As a member of the forum and you're not growing in knowledge of the main purpose for which the forum was created for then it's a waste of time and energy for you.  The forum is not just about earnings so if your growth in the forum is focused in ranks you are basically not growing.

In otherwords, if you are lucky enough to scale through the ranks without proportional growth in knowledge of bitcoin then such growth is no good growth at all. A newbie in bitcoin knowledge but an old member by rank you just like a container without a content. So it would be nice of us if we can from time to time take a quiet moment and examine ourselves in relation to the idea behind the forum, ask ourselves necessary questions regarding our timeline with our level of knowledge to the actual purpose of the forum (bitcoin knowledge).

Is it even possible to grow here without knowledge? I know there are different sections in the forum and everyone has the one they are best good at but in one way or the other, crypto must be involved. As far as you are here and growing up, even if you don't have depth knowledge of crypto you'll at least know the basics. Earning here is another discussion and you can not achieve that without having crypto knowledge. At least you will need to have a wallet set up before you think of earning. One thing I know is that even if you are here for earning specifically, that mindset will change if you continue to explore the forum.
I think I subscribe to your point. No area anyone can grow without proper knowledge of the basics  within such field before advancing to the top. And crypto isn't anything that's too hard to learn and understand provided you're determined to , you just have to decide what area you to dive into either for technical knowledge or fundamental aspects and you'll still make some bulks from it both in and outside the forum.

I was the guy spending much time watching reels over facebook, Instagram and all youtube things sadly but after joining this forum it emerged learning passion in me. I now spend quiet more hours reading old posts of og's here/ not much into technically but try every possibility to understandand what has been talking of/about. And i feel now this is the even good place to learn about bitcoin rather than youtube or else. So, i don't think I'm now regretting giving much my time over here spending time with bitcoin community.

I saw this thread on the first page of this board and it caught my attention. I read and paused to have thought and reflect on how things have turn up for good since joining here. I never knew the thread is old enough than a year until I notice while I want to make my reply. It's inspiring indeed.

Prior to my coming here, I wasn't different from you. I spent most of my time scrolling up and down on entertainment medias watching videos and reading funny jokes. Unfortunately, none of these impact someone with positive knowledge other than laughs and humour. It's entirely a different thing now since joining here because the improvement is visible practically and virtually.

This is more precious I guess. Yeah if before your time got wasted on leaning on social media, having the forum as your hub could gain you knowledge instead lurking on some tiktok dance challenge wnd new brand of phone you saw on your facebook timeline.

Well its always better to use our time on something that adds value and knowledge.

I get you right Op. The justification here is that we don't have to preach what we don't price.
It is actually fooling oneself in the forum when you basically claims professional and an instructor in the forum while you never practically get admitted into the reality of the crypto markets which is the primary aid and most dominance discussion in this platform.

I'm glad to hear from you that you have diverted the time spent watching Facebook, Instagram and YouTube to learn something. You want to learn a lot by reading old posts. In this you will notice everyone's posts, how everyone is expressing their views. If you see any post and if you think you can give a good idea or informative information, then definitely post there. .

If you have a normal idea about Bitcoin before him then from here you will fill up your incomplete knowledge about BTC because this is one of the most important forum to learn about Bitcoin by discussing it.

Even you joined the forum with money-incentivized purpose, with time you can change yourself and become a good member of the forum. Everyone can change and if you can change yourself in a positive way, it's good for you and for forum community too. Because if you upgrade yourself to be a more knowledgeable and helpful member, the forum community will have more contributions from you.

An example is fillippone. His reason to join the forum and how he became one of good forum members, not only in merits.

The purpose of joining the forum may differ for now but the main reason when one have joined the forum cannot even be completed without having that knowledge about bitcoin. Even when you’re just focused more on ranking up and getting to be picked in a signature campaign, you must have learned a lot about the forum rules and also learnt about bitcoin. There is no way someone without the knowledge of bitcoin at least will survive to a full member rank in the forum. If there was a doubt for his knowledge and how he communicates in the forum, his ranking up will be hard and until he has improved, he won’t get that desirable rank for a campaign. So everything works in succession to me and at least, you may have something to show that you’ve passed through the forum like others.

It is good to always take your time examine yourself on your daily activities so that you can get insight on where and how to improve yourself for good.

In my opinion, if you are used to this forum, I don't think you need this examination because you are always learning something new, especially cryptocurrency wise because once we have strange news be it good for Bitcoin and cryptocurrency or the other way round, it will be discussed here and several suggestions will be given and also experts will come and give more insight on how it will affect cryptocurrency.

