Both are the best coin for long time investment and if you have less amount to invest then choose eth for small investment for good future because this is very crucial time for eth but it will change definitely in near future and people will not repent to buy it and will get huge profit with hundred percent satisfaction.
Aside from BTC and ETH, I believe and heard that PRL's a good investment too. Rumors are that they've been developing their project even more. Plus its market price is getting ready for its way to the moon.
I do not think that all cryptocurrency activities have ended on Bitcoin and Ethereum. If you try, you can find a business that will bring both success and profit.
It is true that there are some other projects in which you can invest other than bitcoin and ethereum, however there are very few cryptocurrencies that inspire me any kind of confidence, even some of the coins at the top 10 or top 20 are projects that still have not delivered on their promises and grew that much only because people were very excited about those projects. 
Why not invest in a Module project now? I think that today it can help you very much in the future, because today this project is being carried out by ICO, and I think that it may close in the near future, because the project lacks very little.
In addition to bitcoin and ethereum you can invest in other coins, just choose a coin that has good potential for the future. Look at projects that are running or looking at the coin market cap, surely you will find good and have a rapidly growing future.

I think you can invest in any coin you want as long as it has a good reputation and stable chart progression. You can invest in coins that you believe, will hit the market so hard in the future. Believe in it and it will give you your desire. But, I also recommend EOS and LT since they already build up reputation in the market.

As of now, i am looking for the ATLANT TOKEN, but the bounty payment is the only thing i am thinking as they do not finish about distributing it.

I believe that there are enough good options for investing. There is a decent crypt on the market, read reviews and ratings. This will help you make the right choice.

Ripple would also be a good option knowing that it is making changes in the market recently. In fact. it managed to replace ethereum as the 2nd best crypto in the market next to Bitcoin. This mihght be a sign that investing into it would result to huge profit once recovery have fully taken over the market situation which is currently on red marks.

How about investing in NEO and Ripple? NEO is also a good competitor of ethereum which is dubbed as the Ethereum of China with its own operating blockchain too. Ripple on the other hand is a top 3 crypto in terms of market cap which is also a promising one as big banks from the world are backing up this crypto.
NEO is a very good coin on its own but I do not think it has the potential to surpass ethereum so I prefer to invest in ethereum because what is the point of investing in a coin that you think is the second best? And while many are excited about ripple that is a coin in which I will never invest because of its incredibly close relationship with banks, to me ripple doesn't even qualify as a cryptocurrency.

Any altcoin you go for is good. We have Ethereum Classic, Ripple, Monero, Zcash, Bitcoin Cash, NEO (one of the best), Litecoin and many more of them. But anyone of them you pick interest in, be sure to make a quick research about it so you can know how it works and understand it better. Don’t just jump into it without knowing anything about. Try to follow up with the news and also learn how to read the chart yourself.
Except bitcoin and ethereum, I will advise you to consider investment in Ripple, Stellar Lumens and Nano. Those coins also have good potential and the acceptability of those coins will make them boom in the future.
