I'm wondering if it's worth exchanging Bitcoin to Monero for security as Bitcoin is quite volatile and monero seems less so. Any advice would be appreciated.

Not only monero and bitcoin all the cryptos are volatile in nature. Almost all the crypto currencies are fluctuating more in the market now there is RBI regulations from India seems the reason for dump.
But most of the crypto news site confirms already that they are getting fake news about this one.

If you have bitcoin please keep as it is mate. In some months you can able to see big returns for sure.

What's your goal generally? Taking care of the profits and minimizing the risks of losing?

That will not work and Im sure of that. No doubt that all altcoins are dependant on bitcoin price so even there is no price movement on Monero still it's not excluded once bitcoin price makes a surprising move again whether uptrend or downtrend.

Since we are all just making statement here, you will never know until you try. You can test it on actual and see what it will gives you. Yes give it a try and "risks" some then come back after a period of time.

There is nothing wrong with exchanging your Bitcoin for Monero. Yes it will help save you the loss you might encounter now that the price of Bitcoin is fluctuating up and down, but the only problem is– what are you going to do when the goes up quickly even before you know what’s happening ? Then you will lose the profit you’re supposed to make then.

Bitcoin is very volatile, in fact more volatile than other cryptocurrencies, but it is a good thing. So, I will advise you not to exchange your Bitcoin for Monero, leave it there and wait for the price to go up.

by security means that you're afraid that bitcoin will fall and lose money? if that is the case, then you go to the controversial Tether that will give you the security you want, however you go missing in this process, because eventually bitcoin will rise and you in the Tether will not profit.

Any advice would be appreciated.

buy good altcoin like ETH, NEO, LISK, Ripple, ETC, DASH and so many others and hold it for a long time, in the end you will get more bitcoin than before and you will also benefit if the bitcoin price goes up

Most altcoin is bitcoin and ethereum dependent as this is the investment coins used. So it’s not really ideal to think that it will save you from decreasing its value by converting it, not to mention the conversion fee of any exchanges. So take this is a simple advice, don’t take things seriously on emotional basis.

Learn the better way, slow down and be calm.

Cryptocurrency market is big volatile industry but i don't think you have chosen the right path by converting Bitcoin into Monero. Once the price of Bitcoin is increasing you cannot able to get same equivalent Bitcoin. So holding the Bitcoin is the right option until the price of Bitcoin starts increasing.

Why not then directly bought Monero if you really wanted to be private? Or it you are using bitcoin, then used mixing services to cover your track?

If you are looking for long term investments, I wouldn't advise you to go Monero. Altcoins are more volatile than bitcoin to be honest, so it makes zero sense to shift funds across Monero. Just stick with Bitcoin and just enjoy(worry) the ride and see how it goes up until the year of year where we usually see's surge in prices.

This market is very volatile, every coins pumps and dumps everyday but only those who good in terms of its technology will surely survive. Better to hold with your bitcoin, or try to invest more so you can buy monero. Go for long term for you to appreciate good profit.

BillCoin is correct, with bitcoin's price currently at $6600+ that's a 10% loss since yesterday (from $7200+) almost all coins suffered the same thing or could be worse. There's tether/usdt if you want to invest in a fiat like token but I wouldn't recommend it because i've heard bad things about the coin.

Edit : On coinmarketcap it shows that monero lost 11% of its value in the last 24 hours from $185 to $165 right now that just shows how an alt is much volatile than bitcoin.

With anonymity monero could be the choice but if it's profitability, bitcoin will win. Bitcoin isn't quite volatile, it is actually volatile and all alt coins are depending to bitcoin so when bitcoin goes down, XMR follows.

The same question could be asked about many cryptos. What you are looking for is to hedge against a drop in bitcoin. If bitcoin drops so do most others with some at a higher rate and some at a lower rate.

Depends what youre looking for, Bitcoin is more volatile but that can also lead to higher margins of earning.

Hey and welcome!

Bitcoin is not more volatile then Monero, in-fact, there is not an altcoin at the moment( Litecoin was stable at 2014 before it exploded), that is more stable then bitcoin.

Monero could be stable against bitcoin, but not more stable then bitcoin against the USD.
Basically, if bitcoin goes down against fiat, monero will go down even more, and if bitcoin goes up, monero will go up even more, and you can check that what I am saying is correct through the 1-week candle graph.