Based on the forum, you can actually examine yourself on how many people have learned from you off this forum because Bitcoin and cryptocurrency awareness is what we really need mostly especially as we are suffering inflation in almost every part of the world.

Some people may wonder, why then did i had to bring it to the forum, why not quietly work on  improving yourself more regarding those questions. Anyway, the need to me extending this to the forum is to ignite and reawakening in members that may have lost consciousness of that fact for them to examine themselves for a check and balance.

The forum is where we learn everyday and the forum is designed for quality information to be shared and this will make one to have reason for self development.  I think it is very important to examine ourselves if we are doing enough to develop ourselves that can enable us to give quality contributions in the forum.  Self examine is a good to give assessment to improve and if enough have not been done over the time, their will be a need to put in more effort.
Self development is very important in an anonymous forum like this, except for the merit that is given to you for quality posts, there is no other form of assessment by the forum management regarding your Bitcoin knowledge. So it falls down on every member to periodically asses themselves to know whether they are making improvements regarding their cryptocurrency knowledge and experiences. Since I joined this forum I have learnt a lot regarding cryptocurrency and I can avoid making mistakes that can cause the lose of my cryptocurrency. The synagy in the forum is worthy to note, members don't hold back to share their knowledge and experiences so that others can learn from them, this is the most astonishing thing about this forum. This forum is by far the best place to learn and discuss about Bitcoin.

No reason to regret spending time on a forum, it's just similar to all other social media apps you use, just more specifically a community for Bitcoin Enthusiasts. I have literally learnt a lot in my time here and love to share it with new users, it's always fun posting here and learning what new is happening around as I no longer follow anyone in Crypto Twitter. That shit was very depressing and changes my mind so much.

Your comment is inspiring. Participating in forums is not just to earn money but to develop one's perspective and a boro matter. If joining a forum means just trying to rank, that would be deviating from the real purpose of the forum. The main purpose of our presence in the forum should be to create a place of learning and growth where we can share our thoughts and ideas with other members.
You can start your forum journey one way or another, but if you manage to avoid breaking forum rules, and can rank up, join campaigns for money, it's all good.

Even you joined the forum with money-incentivized purpose, with time you can change yourself and become a good member of the forum. For minutes I paused reflecting about my time in the forum raising self-directed questions and contemplating on them. Questions like what are those things I can say I have actually learnt since when I joined the forum. How has my growth in knowledge of bitcoin being ever since and what more do I really need to know continuously.

Some people may wonder, why then did i had to bring it to the forum, why not quietly work on  improving yourself more regarding those questions. Anyway, the need to me extending this to the forum is to ignite and reawakening in members that may have lost consciousness of that fact for them to examine themselves for a check and balance.

By doing so we can easily keep track of our development and growth rate and try in balancing it side by side ranks and bitcoin knowledge.

Disclaimer: Am just trying to make a  common sense and not that I think myself more aware, knowledgeable and serious than anyone else in the forum and this post was not meant to belittle anyone"s rank at all

The forum has different sections, including local boards, and sometimes people get merit in their local boards, which is enough for them to rank up, and once you have ranked up, there is a chance for you to earn through the signature campaign because some of them allow posts in local boards and gambling sections, which have nothing to do with intensive Bitcoin knowledge.

I know someone can rank up in their local boards, but ranking up is not the main issue. What about the key knowledge of the main purpose of the forum? Even if someone comes here because of a signature campaign, such a person needs to learn about bitcoin, and for someone who wants to be a good poster on the forum, I don't think the knowledge that has been acquired from their local boards will be enough for that person to participate well in his/her signature campaign. My reason is that local boards do not have enough topics of discussion that someone will be posting every day, and if you want to be a good poster, you can't always be active on your local board. You need other sections too.

For the gambling board, there is nothing new there, so you can see that someone who wants to do well and wants to be a good poster too must engage in the main section of the forum. Not just local boards and gambling; however, there are some posts we do not only because of signature campaigns. And most of them cannot be done on the local boards, And gambling section.

There s always a need to keep track of the places we've been and where we are. It defines forward Ness or backwardness or if we are just stationary. A lot of us might just be stationary about the things we've learned. Not because we don't realise learning is continuous nor do we not realise the need to keep on seeking more knowledge but, sometimes we humans act like a bulk of it being contented with the little we've acquired but that ought not to be so.

The brain is one part to our human existence that is never filled and bitcoin continues to evolve still more ways or approach to its innovation of which, onenperson can't comprehensively state that they know it all which stresses the need for a continual learning. It refreshes the mind and exercises the brain.

