Hi,

I see that there are quite a few exchanges.  Some are more known than others.

Mintpal
Cryptsy
Poloniex
Bittrex
and so on...

Which is the best and why?  I'm looking for an expert opinion. As it stands now, I use more than one.  But I can't seem to understand which is better than the other.  I simply use them because of the coins they trade.

Thanks.

Cryptsy is the biggest altcoin exchange and has a large variety of altcoins.
Even though I have read a few complaints about it, it seems to me that it is still the best among the list.

I think BTC-e is good for coins like Litecoin and Bitstamp for Bitcoin.

But there are also other exchanges with even more altcoins than Litevoin. Cryptsy comes to mind, here... But it is true, that BTC-e is a rather big exchange, even in terms of BTC/USD, whereas the other altcoin exchanges are usually much smaller.

Well Bittrex is currently the top exchange by volume followed by Cryptsy. I like Bittrex a lot but I don't think it's design is as efficient as it could be.
I trade on 4 of the top exchanges (except Bter which I don't know very well). Mintpal is my favorite. It's got the cleanest design. I love the simplicity and efficiency.
I traded on Cryptsy for a long time, it was my first altcoin exchange. It's good but was very laggy at one time. Still it's one of the most reliable. Polo is ok (nice troll box  Cheesy ) but has the worst design of the lot.
Atm, I'm mostly on Bittrex for 2 main reasons, volume and the fact that they tend to add new coins faster than the others which is great for day-trading  Smiley

EDIT - When I say top exchanges, I'm referring to altcoin exchanges not exchanges that focus on BTC-USD.

EDIT2 - For BTC-USD my favorite by far is Bitstamp  Wink

From my experience BitStamp is the most trusted exchange today, I had some issues in the past and they solved them perfectly.

I recommend poloniex in this list. It is better than cryptsy. UI of poloniex is good and their service too. It is okay now, I think. Anyway, many as said, don't deposit many BTC or any other coin in an exchange or if you are doing, try to make a few orders with the same rate of the Buy order if you are selling and vice versa.
Kindly,

Thanks guys.

But what about trading tools?  Which you think has a better trading platform and tools for traders to see the value of their trades as in stock exchanges.

cryptsy is improoved alot lately, no waiting for deposits, withdrawals, customer service is good too.

I have not tried Cryptsy again since my AUR dissapeared for 7 hours of of nowhere only to find out them back again when I wake up next day. That scared the shit out of me and I decided not to participate on Cryptsy again. It's good to hear they have fixed their shit and got their shit together finally but I feel it's still to early for me to decide to move all my shit in here again. Might as well stick with Poloniex.
Definitely agree that things at Cryptsy have improved quite a bit over the past couple of months.  They have certainly had their issue(s) no doubt but getting more reliable all the time imho.

No btc-e so far? They have the trollbox and works fine.

In fact the only ones I use is btc-e and an underground local exchange,  so can't really say that I have a lot of compation ground.

(Also used Craptsy in the past with not good experiences, so I don't recommend)

Yeah BTC-e is a nice site, yeah! They have a lot of coins there, but I really don't care that much for alt coins, I'll have to admit Cheesy But they also have that awesome chat box where people warn each other before an incoming crash. Saved me hundreds of BTC already! Good community!

yep, and circle in the future.

Yeah, Circle seems to be the latest rave, doesn't it. I haven't yet looked too much into it. But from what I hear, it really is supposed to have cracked some of the shortcomings people tend to complain about. I hope they're doing a great job in the future!

Those are rather exchanges for trading across various cryptocurrencies (altcoins) and bitcoin. Some of them are better known and trusted than others, but if you'd like to buy/sell Bitcoin for FIAT (USD, EURO), you should maybe use Coinbase, Bitstamp, Kraken,....

yep, and circle in the future.

Yeah! We'll have to see which other exchanges may come onto the scene. I bet there are still many great ideas and startups working on it, as we speak! But as of now, there are only a few rather trustworthy exchanges!
