Awareness is the key, as an investor you should be aware that scammers will try to clone set up phishing site that are related to wallets because scammers very well know that once they got the private keys, they've got everything on that wallet, the most cloned wallets are Exodus and MEW, always check what you are putting in your wallet, if you are using an online wallet.

If you checked the fake one you'll see the download is 500 plus and I'm sure most of these are fake downloads, the real one has 5 million downloads something that a fake application cannot duplicate, so if you have doubted the link you can do two things check the official website for the right link or check the download number, the numbers cannot lie.

Too bad that there aren't a lot of people that are going to see this PSA and they are probably too lazy to open their browser to download the wallet directly from the website which means that they are likely to get confused as to which wallet they are going to download, to a lazy and untrained eye, the fake is not going to be suspicious but to someone who knows a thing or two about apps and how to get their clients, they will notice the irregularities pointed out in the fake app.
Problem here is that people are used to downloading apps directly from Google Play and have been doing that for years so when they decide to get crypto wallet for the first time, they won't think twice about the dangers of getting an app from there as they probably never had any issues with any app before. That thought that app could be fake won't even cross their mind, unfortunately.

I really think this is more of a staff / time / technology problem for Google in the sense that they do not have enough people assigned to check all of the potential frauds and with that don't have enough time or their automation technology is not up to the task.
Yep, they are probably understaffed in that regard (poor Google can't afford to hire more people Cheesy) and they simply can't check all those apps manually, and probably don't even care much as they are covered with TOS. Whether that's fair approach is another story..

By the way, thanks for reporting this, I added it to the List of fake wallets on Google Play

This is a problem with Play store apps. While I generally tell people to check the publisher before downloading the app, this case, the publisher of the fake app is very similar to the original app's developer name. Now I dont know if this is correct to accuse Google of the same, because the person who is downloading the app is responsible for their own security not the store.

Hence report the app/flag it and see if they take it down. Play store removes a lot of malware apps everyday and therefore this should work. They have a bunch of fake reviews as well - another pointer that one should not read them before downloading anything.

The sheer number of apps passing through the app store makes it impossible to check all of the possible scams / fake apps. I'm not excusing Google, just saying they need to try to overcome that, but I don't know if it's in their interest.

Thank you for the confirmation and the screenshots. I forgot to add them. They have been having this problem for a while now and it seems they can't resolve it. If anyone is looking to use Exodus, do so through their official website.

Before downloading app, we should not consider people that gives feedback, most of them are the scammers behind phishing apps. The number of people that downloaded the wallet can be considered, if only 100 or fee people download the app, it is fake app, you can see from below how the original Exodus wallet has 1 million of people and more that downloaded it. The fake one is also new on the playstore unlike the original one which released on playstore sice June 6, 2019.

On Google play store, the Original Exodus wallet

The one below is fake, thanks to TheNineClub for the find out.

What happened: Saw this going around, I think it's connected to the Scam Alert Exodus posted on their FB page as far back as two years ago. It's an app on Google Store, but as far as I know, Exodus has a legitimate app from Exodus Movement, Inc, and this is Exodus Wallet ,Inc

Scammers Profile Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.exoduswallet.walletexodus

Check out the official Exodus web page if you are not sure what app to use.