If you are not receiving any merits since then but you are actively participating and engaging on forum then theres must be some kind of mistake on your writing or conversational style in here. There must be someone that can appreciate it or like it, if none then thats it. You need to make improvement and probably give more effort to be on par with others. How others received merits just like that. Maybe try to check out some profile for admiration and see how they do did. Its not like you copying but getting idea to have knowledge on better ways how is it done.

As a member of the forum and you're not growing in knowledge of the main purpose for which the forum was created for then it's a waste of time and energy for you.  The forum is not just about earnings so if your growth in the forum is focused in ranks you are basically not growing.

You cannot earn in the forum without having some knowledge of why you are here. Why did I say that? Because 80% of discussions taking place on the forum are all about bitcoin, teaching people new things about bitcoin and any other new information about crypto So you can see that everyone who comes to this forum is there to learn about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Even though they will engage in the signature campaign, they must have knowledge of why this forum was created and any other things they need to know. Because the signature campaign comes later when you spend some months on the forum, and I believe that for someone who is serious and ready to learn before ranking up, they will have something that they have learned. However, someone cannot  rank up without the knowledge of which the forum was also created.
You are correct, but it is not always the case.

However, I feel that any active user who has been a member of this community for more than four months should be able to learn a lot about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency because that is one of the key topics being discussed in various parts of this forum.

A newbie right now is basically a newbie by knowledge as well and that is what he should be considered.

I don't think you can generalize it that easily. First and foremost a newbie is a new forum user. He or she can have no knowledge or a lot of knowledge, depending on prior interest and whatnot more. Someone can read quietly for years and learn without the need to write a single post. Maybe not the common case but I did exactly that. And there are newbies who gained merit and ranks rather quickly because they already had some decent knowledge here and there.

On my forum journey with my current account I wanted to participate and contribute and test and grow my knowledge. As far as I remember I didn't care much about ranks. But I appreciated merit as this was a token that my contributions were considered helpful and worthy for those who merited my posts.

I have seen many users decorated with campaign signatures and it was obvious that those don't do it for free. Believe it or not, but for myself I didn't care. Signature compaigns were not my main goal. And I would advise new users not to focus primarily on that or you will have a hard time unless you're smart and have some sort of plan to achieve your goals.

Still, this forum is for me primarily a source to quench my thirst for knowledge about all stuff around Bitcoin in particular and cryptocurrencies in general.

I agree with your analogy, but still, I believe one cannot rank up in the forum anymore if they are not knowledgeable and experienced enough thanks to the Merit system. Those were different times when all a user needed was activity points and some posts of almost any nature to rank up and become a container without content as you said, but now, things are different. A newbie right now is basically a newbie by knowledge as well and that is what he should be considered.

Though you are right about the users that are old, who ranked up before the Merit system was here, and since they've worked only to rank up and never really focused on gaining any knowledge about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general, they might have very high ranks but their knowledge and experience is still less than a newbie's.

OP, I get your drift on the self assessment push you're giving other users. Sometimes, some of us may lose ourselves to forgetfulness and just come here to post for the sake of posting to keep our accounts active in preparation for an open slot or post to meet up post count without actually putting in the real work. This forum is a win-win for all who truly treasure it, both in knowledge dissemination and earning. I've repeatedly said this. I don't see any reason that anyone who takes their offline job seriously wouldn't take this place too as valuable. Your thread is a wake-up call.

Different people, with different purposes, why are here, But personally am here for knowledge specifically I am interested in every piece of information about Bitcoin.

This forum has helped me a lot, I will not say that I have gotten all the knowledge but to an extent, I now think differently because of my exposure here.

When I joined this forum earlier this year, I was without information on how this forum operates, but with the help of many sound minds here, I was able to know the rules that are guiding this forum, and this has kept me on the right track.

Self appraisal is a necessary tool for the self aggrandizement of any individual. It is fine to at a point retrace your steps I an organisation, institution or group you find yourself. For there to be a successful self appraisal, there must be some set goals which will serve as a yardstick to measure your success or failure.
However, there is a rare situation where people do not appraisal themselves, and that will be in a rare situation that the person doesn't esteem whatever they needed to self appraisal. For instance, someone who joined the forum for fun or without a purpose has no reason to self appraise.

As a member of the forum and you're not growing in knowledge of the main purpose for which the forum was created for then it's a waste of time and energy for you.  The forum is not just about earnings so if your growth in the forum is focused in ranks you are basically not growing.

There are people here who do not align with the purpose for which the group was created and they can still be successful.  For instance, a designer may open a thread for great designs and earn handsomely from it. And we know that the purpose of the forum is not for designs, but then the designer is successful even without knowing much about bitcoin.
