whats the point buying it? no chance to ROI on it with increasing difficulty?

If you think you can not make money do not buy it.

1. Because I can  afford it. I bought today 2x S7 Batch7 and 1x Avalon 6 batch2.

2. Mining is not For Dummies...

Hi,
It is 4.8.0, I had included a screenshot of the info at the end of the article.

Hi,

@ManeBjorn, could you please check which version of cgminer is running on this miner. Is it 4.8.0? It is probably displayed on the first page when you login into the miner's web interface. If possible, please post screen shot of this page.

Thanks!

He's referring to aftersales support, methinks Smiley

I can't tell I can see it both ways with translation.   Google translate is good for general read but specifics can be hard.

We need an native reader.  Please if you understand reading it tell us if he bought direct or not first hand.

I read the same translation. I think he is talking about factory warranty service.
Either way, I feel bad for the guy, a new 2,500 USD paper weight S5+ across the floor not running would be very disheartening.

I hope it turns out that it isn't their after-sales support. I think we can receive clarification fairly quick if it is made clear in the review.
There are always two sides to the story. I have to keep that in mind, but if anyone is personally waiting since last week for them to get back with you about a warranty replacement I could see where you may be biased. That kind of situation can turn someone's mining game bad quickly.

/knock on wood - I am going to keep thinking positive   (and probably order some fans)

I will definitely keep and eye on that.
I did not have any issues with my S5s but I know several others who did.
Good point.

They did a good job with it to make the most of airflow for heat dissipation.
Let's wait for a while for heatsinks falling...  Undecided

is that from an s7 or s5+?
S5+ - cybtc have a review up, they weren't too impressed with what they got: http://www.cybtc.com/article-1921-1.html

I reread it and google translate might not be doing it justice.  But is he saying he got it not directly from bitmain?  - " Aftermarket Policy ants definitely a problem, I bought something new, whether it really easy to use first hand, there are questions you should give me a direct replacement"

It almost sounds like he got not direct and wanted a direct replacement.  Again I could be wrong google translate is not that great on this.

He normally is right on with reviews.  I don't think he makes it as kissing ass with companies.

I guess I got lucky my S5+ came working great and still no issues.   But we have some at this point that are having problems.

I don't know what hashing board is on the picture, sorry.

Even if ASICs are not the tallest components, you can always use copper or aluminium pads to bypass this limitation.   Wink

can you please tell if the asics are the tallest component on the board or not? maybe the c1 waterblock can be put on the s7 blade, someway somehow...

I will be posting some detailed internal pics and closeups of the hashing boards soon. I am waiting for the new camera. Will be here soon.

Having spent some time exploring S5 Undervolting I would love to be playing with an S7, however budget, particularly with UK VAT, does not allow a purchase at this point. (If anyone, for whatever reason, fancies selling a single S7 Hash Board please PM me) A couple of thoughts & questions for those who will be having a go at undervolting.

Not undervolting related but would also be good to confirm that the controller board is actually marked up as S5+ as shown in the Bitmain pictures as we already know that S5 & S5+ controllers are interchangeable it will then only be a small step to confirm that an S5 Controller could be used with an S7, which could be handy if people decide to perhaps break an S7 into either single units, or a single and a double?

Out of curiosity it would be good to have a better quality picture of both sides of the hash board. In particular it would be good to confirm that there is an oscillator for every trio of chips? I think this is what I can see on the low res Bitmain pictures but they are not good enough to confirm. I still think it was the additional oscillators that enabled the latest V1.91 S5 Hash boards to undervolt successfully.

When working on the S5 I found it useful to do tests with just a single board connected at a time. This will actually be easier in the S7 as the controller has it's own supply. This enables a much lower output adjustable supply to be used while experimenting and also I found a significant variance between boards which is good to understand as when powering the full unit looking for HW errors the "worst" board will otherwise dominate the results.

I look forward to watching, fingers crossed as we have yet to understand why Bitmain have been so explicit on supply voltage ( Rated Voltage: 12.0V+5%, should not be less than 12.0V ), from the sidelines when the tests begin.  Smiley
