I've had an exchange BTC/ETH frozen a week ago and received an email from Exodus.

Hello there,
We have noticed some exposure to high-risk services on your wallet, and we would need to do a quick verification (KYC).

Since I've done the verification a few months ago, this email  surprised me a lot. Anyway, I've uploaded my data a second time and the wallet balance just disappeared after right away.

The answer is:
Hello there,
Your funds are frozen and will not be shown on your wallet until the verification is not completed or is still ongoing.

I wonder are they logged in into my account and withdraw the money ? Or what is happening?
All my emails now being ignored. Any suggestions?

Thanks

What happened to you OP only shows one thing, and that is awareness among the communities here on this forum platform that people should avoid using or trying the Exodus wallet because of your experience. That's the only disadvantage when a platform is centralized.

It happened to me because before in exchange, my coins also disappeared from my balance, then when I looked for frozen or frozen, the coins were not that big, but after that incident, I stopped using that exchange site platform.

They cannot log into your account, problems can only arise when using SWAP

These are very strange guys, there is a feeling that they just don’t do exchanges, but only do KYC checks, in 5 days they turned me inside out, I sent them everything that was possible and impossible. but all the same they returned the delngs to me. terrible experience. no one is advised to use SWAP in EXODUS

Not sure, looks like  it may take several weeks. Here is the answer

Your refund has already been initiated and waiting for further review and execution.
We are trying to expedite this process to the best we can and it will be completed as soon as those further checks are completed. We will be in touch with you as soon as there is an update.
They deliberately delay your coins in order to make interest on them. Don't forget to share further developments in a few weeks

Yeah, looks like they are making the profit by using my coins

Your order is in the queue to be refunded. While the order refund is in the queue, our accounting team will confirm the refund wallet address, and the amount, and after these are validated, your refund will be processed.
Regardless of the market movement, you will get the full deposit amount back to your sender's address. We will keep you updated once your refund has been processed.

Thanks for your understanding and for your cooperation.

At what rate did you convert BTC to ETH? The one you sent or installed a new one? If the exchange rate has become unprofitable, will you require them to recalculate the exchange rate?

But it's an order refund going to be carried out. Does the conversion rate really matter?

They will just refund whatever ETH or BTC he had sent to get converted before it got frozen.

Have you been given your ETH or is there still a KYC check in progress?

Post a lot of screenshots, and the BTC/ETH address will be clearer this way. This is the only way you will understand where your BTC is and where your ETH is

Or, continue to preserve your privacy, and don't.   Roll Eyes

That's good to hear, glad it worked out for you.  Were you ever able to figure out which exchange it was that received the coins?  I only ask because I like to keep a list of ones to avoid.  Grin

Was it ShapeShift or some other instant exchange available from within the Exodus wallet?
I've no idea, sorry

That's what you need to find out.  Again, I've never used Exodus so I can't guide you, hopefully some one here can.  There must be a transaction history that specifies which exchanger your coins were sent to.  Once you know that you can deal with them directly rather than through the Exodus app.

The exchange transaction between my Exodus wallets BTC to ETH. As I mentioned before, I passed KYC identity verification previously
and have done the same again at the time this happened. The question is how did they withdraw the funds from my wallet?
Did they logged in into my account?

As I previously mentioned, they can't access your wallet. If you used the built-in instant-exchange (and not FTX)... It should be something like this:

You send them the BTC (to their personal wallet) -> You wait until the transaction gets confirmed -> They run KYT[1] (or something similar)  -> If everything is good, then they send you the ETH. If not, they ask you to verify your identity first.

It was you who sent them the bitcoin when you initiated the trade. Everything happens automatically in the background without you having to copy/paste the address and amount. But If you check your BTC address on Blockchain.com, you'll see that the bitcoins were sent somewhere else.

That wasn't the question. He wasn't asking for the trading pair but the name of the exchange you used. The service provider. Was it ShapeShift or some other instant exchange available from within the Exodus wallet?

I don't think so. You tried to swap the coins. That means a transaction was made from your wallet to that of the instant exchange that was used. That's where the swap happens. When it's done, the exchange sends you your new coins to the wallet address you provided. This all happens in the background and you don't see it. Since your assets were flagged for whatever reason (my guess is because the amount is quite big), the instant exchange froze your crypto and is now asking who you are and how you got it.

@dash0520, would you mind telling us to which exchange your coins were sent?
