countries I've never seen such speedy developments, as I do accept most of them re joining to make a few bucks but after they get into market their narrative really changes as they learn.

Now by that logic put all your money in Vechain!
Because I myself know like one hundred locations that have VET in their name and every single animal lover and owner has at least one passed by one of those, so comparing to 100 taxies in a location 99% of the world doesn't even know where it is on a map is nothing!
Also, don't forget to throw some money at Gym AI, I saw so many GYM signs that for sure it's going to reach one trillion per coin in the next bull run.

Too bad the TAXI coin is dead
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/taxi/
that would have been a killer.
The more of these hilarious copium topics I read the more I'm getting sure this bear market is starting to bite really deep.

Oh, btw, once Bitcoin is a bull run would that mean that the Thai baht with also skyrocket against the dollar?

Having those abbreviations wont really be that telling or pertain about Bitcoin itself.
Just like on what been pointed out on next post of some members which it is indeed accurate and real thing which means those are
just abbreviations which its better not to make things which you do assume that it is really that Bitcoin that what been showing.
Being optimistic about acceptance and recognition isnt that bad and this is why due to excitement and being hopeful then we do close up our mind
whenever we do have those kind of fixed emotions.  Wink

You shouldn't be surprised, because I can't see any BTC BTC signs there. Means nothing with Bitcoin. It would just be a short form of something in their native language, and so on. There would be a lot of BTC abbreviations in the world. Doesn't mean even they are familiar with Bitcoin. As Bitcoin enthusiasts, we may think positively, but in reality, nothing changes. So always be realistic when you see something like this in the future.
